Cant install Illustrator cs4 on mavericks 10.9?

hey everyone,
recently got a new macbook, running mavericks 10.9, went to install my old stuff from the last macbook and everything works fine except illustrator. i re-downloaded illustrator to try it again and when i get to the set up screen and click on the installer it does nothing at all, just sits idle, doesn't matter how long i leave it alone, nothing happens. any thoughts?

Jake323 I would recommend checking your installation logs for error messages. You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4. You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

I cant install Illustrator CS6.

I cant install Illustrator CS6. I have the cloud. All other programs installs without any problem.
I have tried the downloadmaneger, the trial but same result. It wont work.
What to do? The deadline I have comes crawling closer... Thanx for your support

Trying to install Illustrator CS4 onto my new PC. Does not recognize serial number.

Got a new PC last week. Trying to reinstall Adobe Illustrator CS4. Put in disc... typed in the serial number as requested, but it is not recognized. Would appreciate any help.

Looks like that the version of CS4 which we are installing is an upgrade, If yes you what is the previous qualifying version.
Find the right product and enter the serial number in front of that and bingo it will start working!

Error 2 installing Illustrator CS4 from Web Premium

I've just spent a couple of hours trying to get Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium completely installed on my work PC (the University of St Andrews, UK) using the volume licence key but I get an error when installing it. It says "Done, with errors". When I click on "More Information" I get a message saying:
Adobe Illustrator CS4 LangPack (en_GB)

Error 2.
and sure enough, everything works apart from Illustrator CS4. I read elsewhere on the forums (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2415634#2415634) about a solution, but I didn't fully understand the steps required.
I'm using an absolutely clean installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (just has Windows 7, Office 2007 Professional and now Adobe CS4 Web Premium. It's installed with English (United Kingdom) region settings.
When I run the Adobe Support Advisor it says:
Issue no: id18308
Error UninstallColorProfilesRollback occurs preventing the installer from updating existing color profiles when installing the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product

I followed the advice there, but the registry information didn't exist ("Right-click PDF Admin Settings and choose Permissions.") so I couldn't pursue that route.
When I tried to reinstall Illustrator CS4 it said that it was using "English (International)". It still doesn't work.
Any advice would be gratefully received. Or how can I contact Adobe about this directly?

Hi Scott.
It was not that I was unwilling to Archive and Install... I didn't catch that in your initial response and that's why I called Apple... because I did understand that the user account was corrupt. Apparently Apple is not aware of the Archive and Install fix either because that was not recommended. I am sure if it was a common fix, they would have told me about it. So, now that you have further explained how Archive and Install work, I am sure that information will be very helpful to someone else with the exact same problem. This problem, for your information, is not uncommon as I found the question many times in my quest to get an answer... so there is indeed an issue that needs to be resolved. Installing this software should have been just as easy as it was to install all the other software on my computer.
I know someone will find your response, in its entirety, very helpful. Again, thank you for your time.

I bought a new imac and now installing software, I've been using illustrator cs4 which I upgraded from cs1. the installer for cs4 is saying the serial number for my cs1 is not valis upgrade path. It work when i installed on my old computer but not now. Any Ideas?

Cant install trial cs4 because of open application adobe updater

ive downloaded the free trial photoshop cs4, however cant get past the initializing of install because i get a message to close all applications. it tells me adobe updater is running yet i cant find that to close it ?please help, thanks

Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and look for it under the Processes tab. If you find it, select it and press End Process.

Cannot Install Illustrator CS4 Trial or any others?

I have Downloaded and successfully installed Adobe PS, AE, DW and FL with no problem. But I recently tried to download Adobe Premeir and Adobe Illustrator trials and my computer locked up. It would not start correctly and I had to restore my computer to a earlier time. After this I have been able to download the trial files but when the installation bar gets to the end it says that a component of (insert CS4 program here) was unable to install. I have tried many times to install again with other products and with no programs whatsoever open. Did me having to restore my computer have anythign to do with this?

Well, you made a mess! (don't take it personally) Most likely the problems lies within the order in which you installed. There's an intricate web of interdependencies between shared Adobe components across programs and some of that is fragile, to say the least, so it breaks down when one install tries to overwrite or update some of those components. There's a reason, why there is a Master collection. You best bet at this point is to simply use the CS4 Clean Utility from the support pages to unregister all installer files from the database, then simply install the programs that so far you weren't able to get on your system. You can repeat this after every install or when something seems to have gone wrong, it really leaves the programs in place intact. The only downside is, that when you want to get rid of it, you will have to manually delete all directories....

Cant install iMovie 10 after Mavericks urgrade

Hi guys
I have a 2011 MBP which came pre installed with iMovie, i have upgraded to every iteration of OS X and have always been able to use iMovie afterwards. But now i have upgraded to Mavericks, i cannot install iMovie to my computer. When i go into my purchases it says 'Accept', I click it and it asks for my ID etc but it still wont download and still says accept.
The thing i think is the problem is I reset my computer to factory settings a few days before i upgraded to Mavericks

I have the same problem. iMovie was find on the Developer Preview but upgrading via App Store from ML results in this "Accept" thing for iMovie. Hopefully someone posts something soon.

Yes they are required components hence installer does not lets you de select them. You can only deselect AIR, Device Central, Adobe Drive and Adobe media player at the time of install
