Cant install itunes. error code 80070002.

error code 80070002 comes up everytime i try to install. I have tried cleaning the data store and downloaded files, I tried a sfc/scannow, i tried to rename the files and I tried a system restore. It still wount download and windows will not update due to the same error code. Any advice on what to do next?

Drat. That Windows Modules Installer should be showing up in there. (I checked on the Wife's Vista 64-bit laptop prior to my previous reply.)
The trouble with the Windows Modules Installer will be at the basis of all of the sfc /scannow failures, Windows Update failures, and iTunes install failures.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to advanced troubleshooting information for it in the context of the 80070002 error code, and we've tried all the sensible basic principles troubleshooting I can think of. (I don't want to experiment further here in case I muck things up for you further.)
So, I think we should try to get you on the radar screens of some Windows Update experts to see if they've got any further suggestions.

In your post there, tell them the error message code you get on Windows Update and iTunes install failures, the error message you get when you run sfc /scannow, and the fact that the Windows Modules Installer Service isn't appearing for you in Services. Please help -can't uninstall or install iTunes - Error code 2330

I tried to open up iTunes 9.1.1 today and got a message that windows was trying to configure iTunes. Midway through, i got an error message: "An error occurred while attempting to create directory: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\apple computer\iTunes\SC info.
So i then tried to download the new version of iTunes (9.2), and got a message that "the installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with the package. The error code is 2330."
Then I followed the trouble shooting steps on the support site - deleted the Temp folder and then tried to uninstall 9.1.1. I received the same 2330 error message.
Doing a search of error 2330 on this forum, I saw people recommending running a Chkdsk which I did. This repaired some errors, but it didn't help with the installation, I got the same error message.
I have tried to call Apple support but apparently they don't support iTunes unless you're running it on a MAC. I'm upset and frustrated and at my wits end. I know next to nothing about computers, which doesn't help ;o) I'd be grateful for any suggestions...

Okay, either the SCInfo directory (or the iTunes directory above it) has gotten damaged in some way. iTunes is detecting that when you try to launch it, and it is trying to do a repair install in order to try to repair the damage. But the damage in your case is enough to stop the repair install from going through. The same damage will be stuffing up the attempts to uninstall/reinstall/update iTunes.
There's an alternate strategy we can try to get around this in cases where chkdsk can't fix the damage. But first we're going to have to adjust some view settings on the PC, because your damage is lurking down in directories that are hidden by default on Windows XP systems.
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
5. Click OK.
Now we'll see to the file.
In My Computer, open your C drive.
Open the "Documents and Settings" folder.
Open the "All users" folder.
Open the "Application Data" folder.
Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Rename the "iTunes" folder "iTunesOLD".
Restart the PC. Now try launching iTunes again. Does the repair install go through properly this time?
(If the iTunes Setup Assistant runs, don't add files to your library. Otherwise you may end up with a lot of duplicates in your library.)
If you get iTunes launching again, check to see if any purchased music is still playing, and if any iPods/iPhones/AppleTVs etc are connecting properly. (We've forced iTunes to rebuild configuartion files and an iPodDevices.xml that affect some iTunes DRM/authorisation-related and device-connection-related machinery. So I reckon it's possible you might at least need to reauthorise some songs or apps or games after iTunes launches again.)

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 8007054F, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

Cant install itunes 10.6 no matter what i try! (Windows installer package error)

I downloaded the latest version from the offcial site, and everytime i try to install it it stops half way due to Windows Installer Package error. It says I'm missing a program required to continue this installation.
I've tried removing all the files with removal tools, running it with admin rights, disabling firewalls, User account controls, updated my Windows update to the latest version. Read all the threads and tried everything but it still doesn't work.

Download and save a full itunes setup file.
Use Winrar to unzip the file into a folder. Then right mouse click the file AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi from that folder to install.

That's a bit rarer. It's a 1723 error message. (1721 and 1722 are more common.)

What does iTunes error code (-45054) mean? iTunes quits itself when you click on "OK"

iTunes error code (-45054) comes up when trying to download a M4b file to our computer to synch with an Ipad. We get this error code when we try to open this audiofile in iTunes and when we click on the OK button on the error code box, iTunes quits itself. Hello Vista People! It has taken me an entire day to fix the problem that NOT A SINGLE POST clearly answered the issue of "cant install iTunes 10.5" on my vista machine. Or worse yet, the problem I was getting was a Windows Installer error. What I discovered was that there was a corrupted Apple Software Update program. When I did as so many have suggested, and uninstalled all the Apple products, and then reinstalled, and was unable to get a iTunes 10.5 to install. The key to notice if you have this problem is that when you look in the Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features, you will notice that Apple Software Update is showing, but there is no "publisher"....there is a file size, about 2.5 mb for me (yours could be different). And when you right clicked or 'selected' the program in the the "uninstall or change a program" mode in the Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features you would not get anything to do. You couldnt uninstall it. So after uninstalling and reinstalling repeatedly, I noticed that the Apple Software Update simply was not able to be 'changed'. So, I downloaded from Microsoft "Fixit" the program called: Microsoftfixit.ProgramInstallUninstall.run.exe found here: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall I then ran this program and when asked how I wanted it to work, I selected the equivalent of "Let me" make the decisions, (Not the automatic fix) and then selected that I wanted to "Uninstall". When it finished running, it gave me a list of programs to 'uninstall' and I selected Apple Software Update. When it completed, I checked the Control Panel>Programs and Apple Software Update was gone. Once it was gone, I was able to install iTunes 10.5 without a problem, and better yet, I also noticed after the installation, in the Control Panel>Programs Apple Software Update was listed with a Publisher. Now everything works. I believe there is some issue with Vista corrupting the Apple Software Update software during the uninstall process and Windows Installer doesn't deal with it correctly. I hope at least one other person can benefit from this, because NOWHERE did anyone do, suggest or clearly advise on how this was to be done.

I am attempting installation of newly purchased CS5 Design Premium. My system will not support InDesign so I unchecked that before attempting install. I ran install under normal and safe boot and the following messages occur in each..

My file system is Journaled HFS+ , (is this case-insensitive??) with 30 GB free. I am running a 32bit MacBook with OSX 10.6.8 I have been on with tech support where I purchased the CS5 design premium. I have 1GB RAM, I was told by them that I need 2GB, the box system requirements state it needs 1GB and the read me file says I need 500MB.
Is this something that would prevent my install and cause these install errors under exit code 7? The warning pertaining to dependent operation failure seems too generic to help at all. I have been trying to get this program up and running for a week and my work is piling up, please help or advise. My head is spinning!

Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
