Cant install itunes (file security error) PLEASE HELP

I uninstalled itunes because i could not update it. now when i try to install it it comes up with this
"error getting file security: C:\programdata\Apple\Apple Application Support\kdrl\GetLastError:5"
Can you please help me.
Thanks

Delete the folder C:\ProgramData\Apple\Apple Application Support then try again.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • HT1926 Cant install itunes on vista error hresult: 0x8007054f

I cant install itunes on my HP laptop. Says there is an error called hresult 0x8007054f

    HRRESULT: 0x8007054F
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 8007054F, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

  • Cant open Itunes, gives me error.  help please...

When I try and open itunes it gives me this error:
The Unstaller has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\Recovery.ipsw.
Then I click OK then it gives me:
Problem with Shortcut: Fatal error during installation.
I tried reinstalling and uninstalling iTunes and it will not allow me to do either.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

It sounds as though you need to cleanup your installer files.
This link on trouble installing iTunes should help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    You need General Installation Troubleshooting
Before you start I would download a fresh copy of iTunes as well as the stand alone QUicktime and the Miscrosoft installer cleanup utility:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
When you are doing the uninstall section, don't worry if the uninstaller fails for a program, go on with the clean up of files and folder as given.
The really important part is the bit where you use the Microsoft installer cleanup utility to cleanup your installer files.
You probably don't need to worry about doing the "Disable conflicting software" section.

  • Cant Install itunes - airtraffichost.dll error

I was bought an Ipod Touch for xmas - needed to upgrade I-Tunes as my old version wouldnt recognise the ipod to sync. Downloaded iTunes 11 - and I cannot install it! I am running Windows Vista.
Basically each time I try this I have an error message when it comes to installing Mobile Device support saying I need to verify access to airtraffichost.dll...
I have uninstalled my old I-Tunes, and certain files still remain which are stopping me from installing the new version. I cannot seem to delete the old Mobile Device Support. Any ideas as I cant use my Ipod until this works......
I have tried using Revo & CC cleaner to delete the remaining apple folders but it keeps denying me from deleting them.
    Help!

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Cant get iTunes to download! Please help!

I recently uninstalled itunes because my quicktime was not working, so i decided to uninstall the whole thing and then reinstall it. Now when i try to load itunes, it ends half way through and says "error writing to file C:\Program\QTSystems\CoreVideo.qtr. Verify that you have access to that directory" Please help if you can!

"error writing to file C:\Program\QTSystems\CoreVideo.qtr. Verify that you have access to that directory"
That's consistent with a damaged program file (that the installer can't remove prior to replacing it with a new version).
Try running a chkdsk over the C drive, as per:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly afterwards?

  • I can't install Itunes 11.0.4. please help!

The automatic updater threw an error when I tried to update iTunes and Quick Time today.
It said: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." about both a "iTunes 64.msi" file and a "Quick Time.msi" file.
Solutions to this problem after google searching were to completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes and Quick Time using Microsoft Fix-it (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3704). I tried this and Microsoft Fix-it just loaded forever and wouldn't stop so I tried using Windows Installer Cleanup which was mentioned in a discussion (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4753469?start=0&tstart=0). I was able to uninstall iTunes with this program but Quick Time didn't show up.
Now after trying to reinstall iTunes from the apple website it says "Could not open key: UNKNOWN/Components/[string of letters&numbers]/[string of letters&numbers] Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
What is this and how do I fix it?
I just want to get iTunes and Quick Time back to normal...
I just wanted to update them like usual.....

  • ITunes 8 Installation Error  PLEASE HELP!!

Ok, I know that this problem has been posted before and the last post was April of 2008.
I recently bought an iPod Touch (16gb 2nd gen)and I have downloaded the software for iTunes 8 on and I am attempting to install it. When I get into the installation process, I receive an error message that says:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.CRT, publicKeyToken=”ifc8b3b9a1e18e3b” (etc). Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F. The installation process is then "rolled back".
Now, even though iTunes will still install onto my computer and appear to function, it will not sync with my iPod Touch. When I plug in my iPod to sync with iTunes, I get this message:
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to removed iTunes, then install iTunes again."
I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and the SAME thing happens! I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO, and I need any help I can get. I have followed all of the information found on different forums online and it either didn't work, or I didn't understand the computer lingo. If anyone knows a solution OR if anyone has had the same issue and found a solution, PLEASE HELP! I didn't get this iPod to not be able to use it!

  • Where does all itunes go when it says cannot locate??? as i cannot find my whole itunes files?? please help

Hi all. hope theirs someone out there can help,,,
I've basically changed laptop, have removed itunes from one and installed itunes on new........
now i can view my library but can only play 89 (latest tracks) out of 1400??
The message to locate tracks leads to the 89?
Where and how do I retrieve my music.
    Please help

This happens if the files are no longer where iTunes expects to find them. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the files, or that the drive they live on has had a change of drive letter, or is disconnected. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a single track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. I can provide a step by step guide if you give me the two paths.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
Or if you still have the library on the older computer see this migrate iTunes library post, in particular the link to  make a split library portable.

  • ITunes 8 Lanuch Error - Please Help!

When I double-click iTunes on my desktop a box opens that reads "The iTunes Library .itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the "iTunes" folder in the "Music" folder." What should I do to fix this? Please help. Thanks in advance!

First, ensure that your iTunes library has not been deleted or modified. Go Start->Music->iTunes. Ensure that a file that has a music note and a CD in the background is there that is named iTunes Library. Restart your computer if you haven't since this warning has appeared.
As soon as you click on iTunes, hold down the shift key and a message should come up saying "Choose a Library". Click "Choose Library" and navigate to your iTunes folder if it hasn't already done so for you already. Double click the file that says "iTunes Library" and it should load your library.

  • Cannot Install iTunes 9.2. Please help.

Hello, when I tried to update my iPhone to 4.0 I was prompted to update iTunes. So I click the Download button for it, and it seemed to be done. Then I plugged my phone in and installed the update. When I come back to see if it finished, it says "This iPhone is not available because you are not using the latest version of iTunes" "click download to download this update"
So I did, and nothing happened.
So I restarted my mac, then went to iTunes. Of course, it said the same message.
So again I clicked the download new version button, so it opened up Software update and said "Checking for new software.." and it loaded for a minute.
Then it got done loading and said
"There are no updates available at this time"
I restarted many times, and have done the process many times with the same results.
    Please help.

I had problems downloading iTunes 9.2.1 ever since it was available in Software Update. It was always slow. I finally went through with the download last night. Needless to say the download took all night. Thankfully it was loaded in the morning.
However, while iTunes 9.2.1 apparently fixes all these bugs, it did not fix their artwork bug that distorts thumbnail artwork into a perfect square. I have art of long box sets and digipaks that is now distorted. My iTunes was fine until they released 9.2. I hope they plan on fixing this in the future, because it ***** right now.

  • Install CS 5.5 error PLEASE HELP!!

I am working on a MacBook Pro. I did the file migration BUT none of my Adobe software would work. I did a reinstall of all the CS 4 as my 5.5 is an update. I put the intaller disc into my MAC but it will not initalize. It had me install the Adobe Support Adviser BUT it says there is nothing wrong!! PLEASE Help... My extensions Manager does not work and does not have an uninstall!! I don't know what to do!! HELP!!!

Adobe software needs to be installed. It rarely, if ever, works after migration.
You can install the CS5.5 upgrade without having previous versions installed. All you need is the serial number from the earlier qualifying version. Enter the CS4 serial number when prompted by the CS5.5 installer.
    Try installing just CS5.5 again.
If it's all a mess, run the Cleaner Tool then install CS5.5 from scratch.
