nolsqn,
Can you clarify what you have installed? You must have all of the following installed to get NI IMAQ for USB Cameras to install:
System Requirements:
- Windows 2000/XP (English,
Italian, Japanese, French, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch,
Spanish/Portuguese, Russian, and simple Chinese)
- LabVIEW 7.0 or higher with NI Vision 7.1 or higher for the USB LabVIEW support
- Vision Assistant 7.1 or higher for the USB Vision Assistant plugin module
- Vision Assistant 8.0 or higher for the USB Express VI
It sounds like you are missing Vision Development Module (this is what is referred to as NI Vision)? Is this true?

  • From Analog CCD to NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras?

I installed the NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras to obtain video feed from a SONY CCD camera in real-time. This camera only has the S-Video analog output so I used a Plextor PX-TV100U A/D converter to transform this signal to USB feed. It worked at first but after running my Vision VIs a couple of times NI-IMAQ could no longer establish a connection with the camera. And as I shut down my LabView 8.5, the whole computer rebooted automatically. The error messages from LabView 8.5 varied from "Not able to establish a connection to the camera... might be in use" to "No video driver installed...". None of it made any sense because the VI worked sometimes without errors. And the same thing happened to all three computers in my research lab at Tufts University.
I realize that my camera is going through a signal conversion before the USB, but why would NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras crash the whole computer? Also, is there a way to control my camera shutter speed from NI-IMAQ? I thought perhaps the camera wasn't setup right for the image acquisition. Help!!

    Hi HTL,
IMAQ for USB only works with cameras that are DirectX compatible.  Can you be sure that the information coming out of the A/D converter is compatible?  Also, when you say "it worked at first" what exactly do you mean?  Were you able to do image processing on images brought in via the camera?  If you had Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) open and the camera selected at the time you tried to run a program that called the camera, you should get an error like you saw (Not able to establish connection).

  • IMAQ for USB cameras error -1074396024 system error

    Hi,
I used a IMAQ for usb cameras.vi. It works well in my laptop which is a newer one. Well, when I changed to an old one computer and ran it, the error shows that system error, i.e. -1074396024. Could you tell me what it means and how to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I tried to use MAX to configure the Dazzle card, see the attached file. It says that it does not have any video mode which is supported. Our camcorder has the analog signal output. Is it due to the camcorder problem or this Dazzle USB converter problem? Thanks.
In addition, I am wondering if this IMAQdx can configure this camcorder from the error.

  • NI-IMAQ for USB 1.1.1 will not install with LV8 and Vision 8.0 or 8.21

When I try to install NI-IMAQ for USB 1.1.1 I get a message that vision 7.1 or higher with  Labview 7.0 or higher;  or Vision Assistant 7.1 or higher is required, I have tried the vision 8.0  and vision 8.2.1 packs with Labview 8.0 with no success.

    Hello mcg,
I am not familiar with NI-IMAQ for USB 1.1.1.  The newest version I know of that we have is 1.0 at the following link:
    NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras 1.0
You are correct that you need LabVIEW 8.0 and Vision 8.0 installed.  After this you should be able to install this very simply.  If that's still giving you trouble, try repairing LabVIEW and repairing Vision (Start » Control Panel » Add or Remove Programs » National Instruments Software » LabVIEW or Vision » Repair).
Please let us know if you have any more trouble on this.  Please post a screenshot of the error as well.

  • Problem with NI-IMAQ for usb

hi. i have labview 8.0 and vision 7.1. i installed ni-imaq for usb but the vi blocks didn't appear in function palet. does ni-imaq work with labview 8.0 and is it important to have the same labview and vision? if there is a new version of ni-imaq to work with labview 8.0 please send me the link.

    Ali,
As far as compatibility, LabVIEW 8.0 is compatible with Vision 8.0, 8.2, and 8.2.1 -- it is not compatible with Vision 7.1 so that may be causing the issues you are seeing.  LabVIEW versions are only compatible with the same, and newer versions of Vision.  As far as IMAQ, here is a link to the Version Compatibilities of LabVIEW and IMAQ.  Let me know if you have more questions!

  • Support for USB cameras in VBAI?

NI have a free driver that allows Vision 7.1 to access USB 2 cameras. Is there anything similar available for VBAI that would allow me to use an industrial USB 2.0 camera?

The free NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras driver is meant to support simple USB webcams that use DirectShow.  For machine vision or scientific imaging applications, most USB cameras don't have the performance or the features needed, like triggering.  The primary "customer" for the free driver has been universities that use webcams in labs.
With that said, there are a few industrial USB cameras out there that can be used for machine vision.  The problem is tha there is no industrial USB camera standard that covers them all (like there is with FireWire), so companies like National Instruments would have to provide and support different drivers and software tools for every indutrial USB camera.
A better solution is IEEE 1394 (or FireWire).  They offer the same performance as USB 2.0 cameras and are around the same price.  On top of that, almost every large industrial camera manufacture has a line of industrial FireWire cameras (including Sony, Basler, FLIR, and Cohu), and they all conform to the same DCAM (or IIDC) standard.  WIth this standard, our one driver, NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Cameras, works with all of them.
Vision Builder AI is designed to solve machine vision applications without programming, while USB cameras usually don't provide the triggering or advanced modes necessary for machine vision.  Because machine vision and USB cameras don't usually go together, we didn't provide support for USB cameras within Vision Builder AI.  My question to you, another_novice, is why would you like to use a USB camera with Vision Builder AI?  Are there particular features in a certain USB camera that you can't find in other cameras?  I would really like to know so we can get a better picture of how our customers are using our products.
    Thank you.
    KyleV.

  • Has anyone used the QuickUSB module (Bitswise Systems) to interface to a USB Camera via IMAQ for USB?

Has anyone used the QuickUSB module made by Bitwise Systems with LabVIEW for image acquisition.   I have a USB camera and I'm trying to use the IMAQ for USB controls to no avail.   Any input is appreciated.

Are you using the NI-IMAQ for USB functions or are you calling the QuickUSB libraries from LabVIEW?  Unless the USB camera is DirectShow compliant, then it will not work with the NI-IMAQ for USB driver.  You can use the Code Interface Node in LabVIEW to call external dll's, and it looks like from QuickUSB's website that is the best way to go.  Hope this helps.

  • Which is better for usb camera between VISA and imaqdx in labview 2010?

i have done a program for usb camera to acquire images with imaqdx.
now i want to know which is better between VISA and  imaqdx in labview 2010?
    i didn't study visa before
    thans for help.

VISA is primarily used to communicate with instruments via GPIB/TCP-IP/Serial/USB. In order to use easily VISA with an instrument over USB the instrument must adhere to the USBTMC spec. A camera is not likely to have this. Otherwise you have to use USB RAW, and that requires detailed knowledge of the data that is transmitted by the instrument. Manufacturers rarely give this information out. Normally they will provide a DLL to communicate with the instrument.
Thus, in your case, VISA is not going to be an appropriate API to use for a USB camera.
Out of curiosity, what prompted this question?

  • Cant install any driver for Hp NVidia gt230 on Touchsmart 600-1055

Last few years I bought a HP Touchsmart oversea when I travelled to US then I brought it back to Australia. First couple months it was fine then one day I turned on the PC then It is just black screen after the window 7 boot screen then restart after few seconds. It keeps repeating that process unless I go to Safe mode and remove its NVidia driver and replace with window standard driver ( Video Controller VGA compatible) then I can boot up the window normally but cant use any program that require the delicated graphic card. I have tried hard to find its driver from every resources that I can find on the internet including Hp website and NVidia webiste but still again no luck. for 3 years I still cant find the driver for this that can make it working. What happened? is it my graphic card physically fault or because the software isusse? I forgot to mention that I even try to use the DVDs that I orders from HP USA and try to factory recovery but it is still having the same issue. I try to install many different version of window in cluding win 7 32&64 bits, Window 8 pro 64 bits then STILL NO LUCK. So could anyone please tell me what happened and how to fix it cause as I am aware that HP australia not support for HP USA product and I dont want to see my expensive desktop become a brick.
    Thanks

    Hello Trung_Hau_Le,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you are having issues where you cannot use the higher end graphics card installed in your HP TouchSmart 600-1055 Desktop PC. The issue you are describing appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contacted HP technical support for repair options.
US support link to contact options for HP products purchased in the US.
Outside of US support link to contact options for HP products purchased outside the US.
Now just because you purchased the computer in Australia does not mean your warranty is not good in the US. I am providing you with a link to theHP Global Warranty and FAQs, which states the following:
HP Global Warranty covers HP products at the level of standard warranty offered in the country in which it is used. For example, a product purchased in country "A" and moved to country "B" receives the current warranty coverage provided by country "B" (if that product is marketed or supported in country B)
This means that your computer  receives the same treatment in the US as a computer sold in the US. I would recommend you contact HP Technical Support to have your issue addressed.
I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Ichat support in 10.4.10 for USB cameras?

With apple not selling isight cameras anymore i was told that you couldnt use a USB based Camera with ichat Ilife etc. However I was in the Apple store yesterday and one of the
Genius said he thought that was fixed in 10.4.10?? can anyone help me with this. i want to use an Apple display with a Mac Pro and i need a good camera to attach via USB.

    Hello alangsam
A few apps, including iMovie, require a Firewire DV signal from any external webcam. No external USB cam works with such apps.
If you need to use your external webcam with iMovie (or other apps that demand Firewire input), use a Firewire webcam or your compatible DV camcorder rather than a USB cam.
A 10.4.10-equipped Mac can use UVC (the latest USB specification) webcams for all other apps. If you buy USB, be sure to get a camera that supports the UVC standard. Older, non-UVC USB cams might work if appropriate driver software is available, but the UVC cams are supported by the latest Mac OS without additional software. See the system requirements for the application software you want to use for exact camera and, if applicable, additional software requirements.
For more info, see this post about Webcams other than iSight or search iSight Discussions for "UVC" (without the quotation marks.)

  • Windows 8 Clean Install drivers question for USB, CD, and Wifi

    Hello,
I did a clean install using bootcamp for Windows 8. The problem I am experiencing is that I cannot download the needed drivers through bootcamp due to a slow connection. I have a 15' Macbook Pro-Mid-2012.

  • Ni-imaq for 1394 camera support for sony dv cameras

    Hello,
I am wondering if there is any way to capture images from my sony mini dv recorder (DCR-PC101 NTSC) to Labview.  Is it possible through ni-imaq for 1394?
    Thank You.

    Hi charliec,
Support for mini dv cameras is not currently available with the IMAQ 1394 driver.  The only way to access the files captured by the camera are to download them to disk then open them with LabVIEW (or some other programming environment).
