Cant Launch Firefox from Mac with UTF8 International Domain name
From a Mac running OSX 10.7, I Launch Firefox with a UTF-8 string containing an international domain name:
I try to launch http://www.vihtilä.fi and Firefox responds: Can’t connect to http://www.vihtil\xc3\xa4.fi but the address bar string is correct. If I copy the address bar string, and paste it back into the address bar, then hit enter, the site opens. Safari and Chrome launch the correct site.
\xc3\xc4 is the UTF8 representation of 'ä'
Firefox on Windows works correctly, but I pass it a WCHAR (UTF16) name.
That is weird.<br />
The forum makes a correct and working link (www.vihtilä.fi) via preview, but changes the URL to the escaped encodeURI version when it is posted.
I can't replicate what you are doing, but the page opens via a desktop shortcut with "<b>-url http://www.vihtilä<i></i>.fi</b>" command line parameter.

Publish to .mac with an existing domain name
I was wondering if anyone has published to .mac with and existing domain and kept it. I have had my business under this domain name for 15 years and do not want to change it at this time.
Thanks
mekodI believe the issue is solved as the domain now points correctly to BC servers , it was probably a propagation delay.
Thanks,

We have a software application that programmatically launches the default web browser using the Windows shell execute function ("ShellExecuteA" in the "shell32.dll" library of the Windows API) along with a file path for a saved local html file that is to be displayed. In the case that FireFox is the default browser and the file path for the html file contains any space characters in the html file's file name, Firefox (in this case v7.01) will display an error message "File not Found..." and then will also proceed to open tabs for each of the individual words in the file name, launching as the URL path, each individual word appended to ".com".
In the following example, the path "C:\KSSecOfState\Forms\Kansas Secretary of State - Filings and Forms.htm" when launched programmatically, resulted in the error message "File not Found...Firefox can't find the file at /C:/KSSecOfState/Forms/Kansas." and opened up browser windows for "http://www.secretary.com/", "http://www.of.com/", "http://www.state.com/", "http://www.and.com/", and attempted to launch "http://forms.htm". If the same file (renamed) is launched using the path string "C:\KSSecOfState\Forms\KansasSecretaryOfState-FilingsAndForms.htm" the file opens up correctly in Firefox. Clearly the presence of spaces in the file name is causing the problem.
I should also note that either path (with or without space characters) works properly if pasted directly into the Firefox URL path menu bar for a live instance of Firefox. The test path strings I used were:
C:\KSSecOfState\Forms\KansasSecretaryOfState-FilingsAndForms.htm
C:\KSSecOfState\Forms\Kansas Secretary of State - Filings and Forms.htm
Does anyone know anything about this problem or how to work around it (other than the obvious answer of taking the spaces out of the file name which is not possible for this application). It seems the problem is specific to Firefox. IE works properly if launched programmatically with spaces in the file name passed to it. I haven't tested other browsers yet.
Thanks! If starting from ShellExecute works the same as starting from the command line then there are two options:<br>
Put everything inside double quotes<br>
'''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\>'''firefox.exe '''"c:\test\svg test.htm"'''<br>
Convert to a valid url with file:// protocol and percentage-escaping the space<br>
'''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\>'''firefox.exe '''file://c:\test\svg%20test.htm'''<br> -
my mac disk is full and i cant transfer files from Mac to USB. saying the format is not good, how can i change the format and what happened to the files i have on USB?
Once something similar happened to me. The external drives I had set up for FCP to use for some reason were not mounted, and FCP put all its render files on the main drive and I couldn't find them anywhere.
Go to applications, and control-click (and hold down) on your FCP icon; you should get a pop up menu that says "show package contents". Select that, select the "contents" folder, then the "mac OS" folder. See if your quicktime file is in there, or if you've got render files in the "render" folder or audio render files in the "audio render" folder that don't belong there.
That's where FCP sticks stuff when your documents FCP project folders are not available or when external drives you've selected aren't available. -
I´m not able to stablish wireless conextion from Macs with Leopard
Hi,
I have a new AirPort Extreme 802.11n and I´m not able to stablish wireless conextion from Macs with Leopard.
I´m following the manual´s steps to connect a Mac and it doesn´t work. Does it have to be with Leopard? Should I do something after updating to Leopard?
Does it have to be connected to the Internet to work? What could be happening? Please, help.
Thanks.
Regards.I update my lap top to Leopard, and was having trouble getting a connection out from a router. I would connect to the wireless network, but never get beyond that. I never had a problem at home with the airport extreme.
It should work. Have you been connected to a different network?
Can you see the airport extreme name as an option? -

CA stops Internal domain names for certificates
I have got this information from digicert http://www.digicert.com/internal-names.htm is there any way to ensure all clients works properly.
Should we have to change our internal domain names to external ones, this will be a problem and visible. It gives us insecured feeling.
Experts please throw your views.
Thanks!

Thanks for the great information from Andy.
Following is some detailed information on Split DNS, just for your reference:
Split-brain DNS is known by a number of names, for example, split DNS or split-horizon DNS. Simply, it describes a DNS configuration where there are two DNS zones with the same namespace – but one DNS zone services internal-only requests, and the other
DNS zone services external-only requests. However, many of the DNS SRV and A records contained in the internal DNS will not be contained in the external DNS, and the reverse is also true. In cases where the same DNS record exists in both the internal and external
DNS (for example, www.contoso.com), the IP address returned will be different based on where (internal or external) the query was initiated.
Hope it is helpful
Thanks

I like to make it go to google search page with the IDN

the puny code keyword when a user enters IDN sub-domain.

Any suggestion will be appreciated. As IE7 is on the road, most major browsers support
IDN(International Domain Name)
I think Server-scripting language should support IDN,
i.e. we should read IDN in server-scripting languages.
I've heard that there are some clues for reading IDN in PHP.

http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/file/5845.html
Then, why can't ColdFusion read IDN?
For example,
#cgi.HTTP_HOST in ColdFusion read EDN(English Domain Name).
We need a kind of cgi variables which is likely named
"cgi.HTTP_IDN" which can read IDN instead of PunyCode.
How can I read IDN in ColdFusion?
Any suggestion will be appreciated. -
I have a mobleme account and an existing iweb website. I would like to create a second website with a registered domain name. How do I do this?
All you need to do is create your second site in iWeb, move it to the top of lhe list of sites in the left hand pane and publish to your MobileMe account. You must make sure the second site has a different name from the first.
Then setup domain name forwarding to the second site following Apple's instructions here: iWeb: Using your own domain name. You will need to setup forwarding at your domain name provider also.
The key is that the second site (with the domain name) must the top top size in iWeb.
Note: with MobileMe scheduled to be discontinued on June 30, 2012, you might begin looking into obtaining another host. When you do you'll find that both sites will need to have a domain name.
When the time comes take a look at HostExcellence.com. I've had excellent results with it. They have a couple of packages that offer free domain names. And most important they have outstanding 24/7, ear-to-ear customer support.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

MP3 upload fails from Firefox from Mac on podcast weblog; Safari, IE OK
Hello --
We're running a podcast weblog on Tiger (10.4.7) server. It's been running well for a year, but recently (after running software update) MP3 uploads from Firefox 1.5 or 2.0.0.1 or other Mozilla browsers on Mac OS X will not attach. The text of the post is loaded, but the attachment does not go through. MP3s are fine when attached from Safari, or from IE or Firefox on Win.
I've verified that Blojsom's Plugin-admin-upload.properties allows audio/x-mpeg,audio/mpeg3,audio/x-mpeg3,audio/x-mpeg-url,audio/mpeg-url,audio/mp 3, audio/mpeg, audio/x-m4a, audio/m4b, application/pdf
Oddly, I can upload a pdf fine as a "podcast" attachment from Firefox on Mac, so it's not a general problem with attachments.
I've also confirmed that mpeg defined as a mime type in /Library/Tomcat/Blojsom_root/webapps/root/WEB-INF/web.xml, which makes sense since MP3s can be added from Safari, etc.
Is there something different about the way the Mac version of Firefox sends MIME info to the server? Does anyone have suggestions for what might be going on and how to fix it?
Thank you.
Mac OS X (10.4.7)OK, finally worked this out. I saw in the blojsom logs that the mime type mpg was failing to be recognized. I added audio/mpg to the plugin-admin-upload.properties file and now Firefox is working again from the Mac.

The problem I think is on boundary, this is the same for message (multipart/mixed) and for first part (multipart/alternative).
In other mails the boundary change on all multipart parts.
