Cant listen to MIME type file..HELP

I am trying to listen to online radio streaming at website www.irirangi.net. I at first was received a promtp telling me the file used MIME format, and that i had to download Windows Media Player to open what I wanted to hear. I then went to the website and have downloaded "Flip4Mac".
Now when I go to the desired radio website nothing is happening and there is no prompt telling me i need to download anything. I click on listen and the station comes up with nothing.Why cant I open anything that uses Windows media.
Can some one please help me?

That site will likely only work in IE.

  • Gnome: mime types, file associations and defaults.list

    I installed the new Gnome 2.8 during the weekend and now my file type associations is completely bloated. The mime system is intact - Nautilus recognises files properly. However, Nautilus doesn't know which applications to open a specific file with. I have read other posts and found useful information, but not the solution.
    This post in FedoraForum gave me a hint to what's causing the problem:
    http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread … post127530
    It seems that the file defaults.list is missing from /usr/share/mime/applications. Apparently this file contains the associations  between applications and mime types. I have not be able to find out which package should provide this file or how to recreate it. Can anyone help - maybe provide the name of the package that provides this file?
    Thanks,

    Yeah, I got tired of Evolution not knowing about opening *.docs in openoffice.  After several hours of research, the key is the /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache,  /opt/gnome/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache, and the MimeType fields in the *.desktop files.  The mimeinfo.cache in /usr was empty and the /opt one had gthumb and other apps but no OO:
    [MIME Cache]
    application/x-gnome-stones=gnome-stones.desktop
    image/jpeg=gthumb.desktop
    application/postscript=ggv.desktop
    ...snip...
    That's a lot of blather to say that the fix for Evolution/OpenOffice was to add the proper MimeType entry to /usr/share/applications/ooo645writer.desktop:
    MimeType=application/vnd.ms-word;application/msword
    and then run "update-desktop-database".  Problem solved.
    Another problem is that within Evolution it says an attached doc is a "application/msword" and not a "Microsoft Word Document".  Unfortunately this is because freedesktop.org decided to use application/vnd.ms-word instead of application/msword like the rest of the world.  If you check the vnd.ms-word entry in /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml it defines an alias msword but the new mime system doesn't appear to recognize aliases yet.  The solution I used was to rename the entry to msword.  Another possible solution might be to remove the msword alias from the vnd.ms-word entry and create a new msword entry based on the vnd.ms-word one.  Then run "update-mime-database /usr/share/mime".  Hope that made sense.
    I think the defaults.list is part of the previous GNOME MIME setup cause I don't have one and I'm not experiencing any problems.  For other apps check for the associations in the mimeinfo.cache's and if missing add the MimeType's to the app's *.desktop.

  • Proxy mime types problem (HELP!)

    I have an application which I have running ow two machines. On one
    machine, WebLogic is running on port 80. On the other machine I am
    using iPlanet Web Server with the NSAPI plugin pointing back to a
    WebLogic server running the same application.
    It appears as though the content types (read mime types) of the
    out put are different between the two servers. On the first
    server (weblogic only), the output appears to have a text/html
    content type whereas on the second server, (weblogic+iPlanet), seems
    to provide the result as text/plain. This does not seem to matter
    when I run with Netscape or IE, but has a significant impact when
    the client is a Palm VII.
    Any suggestions as to the problem and or solution?
    [bryon.vcf]

    You need to set the mime types in the web.xml file. For example:
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>xls</extension>
    <mime-type>application/octet-stream</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>doc</extension>
    <mime-type>application/octet-stream</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    I have had good luck with "application/octet-stream" but you may want to try and
    experiment.
    Now for a question of my own :-) Anyone know how to set the default mime type
    --- that is, if none of the extensions that you explicitly specify matches the
    file, is there any way to indicate what MIME type to use?

  • Cant boot missing hal.dll file - HELP!

    I have just installed my new MSI board, and I have a dreadful problem.  I cannot get my computer to boot.  It tells me that windows cannot start because the following file is mssing or corrupted: Hal.dll
    In fact the file is there.  I know this because if |I leave the windows install disk in the computer it boots ok.  I have tried using the rebuild command from the recovery console, and the repair option, but so far it does not work.
    Has anyone else had a similar problem?  I had no problem with my old board, and so I thought it might be something to do with this new board.  Are my settings incorrect?
    I have SCSI as well as IDE drives, and I cannot tell if the boot.ini file is pointing to the right drive, but I suspect it is.
    Please help!
    Dan

    hal.dll is a dll which interfaces your hardware to the operating system (Hardware Adapter Layer).
    I don't know which operating system you are using, so I can't tell you the total answer to your problem.
    When you boot from your hard drive (as opposed to floppy disk or cd-rom), it will always look for the initial hardware loaders ($ldr$, ntldr, etc) from the boot drive (normally "C") prior to looking at boot.ini. From there it will give you a choice of which operating system to load.
    Incidentally, the loader is a dos based program so only knows about drives 1 & 2.
    the easiest way to get the operating system on the second drive, is to use the install disk from windows by executing "cd-rom":/setup.exe from the start menu.
    After removing the current version of the OS from the scsci drive, you may then install onto the scsi drive.  Ensure that the scsi controller is enabled for booting, so it's BIOS is enabled.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cant listen to certain music files on my samsung stellar

    hello all i have a samsung stellar and have had it for a few weeks now and i really like it  but i have a question i recently tried to put music on to the phone and for the most part all the music i have put on has played,I tried to put a new cd that my son got for easter onto my phone and it wont play, can any one give me a idea what to do i get a error message telling me that the phone doesnt support this file or something to that nature.. any advice would be great.. happy easter to you all

        Redwing, I love having music on my phone as well. It's so convenient! If a specific CD won't play, it sounds like there may be some time of restriction or copyright on the files. If you're using Windows Media Player, there are settings to turn off security on the CD. Since this is outside of VZW's scope, I don't have the instructions, but you may want to check with support for Windows or Windows Media Player, or whichever application you're using.
    Hope that helps!

  • Tech Support created a new user and now I can see but I cant playback any of my files, help?!

    More info:
    We had a tech support guy come in yesterday and make a new user for me, up until then I was working on premiere off of a previous user account. Tech support moved all his files to my desktop. I opened the project I was working on, I can see all my "description" and the clips, however when I try to play them nothing happens. I suspect it's because they are linking to his specific user name which has been deleted. How do I fix this problem or do I need to start from scratch again?

    Start by moving the files off the Desktop and onto a dedicated, internal 'Media' drive.

  • File Download and Mime-Types

    I have some files (txt, xls, rtf, pdf) that need to be downloaded from our site. I
    have an http link to the files on the web page. I've set mime-types for each file
    type in web.xml for that web app. I'm using WLS 6sp2 on Windows 2K. I'm using an
    MVC model for the application with a Controller servlet. Every time anyone tries
    to click on the link and download it, the Contorller kicks them to a default page.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you.

    Go to IIS Management console. At the server level, go to MIME Types. Add a new MIME type:
    File name extension:
    .mp4
    MIME type:
    video/mp4
    Restart IIS (can't remember if this is required).

  • Identifying the correct MIME type for file uploads

    How does Apex identify the MIME type of an uploaded file? I have a page that uploads a file and accesses it via APEX_APPLICATION_FILES. That works fine. The problem is that, for certain file types, the mime_types column is "application/octet-stream" instead of the correct file type. I think it's using the Content-Type from the client browser, though I'm not quite sure. Is there any way to override this server-side in Apex?
    I'm running Apex with mod_plsql. Adding an AddType directive to Apache and adding the correct association to the mime.types file did not work.

    Hi,
    I also noticed this - it seems that Microsoft's 4 char extensions like .docx are not being recognized by application type so that either the web server or mod-plsql is defaulting to the "application/octet-stream" mime type which refers to a file with binary content - instead of the traditional "application/msword" mime type you would expect.
    If you know, at the point of insert into your database table, both the mime type and file name, one workaround would be to check if the mime type is 'application/octet-stream' and the file's extension is ".docx" or other likely extensions and then treat it as mime type 'application/msword", etc.
    Not really a solution but might be sufficient workaround depending on your situation.

  • How to filter with mime types

    Again thanks for the help getting up and running.
    Now that I am up and running I know my task at hand and I have comleted most of it except for a couple of things. Here is my task:
    To have 1 URL filter lists. Lets call it WhiteList-special. What my manager wants is this.
    To all URL's matching the WhiteList-special filter allow the connections filtering out a set of mime types.
    To all URL's not in the WhiteList (still allow them them) but apply a different set of mime type restrictions.
    How can I go about doing this? Do I use the http:// resource and set up the whitelist-special there with a mime list and then in default set up an allow list of basically .* with a different mime type list ??
    Also I noticed that in the mime.types file gnu zip (.gz) was listed as an encoding and not application. Thus if I include the gz mime type in my <Filter "filter-ct" ...> line the gz seems to be ignored. I block all other mime types that are of the application type but I cannot block any encoding type. Am I doing something wrong?
    thanks
    Doug

    Here is what you can do:
    (the simplest way)
    Use a filter that will add a variable to all the mime-types that you want to whitelist.
    Then use a filter to deny all the other types. In the below code, the identity filter is the one that you can use to touch all the whitelist -- (below, it only allows text/plain), and the deny filter will deny all the rest.
    To your question on content-type, check how the content-length is obtained in the below code.
    -------obj.conf------------
    <Object ppath="http://.*">
    ObjectType fn="cache-enable" query-maxlen="10" log-report="off"

  • Downloading spreadsheet mime types via weblogic 6.1

              I'm having a problem with a jsp file -- within the weblogic v6.1
              server environment that wasn't occuring when using v4.5.1.
              The jsp page in question is supposed to handle downloading a
              spreadsheet file via a 'post' method from within another
              (calling) jsp page. The code that (used to) do this looks like
              this:
              <%
              System.out.println("Debug -> /GetSpreadSheet.jsp -> begin");
              //response.setContentType("text/plain");
              response.setContentType("application/vnd.msexcel");
              response.setHeader("Content-disposition", "attachment; filename=list.csv");
              // This is the java class object (previously saved as a
              // session variable) that contains the spreadsheet data
              CList cList = (CList)session.getValue("nameSpace.cList");
              String csvOutput = cList.getCSVOutput();
              // This doesn't work either...
              //String csvOutput = "Testing 1-2-3";
              PrintWriter pw = response.getWriter();
              pw.println(csvOutput);
              pw.close();
              %>
              Note: As you can see, I'm not actually opening an existing
              'csv' file via some file I/O code -- but instead taking a 'csv'
              formated String object 'csvOutput' and feeding it directly to
              the PrintWriter println method.
              With the v4.5.1 app server, when the user acknowledged the
              expected 'download file' dialog box and specified the location
              on his PC to download file, the desired results would happen
              (the file is downloaded). With the 6.1 app server, this jsp
              file goes into a loop (based on entries in a debug log file)
              before eventually timing out. The browser (both NS & IE)
              displays an error page and the file download doesn't happen.
              My original web.xml file (in DefaultWebApp/WEB-INF directory) was
              as follows:

              </welcome-file-list>
              </web-app>
              After reading through some suggestions of some of the WL

              <?xml version="1.0" ?>
              <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.
              //DTD Web Application .2//EN"
              "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">
              <web-app>
              <welcome-file-list>

              </welcome-file-list>
              <mime-mapping>
                   <extension>xls,csv</extension>

              </mime-mapping>

              This didn't help. There was no change with the problem.
              Is there anyone out there who knows the secret to this mystery?

    if your portlet is in C# use this before building the HMTL table
    Response.Buffer = true;Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=YourFileName.xls");this.EnableViewState = false;Response.Charset = String.Empty;
    next, use a string builder System.Text.StringBuilder strBuilder = newSystem.Text.StringBuilder();
    add the HTML table , and return strBuilder (all this stuff must be on yourFunction() )
    On the portlet HTML have a call like this <%#yourFunction() %> placed betweenn <form> and </form>

    Do not understand the problem.
    The code you've posted is a PL/SQL web enabled procedure that produces a dynamic HTML page. This page contains a form. And a full URL reference to the CGI that will process the form's data.
    This is unusual - as it seems to be that the form is submitted across domains and web servers.. You usually refer to a local CGI procedure to deal with a form - no need for a fully qualified URL that includes web server and domain name.
    If the CGI procedure that receives the form is also a PL/SQL web enabled procedure, that the uploaded file will be placed in the documents table (as defined in the DAD alias) by mod_plsql, prior to the web enabled procedure being called. The documents table will contain the Mime type, file name, file contents and other details.
