Cant load gmail except in basic html version

When I go to open my gmail account it comes up with an error page and the only way I can view my emails is in basic html. I have cleared cookies and cache and firefox says I am up to date with the latest version (5 I think).
What else can I try. It has been happening for the last 10 days.
All other websites are working fine
Thanks

Version [[Updating Firefox|6.0.2]] is the newest version, you may also need to [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ update your plugins] . If that doesn't work, try running firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] and see if that helps.

  • Firefox 3.6.13 will not load gmail standard mode under Mac OS 10.6.5. Must go to basic HTML mode. Why?

No problem with gmail basic HTML mode. But standard gmail standard mode hangs with the progress bar just short of the end. No problem loading standard mode in Safari 5.0.3.

This is '''still ''' happening routinely in Firefox 3.6.16 with Snow Leopard and 10.6.7 latest versions.
Have disabled all addons and the settings are as they should be (found many mentions of clearing cache and checking settings -- I'm in line w/ the rest).
This is happening on all 4 macs that I use.

It loads till the almost the end of the bar and just stops there.

I'm having the same problem. It just freezes and wont load the rest of the way.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete your google.com cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

    Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Google maps keeps giving "Still loading... Slow? Use the troubleshooting guide or basic HTML" message and won't load maps

I go to Google Maps and try to enter address in search bar.
Message pops up: "Still loading... Slow? Use the troubleshooting guide or basic HTML"
Nothing ever comes up -- map does not load.
If I append "q?=us" to url (below) (without quotes), it works.

    &q=us does not work.
Starting firefox in safe mode does not work
Map loads but entire page except main menu is non interactive.
"Still loading... Slow? Use the troubleshooting guide or basic HTML"
It comes up on google.com.au but not google.com
It happened after they added the new privacy popup with with MapGL also being added.
Disabling all cookies with Web Developer or browsing in private mode works but when settings are put back to normal it stops working.
I deleted all cookies and cleared cache but that did not help. Strange that clearing cookies did not solve the problem because disabling cookies works.
I tested with another browser and it works... but I want firefox forever.

  • I'm using a Mac OS X (10.9.2) Mtn. Lion (converted to Mavericks) and use Safari for Gmail, my long time email program. Lately I almost cannot use Gmail at all. "Missing Files", "Errors", etc, etc, and can only use it in Basic HTML. HELP!

I have no idea if the problem is with Safari or with the Gmail files.  I get the msg. "Error' over and over and often "you may have entered the address wrong" (when I KNOW I HAVE NOT) and other msgs. which I do not remember at this time. I'm having to use ''Basic HTML" and that seems to be OK - tho it is insufficient. The "Mail" app in OS X works fine but I cannot tolerate the format and must solve this dilemma. Any suggestions?  I've read the "related issues" section and have not found anything closely related to this issue and would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks tons.

  • Why does only Basic HTML gmail work with Mozilla/5.0 on my iMac (Mac OS X 10.4, FF/3.6.13 GTB7.1?

My Firefox browser 3.6.13 on my iMacOS X 10.4 "spins" until I click on it several times. A message box says it is processing scrip at this time. I click on it to stop processing scrip.
Recently, it has been impossible to open gmail unless I click on "Basic HTML." Google tells me to upgrade my browser, but no matter how often I attempt to download and install Firefox 4 I still have FF 3.6.13.

    Hello Ivan.
The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update introduced connection issues as a result of (according to the documentation) "Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy". If that's the problem, you must go to System Preferences > Network and disable the SOCKS Proxy in the network configuration used to connect to the Internet, if it's enabled.
You should also go to System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.

  • Basic HTML Can I set Firefox to automatically load pages as 'Basic HTML'?

Will loading pages as "Basic HTML" load faster?
Pages take 30 - 60 seconds, downloads OK at 1 MB a minute.
Some sites, e.g. Yahoo Mail, have a button to load faster as Basic HTML. Can other sites load as Basic HTML?
So: Can I set Firefox to automatically load as Basic HTML if that site can be?

  • I can't load gmail properly in Firefox. I've cleared cache, cookies, etc. Happens on more than one computer.

I can not load gmail properly. It refuses to load and suggests loading Basic HTML for slow connections. I do not have a slow connection and have no problem loading gmail in Explorer. This is happening on both Firefox and Firefox Developer. The Firefox Developer problem just happened with the new upload this evening. Regular Firefox has been happening for a couple of months. It happens on both my work computer and my home computer. I tried everything suggested including the suggestion to delete cookies, cache, and the cookies.sqlite file.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

  • Where are all the illustrations in this EPUB ebook? (HTML version has them)

I hope someone can help me with this: Using my iPad (and iBooks), I downloaded a fabulous free EPUB-version of an ebook from Gutenberg.org, "Manners, Customs, and Dress During the Middle Ages and During the Renaissance Period" (etext # 10940). Except for the first few illustrations, which do display, the other hundreds and hundreds of terrific Renaissance-era woodcuts do NOT show up in the EPUB version. But when I used my iMac to click on the HTML version at the Gutenberg.org site, all the marvelous illustrations ARE there. Is this problem unique to me? Or is it an EPUB vs. HTML problem? Or something else?

I downloaded and unzipped the 32 MB file: it makes a folder containing a 1 MB htm file, and a sub-folder filled with hundreds of images in the png format.
Not sure if you are referring to a download of a compressed HTML file or an ePUB file here. Basically, an ePUB file is an HTML/XHTML compressed file. Haven't actually opened the latter to check on hit differs from the former.
Is there any way to convert this to one EPUB ebook?
As you indicated Calibre is one free option. My problem with Calibre is getting the format to come out as I would like it to. There are also potential problems depending on the type of encoding use. Sigil is a second free option. However, this app was completely re-done recently, now has many new things added to the graphic interface, and I have yet to read the manual to see how these changes affect the working of the application. Basically this an editor application that allows you to load an HTML/XHTML/ePUB file and edit it to include chapter breaks, insertion of images, deciding what to include in the TOC, metadata editing. I have used older versions to remove the Project Gutenberg errata and license and am anxious to see what the latest update can do. It somewhat slow but being both an editor and ePUB generator, seems to be of more use then eCub which is basically a free ePUB builder. From here you would probably have to movie into the realm of commercial applications. Adobe InDesign is probably the most professional application currently available but I am having problems with the learning curve and will probably have to review the ePUB process to locate specific areas which are currently giving me headaches when export books consisting of more than one InDesign document (usually representing the individual chapters) within the book.
Is there any way to convert this to one EPUB ebook?
Not sure what you are asking here. Before going to the hospital, the only method I tested was the reading of the HTML file online using the Safari app. Unfortunately, that means you have to be connected to the internet any time you want to do your reading and most users probably want the file physically stored on their iPad. Also not sure what you mean by "one ePUB book." Conversion methods were covered in paragraph above.
Is there any way to convert this to one EPUB ebook?
Thank you. It has been 40 years since I was last in the hospital for a broken leg (motorcycle accident), so this is something new for me. Was amazed that the procedure for removing the tumor robotically only required a 24-hour stay in the hospital.
Perhaps they are going through and cleaning up and reconverting some of their older files?
I assumed there was some sort revision process in place as I noted more than one version of a particular file available -- sometimes with Gutenberg dates years apart. Based on this, it is conceivable that they are revising an imaged update which may appear as a separate HTML page listing. (FYI, also noted that only chapters 1 and 12 showed up in the default TOC, so yes, there appear to be a number of things requiring revision.
Stanza didn't help here, so I thought I might see if I could get Calibre to open the whole huge html+image folder, and then export as EPUB. However, even with the latest version of Calibre, it crashes immediately every time I open it... Any suggestions?
Are you saying you tried to import the unzipped file+image folder into Calibre? If so, i believe that was your mistake. If I remember correctly Calibre only accepts the files in their zipped form. Try re-zipping the unzipped folder using the Finder menu "File: Compress" option. Calibre should then be able to load the file into the main window without crashing.
My iMac is up to date with Snow Leopard and the latest version of Calibre is supposed to work with Snow Leopard, so I don't know what the problem is or what to do about it.
Just an FYI... Latest version is dated yesterday (21 May 2010). You may want to update it before retesting your HTML file import work flow as the new version strips ligatures which can create problems with some readers. Best of luck...
