Cant load some web pages

For some reason I recently became unable to access certain web pages that I used to be ale to get into. One is my credit union's home page and the other is fox news' home page. In both Safari and Internet Explorer the page hangs up when loading at the same spot everytime. With Fox News it is at sending request for /js/main2005.js and at the credit union site it is at sending request for /js/lib.js
I assume that the problem has something to do with java script but being a complete and utter non computer geek, I am at a loss as to how to fix this. Any help?

Hi kevin, and Welcome to Discussions!
Open your Safari Preferences
Click on Security
Web Content: Are Enable Java & Enable JavaScript checked?
If not, enable them. Quit Safari, and then reload Safari.
Does the page load now?
The Internet Explorer browser is no longer being supported for OS X. So your version has not been updated to work with many of the newer technologies, being implemented on the Web.
Using my AOL browser, when I go FOXNews,
the page never completely loads. But that may be due to the fact that I have disabled Enable Java.
Using Safari, with the Java & JavaScript enabled, the page loads right up.
Additionally, have you run all of the Java updates for your OS?
Good Luck!

  • Safari won't load some web pages.

Ever since installing Mavericks, Safari won't load some web pages (including these Apple support pages). I'm able to load the pages using Chrome or Firefox. Does anyone know of any settings in Safari 7 or the Mavericks system preferences that would be causing this?
    -Greg

I had the same problem... I ran disk repair and repaired all permissions on the HD then reopened safari now it's working fine.

  • Safari will not finish loading some web pages

I just bought a new macbook pro. As soon as I got it I started installing programs I use (photoshop, lightroom, Chrome, Firefox, etc).  It seemed that from the beginning Safari didn't work properly, but in reading more about my problem maybe it's because I have downloaded programs that changed Safari.
Some web pages work fine, but some don't.  For instance, even the Apple.com site won't load all the way in Safari.  Links or images will be missing.  I tried to fill out a form and when I got to the bottom of the page the "submit" button was missing and I couldn't submit the form.  I try the same page in Chrome and it works just fine.  Firefox is even worse at loading the website though.
I've been trying to read other people's questions to figure it out but no one seems to have the exact same problem.  I tried changing the DNS and reinstalling Safari and it made no difference.  Then I read some advice from Linc Davis to create a guest user.  I tried loading Apple.com in Safari under the guest user and it worked perfect.  Then I tried booting in safe mode as Linc Davis suggested others do and I still had the same problem with Safari, no improvement.  At least I think I was in safe mode.  I turned off my computer and when I turned it back on and heard the chime I held down the shift key.  The grey apple screen came up with the gear turning, but when it came to the log in screen it didn't say "safe mode."  Is there any indication to tell you you are indeed in safe mode?
Any way I restarted normally and can't figure out how to fix Safari.  Any suggestions? Linc Davis?

To anyone who has this same question, I had to find the answer on my own and thought I would post it for you.  I was kind of annoyed that Apple wouldn't even try to help me.  After searching forever on Apple's support pages I finally did a google search and went to some outside sources to find the answer.  I narrowed down that the problem Safari was having was not being able to load images on any website.
    Here was the solution:
    I opened Finder
Opened the Go menu and held down the option key to open the hidden Library folder
    Opened Preferences
Then I deleted all the com.apple.Safari files (there were 4)
Ta Dah! Safari instantly works again.  Hope this can help someone else out in my predicament.

  • IMac won't load some web pages

I just got wireless internet out on my farm and hooked up my fairly new IMac G5 to it. When I connect it directly to the antennae (not through a router) everything works great. When I hook it through a router ( I have used linksys wireless g and a netgear wgr613 v6) the Imac will only load certain web pages. e.g. It will load Apple.com, but won't play the Macworld keynote address. It won't load Ebay at all. It will load cnn.com and others just fine. When I bypass the router, everything loads and works. I have also taken the IMac to work and hooked up to our office ethernet through a router, multiple wireless access points, and hubs, and the IMac works great all of the time. I tried the linksys first and it works for a little while and then fizzles away to nothing working. I then upgraded firmware and it worked a little while longer before dying. The netgear works all of the time for some, but not everything. When I hookup my Windows XP notebook, it works all of the time on either router. I have tried both routers either wireless, or wired, with the same results. Thanks....

Yes, that did it. I put in the two DNS numbers for my ISP and that solved the problem. Still don't understand why that caused it, but yet worked sometimes. Oh well.....Thank you

  • Safari not loading some web pages

Got a problem with Safari where it won't load certain web pages. This happens when I try to click on the buy button on certain web sites (such as Amazon), but not on all web sites. Safari tries to load the page but stops before any content is downloaded. I've tried re-installing the software, re-setting Safari, emptying the cache, cookies are enabled, and proxies are unchecked. If I run Internet Explorer I can access the pages that Safari won't download. Anyone got any suggestions????

Do you have Little Snitch installed? If so, check the Little Snitch preference panel (under System Preferences) to make sure that there are not any Little Snitch rules denying Safari access to any ports. If only HTTPS sites are being effected, specifically check the rule for Port 443, as Safari needs Little Snitch to allow connections to that.
I am not sure, but I think the update changed these rules around, at least on my computer.

  • Firefox freezes when loading some web pages then the computer locks up

Sometimes, when loading a website, the browser freezes. Then the computer locks up and I have to use the power button to turn it off. There seems to be no pattern to this problem. I'm also not sure whether or not the problem begins within Firefox, but a web page was loading every time it happened. It has only started happening this week.

I seem to be having a very similar, if not exactly the same issue. I'm using the latest production FF 11.0 release on Win7 64 and as with this not only does FF freeze, but I can't task switch, or anything. The one thing I've noticed is that when the lockup happens, it always appears to be loading some custom font from a CDN, if I breathe deeply and slowly and allow the request to complete everything seems to eventually unfreeze and I can continue, so maybe something to do with implementation of custom font loading?

  • Airport Extreme not loading some web pages

For the last couple days, my Airport base station has been acting up. I've had it for a month or so, and it's been fine since then. However, recently I can't load some pages (the Apple Store is one of them) and other pages load very slowly (the Apple Support Discussions is one of them).
I tried loading all the problematic pages in both Safari and Firefox, and that doesn't help anything. I know the problem is with my base station because when I plug the internet cable directly into my MacBook, everything is fine. I tried unplugging the base station, updating it, reconfiguring it, and resetting it. The same problems still happen when I'm using wireless, and they still work when I'm directly plugged in.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am suffering something very similair.
Every few minutes I hit a bookmark or link and it does not load.
One light flashes once on the basestation and the loading stalls.
If I refresh the page 2-5 times it will eventually load (lots of flashing on both basestation and DSL modem).
The basestation is 6 feet away from the macbook pro so reception is not the issue.
I was previously blaming TimeWarner and my cable dsl but after switching to Verizon DSL the problem remains. Plugging in via ethernet does not have this issue so it seems clear its a basestation issue.
Any help would be appreciated and I hope I have decribed the same problem as the original poster!

  • Safari can't load some web pages since Lion upgrade

Safari recently stopped loading my bank web site after I put in my log in informatoin. I leaves the log in page and then never goes to the next page. This has started after loading Lion. I have no issue when using Firefox. Only Safari. Any suggestions.

    Could be a corrupted keychain.
Quit Safari. Open Keychain Access. Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the bank keychain and the Safari Forms Autofill keychain.
Relaunch Safari. From the menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab.
Make sure: User names and passwords is selected.
Now click the Privacy tab. Click: Details. Delete the web address for the bank click Done.
Now to your bank's site. Login with your user name and password. You should be prompted to save that data to a new keychain, click Yes when prompted.

  • Trouble loading some web pages but not others

    having a little trouble lately...
For some reason safari and, well, any other browser, come to think of it isnt work on particular pages.
Example. The other day google.com wasnt coming up just spinning its wheels then saying:
Safari can’t open the page “http://google.com/” because it could not connect to the server “google.com”.
Another example: Safari could not open the page “http://cbgundaker.com/” because the server stopped responding.
I called my ISP and sat thru 2 hours worth of trouble shooting and got nowhere. They thought it was a DNS issue but I can reach the sites from other machines in the network so it looks like it is only effecting this particular powerbook. I've sat two machines down next to each other and it'll work on one but not the other(same wireless or wired network). annoying.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    p

pardon me for butting in, this problem is driving me crazy.
i just tried your dns thing, no effect.
what i can't understand is why does my iBook display all 5 pages that i can't display on my iMac? i visit these sites everyday
-the bookmarks are synced between the two, iBook and iMac use same internet
-i copied the iBook plist for internet and safari over to my iMac-no change
-i did all the resets, clear cache, disk utility, ditch plists
-safari, camino, opera, firefox, shirra do not open these 5 pages
-macworld.com opens fine, macworld.com/news/ does not
-my admin account does not display these 5 pages
-i turned on airport, connected to someone's unprotected network and tried the sites to no avail (i have my own wired internet connection)
-it hangs on the 2nd to last item in the progress bar, ie "8 out 9 items"
-this all started sometime after the last security update and before10.4.6

  • What is the high-pitced (like a ray gun) sound I get when I load some web pages?

It happens on about 30% of websites. Example: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/uverse . I thought it might be some sort of malware or security alert, but can't find any viruses on my computer. Does not occur with IE8 or Chrome. Also dont see anything on Firefox options tab that indicates an audio alert option for any problem.

Thank you madperson. I should have posted that I had originally tried that but it's not the problem. The noScript sound is similar but a little lower-pitched. But thanks for posting.
