Cant Load Win 7 64 after rebuild NF980-G65

Hi
I have just bought an NF980-G65 mob., with an AMD Phenom II X4 955 (Deneb 4c)
3.2 GHz, DDR3-1333, 2 MB L2, 6 MB. I also bought the G-skill 1600 ram, I was a bit put of when it came as it was for an Intel pro,
I have it set up with two Nvidia 7800gt G.cards. in SLI
I installed a new hard drive W.Dig. 650gb black. when I tried loading win7 64 i kept getting a blue screen with various faults on it.
It would work as far as the grey line "loading windows" and even the logo sometimes but would then crash.
The amazing thing is that i put my old hardrive back in and it booted up as 32bit win7 and loaded the drivers.
this seemed to work until i tried to install a game and it crashed again all i saw was a quick message about "memory"
needles to say i have returned the g-skill ram as that was the only thing not in the mob recommended ram.
silly boy bought it for it's latency didn't read the small print.
I am with any ram now and I'm having difficulty finding somewhere that has a stock of recommended ram i.e.
Patriot PGS34G1600LLKA, GeIL GV34GB1600C8DC, or lots of very expensive Kingston. £100 is about my limit.
Any way that said, do you think i had another problem?
the mem i bought was GSKill 4GB DDR3 Dual Channel Memory Kit (2x2GB) PC3-12800 1600MHz (7-8-7-24)
Model Number: F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM
I hope someone can help
thank you

Blue screen like that sounds like RAM, or overclocking, or overheating,  I guess you are not overclocking.
I'm using memory modules "specifically designed for intel P55 chipset" (according to OCZ) on my AMD PC.  The only thing is that I had to set up the timings manually.  I was able to set up tighter timings because I'm running slower than rated speeds (at 1333 MHz instead of 1600 MHz), no problems whatsoever.  But I'm not saying that the GSkill RAM that you bought would definitely work though, incompatibility problem is still possible.  I bought my RAM at a local store, so its easy to return it if it didn't work
So, apart from incompatibility, either the timings or speeds were not correct, or you had some defective RAM modules.  Need to run memtest on them to find out.  Also, Phenom II normally accept maximum RAM clockspeed of 1333 MHz, if you set up the RAM to go 1600 MHz that is considered overclocking and may not be stable.
This is the favorite line in this forum:  Check your power supply!    A weak power supply may cause problem as well.
Also try using single card before you do SLI when installing.
Good luck!

  • NF980-G65 not responding after BIOS Flash

Before we start I do admit this is my first computer build and I have a feeling that I will have to RMA this board because of the M-Flash disaster.
    Mobo: NF980-G65
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
    RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM
Power Supply: CORSAIR Professional Series AX1200
    HD: Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1 2.5" 128GB
Video: Onboard for the time being
Basically after fidgeting with the bios for 2-3 hours I found that I was running version 1.1 so I made an attempt to update my bios to 1.4 because in 1.3 they added support for 6 core processors.  Well after I forced flash it wont display video at all or power any USB devices.  I believe the error message before I flashed it was something like ROM ID miss match?  Any suggestions?

I do just have one quick question.  I was planning on using the >>MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< to update my BIOS on the new board that I am receiving after the RMA.  However I noticed that in the Preconditions & System Requirements it said that Quote
The main precondition for using the tool is a working & healthy Windows installation on the system that needs the BIOS flash.
Is there anyway to update the BIOS on the board with no windows install on that system?  The problem is that I cant install windows because the board won't recognize my CPU.  Any recommendation would be great... Thanks again for your help!

  • IPhoto wont load even after trying to rebuild

My iPhoto '11 won't load even after I have tried rebuilding it by simply resoting and by trying to rebuild it from a back up. Does this mean that I need to manually rebuild it by pressing the option key before opening iPhoto? Will I lose data by doing this?

    Make a back up first.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Brand new nf980-g65 no post after bios update

I just built a system using an NF980-G65 with a Phenom II x4 and after updating the bios it has no post.
I am not sure how to proceed. I tried removing all accessories and removing the battery but nothing helped.

What bios did you flash and did flash end successfully or was it interrupted.

  • [RESOLVED]NF980-G65 Hang on windows 7 install. Unable to boot

    Hello,
I'm a bit at wit's end here.  My old non-MSI motherboard was failing and giving me loud beep errors, so I decided to replace it.  In doing so I was required to update basically the whole computer in order to keep up with tech trends and my new LCD monitor.
I bought an MSI NF980-G65, 4 gb ddr3 RAM, an ADM 64 250 dual core, and a Nvidia GTX 260.  After I installed the hardware, I was unable to access windows vista 32 on my old hard drive.  I assumed this was because of driver conflicts. Because I had no install discs (only upgrade/recovery discs) I was unable to boot from CD, so I purchased windows 7.  Regardless of which disc(32 or 64) I use when I set my boot sequence in BIOS to boot from the CD first, this is what happens:
The screen shows a white loading bar that says "Windows is loading"
The next screen shows "Starting Windows" with a small "microsoft corporation" logo below it.  It sometimes has a red pixel on the screen.
The next screen it flips to is all blank.  From there it does nothing, no matter how long I leave it.
I have tried booting with no graphics card(internal only)
I have tried booting with no HD attached.
I have tried booting with only one HD attached (of two I've done this both ways)
My HD's have been checked and they are fine
I have tried booting using another dvd rom drive
I have tried swapping IDE HD slots with that of the dvd.
the DVD does use a pci extension card because the sable is not long enough for the dvd player, but regardless of where that IDE cable is plugged in, it still hangs in the load screen and does not go anywhere.
I've seen this symptom mentioned, but not per this motherboard, it seems like a BIOS setting issue but I feel like I've tried them all (disable LAN etc).
If I try to boot to the old Vista 32 install, it says "starting windows" but the logo does not appear, and the progress bar does not fill.
If I try booting vista 32 in any safe mode the load hangs on a .sys file.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get this going in the right direction? This has become very frustrating.
    Thanks,
    Alex

What are your complete system specs?  Need the complete picture.  What ram and timings?  Tried 1 dimm in slot closest to cpu?
Since posting this I have tried formatting my Small drive listed above.  I was only able to erase the info using Killdisk.  The format from windows using my old Motherboard (Abit) would not work.  Last night I let the system try to install windows 7 all night, I had 2gb of ddr3 in 1 dimm slot closest to the cpu.  I connected only the above drive after it was whiped, no graphics card (limited on board graphics are on the motherboard) and the install still hung as usual.  Does Killdisk do some sort of improper format? I had assumed that it would erase all data to provide a clean slate.  But I don't even thing a HD is required in order to boot up to the main setup screen?
Do I have voodoo in my machine?

  • NF980-G65 RMA board, fried PCIE ports?

OK, so after a miserable RMA experience with MSI several years ago, MFLASH killed my board recently and I had to RMA it. The whole process took 2 weeks, which while excruciatingly long to go without my gaming rig, wasn't as bad as I though. I installed my new RMA board and the PCIE slots are bad. I'm posing on this machine right now with a 250GTS in the slot but its running under Standard VGA Adapter. I have been working on this machine for 2 days now and the only conclusion is that they're fried. The parts I tested with work perfectly fine on my other machine with the same board, and are rock stable, even through 12 hours of prime95 and 8 hours of Memtest86. I have tried...
    4 videocards: MSI 460GTX Cyclone 1GB(brand new), XFX GTS250 1GB, 8800GTS 320MB, 7950GT 512MB. ALL cards work in 2 other machines
2 sets of DDR, Patriot DDR3 1600 2x4GB for AMD systems, OCZ Black Edition DDR3 1600 2x4GB. Both run perfect in my other NF980
3 revisions of nVidia drivers straight from the sight, 2 revisions of nForce drivers
2 PSU: Coolermaster 550 SLI, OCZ 850 Game Xtreme
Fresh Win7 64 install on a spare HDD, wouldn't get past "starting services" when its looking for VGA
As I said, the machine runs great right now, its cool (32idle 54fully loaded) and every thing else works as intended. I have all drivers installed (nForce board & LAN, Creative Audigy) but when I go to install the drivers for the videocard, after it reboots, the system gets to the login screen and freezes after 5-10 seconds forcing a hard reboot. The onboard video works but looks absolutely horrid but no card will function after loading its drivers. I have let Windows load its own GTS250 driver but it does the same thing. Its not the videocards (all 4 are running good), its not the RAM or heat issues. After every driver uninstall I reboot into safe mode and use driver cleaner pro then reboot and reload drivers but they all do the exact same thing. I have tried resetting BIOS safe and recommended defaults, hand tweaking it..EVERYTHING!! Now I will have to try and get another RMA and make it another 2-4 weeks with hundreds of dollars of hardware collecting dust.
Has anyone ever got MSI to cross ship? They can have my credit card number, phone number, social security..hell even my firstborn, I just need to get this thing up and running NOW!! Every store in my area dropped the board from their website within the last 2 weeks and I drove 40 miles from store to store today looking for someone with one in stock, I was desperate enough to do the old sticker switch and return and pay the restocking fee which is less than shipping this thing back again. Things like this make me want to swear off MSI like I've sworn off ASUS but I've been running MSI boards for over a decade (remember the K7NG2-ILSR and Neo4 Platinum SLI!!!) and to me they always put out the perfect motherboard with the mix of features, stability, overclocking and color schemes but I just cant have a system down for 2 months when I've scrimped and saved to buy all these toys and waited for them to ship.
Maybe I'm missing some magical step that I haven't seen in my 12 years of experience. Any ideas?

Ok, I have tried 5 cards now, in all 3 ports and the exact same thing happens. 460GTX, GTS250, 8800GTS, 7950GT, 7600GT
I completed a succesful benchmark with Vantage with the onboard video.
It ran 2 1HR prime95 sessions, 1 with onboard and 1 with a card in the slot (Standard VGA adapter), the system and PSU are stable
Everything was stripped from the case and run at my workstation, with only 1 HDD, 1 stick of RAM, BIOS defaults. It runs beautifully, until the machine reboots after video driver install.
I handle the board VERY gently, but it does a lot of "crackling" like something is loose or not set properly onto the board. As stated, I have another NF980-G65 in my other system and it runs all of the hardware fine and seems to be much more solidly built.
I'm going to box it up and return it again, there simply is no other option. Hopefully the next one will work properly.

  • NF980-G65 and 1075T

I have a NF980-G65 with a 1075T I can get it to get into the bios but thats about it... I tried the MSI Forum HQ USB flashing tool however when I try to start it from the flash drive it just shows blank.
Graphics card 470 MSI Geforce, G-skillet ram 4gbx2.
Anyone have any idea what I can do ?
    Thanks

You never read the manual that comes with the HQ-flasher did you?
As you need to press F11 (for most boards), then in the boot menu you select the USB-drive.
You DO NOT go into the BIOS.
And this means? So windows does load or what?
If you do not describe the problem better there is nothing we can do.
I know how boot from the usb I know its pressing F11 after I do it shows the "floppy screen", just to try out something else  I went into bios too boot from m-flash there is an option too boot from flash with the new bios. (obviously with different usb drives)
So when I try to boot the bios version of the usb drive then I get the checking nvram screen.

  • SSD (Solid State Drive) with my NF980-G65?

I was curious if anybody else owning the NF980-G65 has a SSD Drive installed, and working good for you. I recently purchased one made by Intel http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167035 and wanted to find out if their is any special setting in the BIOS that I'll have to make in order for the system to recognize the drive as a SSD, and not give me fits when I try to do a fresh install of windows 7 (64-bit)?
    Thanks

    Hello to all.
I'd like to know why AHCI mode is being suggested to use for SSD's?  Please tell me why. I just don't understand. I think using Raid 0 Array would be the better choice. How does AHCI mode vary compaired to Raid 0 ?  Is AHCI a better Mode? Does it give better performance then Raid 0?
I see alot of you are having problems setting up SSD's.  I have read the first thing you need to do is make sure the firmware on any SSD you use should be updated.
I also see a lot of people here talking about the need to install Raid drivers.  This is true with all other OS's, but I have found that after a fresh format, even on a new HD, I just installed Win 7 64 bit ultimate I went right into device manager to see what drivers are needed, & to my surprise all the drivers were already installed, including Raid driver & controller. I set up my Raid 0 Array at the F10 prompt, rebooted with OS disk with master drive after setting up boot sequence, & continued from there no problem with 2 150GB Raptor HD's in Raid 0.
I have gone as far as to use a Western Digital HD CD utility disc that has a write zero utility & used it to fast write zero's to the first 63 tracks & sectors including track 0 sector 0 where the MBR is written, & I've reformatted & reinstalled Win 7 from that point, & all the drivers still get auto installed. You can go right into device manager & see for your self. The only driver I ever need my be a sound driver update & Graphics driver.  I'm not forgetting that the drivers that are auto installed are generic & may need updating, but what I'm saying is, I haven't seen any yellow question marks or exclamation points in device manager like you do with other OS's before Win 7.

  • The Woeful NF980-G65.

Greetings all, This is my first post after being refered here by a friend who asked This community for help a while back. A little about myself, i'd like to say i am a computer enthusiast this is my first gaming machine built for myself after building many for others and i love it to bits despite its little problems, and as said i am also an avid gamer, mostly fond of blizzard entertainments Starcraft and world of warcraft.
    I am using the following
    NF980-G65
    4GB 2x2GB Kingston Generic ddr1333
Amd Phenom II X2 550(3.1ghz Stock have gone to 4.2 stable, but for the purpose of testing it shall remain at stock)
Nvidia Gainward, GTX 460 2GB GLH Edition(Oced factory and by myself, i have 2 of them in sli at 860 core, For the purpose of testing these will remain at stock)
TP-Link Wireless N lite Mini pcie 150MBps Adaptor(Top slot the small one)
Various Drives, every Sata port and ide slot is filled mostly western digital above 500GB and a sata DVD Rw drive.
    Corsair TX 650Watt PSU
Dual monitor setup Both are Acer G225HQ's Running at 1920x1080(Probabily irrelevant, but i thought i'd include every spec)
    Raidmax Raptor Case.
    Windows 7 x64 home premium.
Fan setup 2 Intake, one at the bottom , one custom made sitting below the dvd drive just to drag extra air in. 1 Exhaust, and PSU Exhaust 2 Side exhaust over the Cards to expell excess heat that they flush back into the system
    Bios Version 1.2
I guess, i should go through the problems
Before overclocking, it used to 'cleanboot' as in you turn it on and it goes and starts up like normal, After overclocking and even after reseting everything back to factory default even in the bios, it Turns on for 5 seconds then cuts out, then boots up normaly (Only on a cold boot, standard resets after running are fine)
According to PCwizard 2010 from www.cpuid.com and Hwmonitor from techpowerup the Mainboard temperature varies between 86 and 98 degree's when idle and under load, it simply switches at random the rest is below 50 even after a long gaming binge(Except for the GTx 460's ofcourse but they aren't really the problem i don't think)
I have had alot of drama with win7, and i would like to go back to Windows vista the manufactorer and the disc has windows vista drivers, i'd like to return to 32 bit aswell on that but each time i go to reinstall it detects the drives(Fresh isntall too) and gives a "windows could not determine if this computer contains a valid system volume" Error, if anyone could help with that i would be ever so greatful.
And lastly, i would like to know if it is possible to put one of the new 1100T phenom II x6 cpu's in it says it supports the 1090T on the msi site, with Bios version 1.4, just wondering if it would take the 1100T
Thank you for reading, i Eagerly await your reply.

By "resetting" you mean that your unplugged your PSU from A/C power, then >>Cleared CMOS<< and loaded "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS Setup after restarting the system?

See if directing a strong fan at the chipset heatsink will cause a drop in mainboard temperature.

  • Does HYBRID SLI works in WINDOWS 7 in NF980-G65?

    Hello everyone
I have recently installed win 7 on my nf980-g65. According to my information and mobos paper an icon that shows HYBRID POWER and GEFORCE BOOST must come in  taskbar.I have 9800gt and it is compatible with HYBRID POWER. Does anyone have done it yet?
    Thanks

    Thanks Mugen G
But in bios there is a HYBRID SLI option that  we can choose it also in the help of mobo there is a description about that.So it must work.
It is a great ability specially when you want reduce the noise of your computer.Main source of noise that you cant do much about them are vga cards.By this ability you can turn it off completely for simple works like internet surfing or office programs and use onboard graphic .

  • MSI NF980-G65 Blue Screen during Windows XP Install - HELP !!!

I have a MSI NF980-G65 motherboard and it works great with Windows 7 but I can't install Windows XP Home edition 32 bit. Win XP checks hardware, then loads all initial files and when the blue screen with the license agreement should pop open I get a blue screen with an error message that says the computer was stopped to prevent damage to the hardware, that the HDD might not have enough room on it and/or the BIOS might need updating.
The HDD has Win 7 on it and it's a 250GB drive so there should be more than enough room on the HDD and the NF980 came with the latest BIOS v1.4
Anyone have any experience and a fix so I can install Win XP ? Thanks

Then the problem is elsewhere, as that was fixed with SP1.
Or his disk doesn't even contain that level.
However, when pre-partitioned to NTFS even without SP1 should install.
I doubt the problem is his CDrom.
What he needs to do is get http://www.bootdisk.com/ntfs.htm
Run NTFS4DOS and do a checkdisk.
Yes that will solve his problem, as Windows (from 2000 to W7) are to stupid to do a checkdisk when the disk is in a certain state.
And even a Windows bootdisk can't solve it and crashed with the error he has.
Only Linux or NTFS-DOS can do a check disk and restore the error M$-NTFS makes it failing too boot or reinstall.

  • NF980-G65 Must press reset button to get post boot problem.

I've seen other posts here & on New Egg where I ordered the MSI 980-G65 Mobo, about when booting for the first time you may find you need to press the reset button to post boot. It seems this is not an isolated problem.
I read the mobo book while building & read the first thing to do is get into the Bios & load optimized defaults on page En-32. I did that & I always have to press the reset button to post boot every time I start up for the first time. Any self restarts after that are ok. I installed Gskill Ripjaw series DDR3 1600Mhz ram & set the voltage for 1.5v. It booted with ram default @ 1333Mhz. I set the NB freq to 1:4 to set it to 16oo Mhz, I thought it was cuz you have  to OC the settings to get the ram to run @ 1600Mhz. I still had to press reset to get it to post. I know that making any changes other then keeping default settings may cause these problems. I also read here someone else stated to clear the CMOS, move the ram around & it worked for him. I didn't do that.  I decided to load the failsafe defaults, save it, & restart. It booted ok at cold boot. So, back into the Bios I reset all my settings all over again, saved it, rebooted ok from cold start.
One thing to know, The setting for ganged ram @ 128bit is duel channel mode. The unganged setting puts you in single channel mode @ 64bit.  Useing 2 sticks, 2X2GB in Dimms 1&2 as per the mobo book duel channel mode arrangement. CPUZ will verify that your in duel channel mode.
My thanks to the person who also posted about this problem.

    Hi
I hope you don't mind me replying to this thread but it hasa a lot of my problems in it.
I have just bought an NF980-G65 mob., with an AMD Phenom II X4 955 (Deneb 4c)
3.2 GHz, DDR3-1333, 2 MB L2, 6 MB. I also bought the G-skill 1600 ram, I was a bit put of when it came as it was for an Intel pro, as stated previous.
I have it set up with two Nvidia 7800gt G.cards.
I installed a new hard drive W.Dig. 650gb black. when I tried loading win7 64 i kept getting a blue screen with various faults on it.
It would work as far as the grey line "loading windows" and even the logo but would then crash.
I am with any ram now and I'm having difficulty finding somewhere that has a stock of recommended ram i.e.
Patriot PGS34G1600LLKA, GeIL GV34GB1600C8DC, or lots of very expensive Kingston. £100 is about my limit.
Any way that said, as you are running G-Skill ram do you think i had another problem?
    the one i bought was GSKill 4GB DDR3 Dual Channel Memory Kit (2x2GB) PC3-12800 1600MHz (7-8-7-24)
    Model Number: F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM
could you confirm the model number of the g-skill in case mine was a differant type.
    thank you

  • Windows 2008 R2, Network drops even after rebuild, Please help to diagnose

    Hi there,
I've had an issue for a while now and I have been working through it and I'm getting lost and starting to go around in circles.
    I have just rebuild up a Server 2008 R2 x64
    Configuration is
Server: HP Prolient ML330 G6 Quad core xeon 24GB ram (between 2-3 Years Old)
    HDD: Raid1 500GB
    ip: 192.168.1.253
    su: 255,255,255.0
    gw: 192.168.1.1
dns 1: 192.168.1.253 (Was 127.0.0.1) please read on!!!
    dns 2: empty
Roles and SW: AD DC, DNS, DHCP and Exchange Server (in 1 box)
My original issue was network dropping out every few weeks, progressively got worse to being daily. Restarts would fix it, tho would disconnect after hours or a day or 2.
Issues would be that during a network outage, I cannot connect workstations to domain, no network shares. Internet was dead, and a heap of Event ID errors
Server rebuild went well, It's a 2008 R2 setup and it runs basically everything in 1 server 2008 R2.. I know its not ideal but it's what they had setup previously.
So After rebuild I was using it for hours and hours and configuring, adding, cleaning, updating. All was good.
I was restoring of some emails and system was loaded medium to high for a while.
I went home thinking all was good and might connect via VPN and do some work and monitor it all, The vpn disconnected after a few minutes.
I called their office and asked is all normal?
They said network shares and emails have stopped. I confirmed this as the network would do the same thing it was doing before the rebuild.
So I restarted the server and Internet/Network drops within minutes of being restarted. tried many things to solve this..
hours later I installed known hotfixes, updated drivers, and tried so many other things to try and solve this...
I had heaps of Event ID errors before the rebuild, and trying to ping anyone was resulting in General Errors, and cannot ping basically
After the rebuild it has same sorts of event id errors. I had same general errors when trying to ping.
In the end at 2am 2 weeks ago, I finally got it running smoother..
I did 2 things which have made the network last longer then few minutes...
    1. Disabled the Network Port 1 and Enabled the 2nd Port. (Both On board FYI)
    2. Changed DNS in the TCPIPv4 from 127.0.0.1 to (192.168.1.253 (Servers IP))
Since this change, I no longer get event ID errors.
When network stops working the network icon stays normal.
And network is lasting days rather then hours.
Things I've spoken to others about,
    - 127.0.0.1 and changing to 192.168.1.253 these 2 are basically the same both being loopback to server. They both point to itself..
    - The fact the problems reappeared after a rebuild points towards hardware
    - I think the summer heat might have cooked the NIC :p as same day the server crapped itself my clients home wifi setup also died. The range extender died! weird coincidence
    - So I am seriously thinking it cannot be the DNS IP Configuration setting, I know that running all roles on a single server is hard for a server. But I find it hard to believe it was the DNS which caused this error
I have continued to work on this issue through the weeks.,
    The following information is newest
    28th March,
After 2 days of sweet operation.. IE Just after the switch to 2nd port.
    The server's network went down..,
I can ping only 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.1.253 ok
but ping gateway or workstations times out.
Netstat shows heaps of ipv6 and very few ipv4 addresses
I restarted the server, applying computer settings sat there for a while..
dunno if it was coincidence or not but unplugging the Gateway and replugging it made the CTRL-ALT-DEL come up right away.
after boot everything has been ok for 14 hours now...
Now the Network Ports (2 of them are on the server, most likely sharing controller)
Please take a look at my ping/netstat and please make any comments.

A HEAP MORE IPv6 but msg too long
I have noticed currently using the Cisco Gigabit switch the network will last 24-48 hours.
    3th April
I have tested a 10/100 16port netgear and the network lasted for 5+ Days.
    8th April
I noticed network and sharing centre icon has no exclaimation mark looked normal.. so on server I tried to open google website.
    Nothing....
    I pinged loopback. was ok
Ping the modem and not ok.
So I restarted the adsl modem. Within a minute server resumed internet..
I am unsure if the router caused this dropout. And my thinking spans now using a maximum speed of 100mbps it has taken 5 days to drop. WHY is this?
Either the modem is causing this. Or its the server nic running at only 100mbps
    Does it make any sence?
Can a nic on server cause a drop only to restart the gateway to make it startup again.
From my post do you think the port on the gateway is flaky? As you said maybe too much for it to handle.
The modem has 4 lan ports.
Would it make sence to connect more than 1 lan cable from switch to modem?
    Thankyou
    Cheers

Make sure you have the latest ROM bios and proliant support pack.

Install the rom bios, then easiest to boot the HP smartstart to prepare for operating system deployment, then install the complete PSP next.
