Cant log into my macbook! help!! keyboard not working right?

Im trying to log into my macbook, i enter my password and hit enter and when i hit enter another character is put into my password. i try using the mouse after typing it in and its saying its wrong. but i know its not, its been the same since i bought it back in 2010.
Is there a way to see what charactors im typing in my password just in case it is something with the keyboard?
I took the back off it and cleaned everything that i could, but i really dont know what im doing.
I do not have applecare for that laptop. please help =(

Hi - I have the exact same model as your MacBook and had a few questions as mine is acting up. I upgraded the ram to 8gb (2x 4GB ram) and ever since then my computer has not been running as smoothly and the start up time is horrendous. Have you encountered this problem? And if so how did you fix? What would you advise me do?
I was thinking of reverting back to the original factory 4GB then rebooting the entire computer. Any suggestions?

These seem like two different issues from the way your message reads...
1. You can't log into your user account on your MacBook Pro, and;
2. You're using your Apple ID to try to log into your user account.
Your Apple ID (which you used to log into this forum) is generally not the same as your user account ID (unless you've set them up to be the same, which would be odd).
You've verified, by logging in here, that your Apple ID is working just fine, so I'm assuming that it's your user account that you can't log into.

I have a mid-late 2006 macbook and its using Snow Leopard, however everytime I boot up the laptop it goes to the login screen and I log in but it would look like its working but send me back to the log in screen. Whats going on? and how can I fix it?
If I have to restore the laptop, do I have to wipe the hardrive clean first? or can I just restore over it? If I have to wipe it out, how can I do it? Also I lost my Snow Leopard CD but I still have my Tiger OSX around, can I use the Tiger CD to boot the drive so I can trigger my time machine with Snow Leopard?

T42 keyboard not working right, HELP PLEASE

My keyboard is not working right. If I push the key it wont work,but if I hold the key for a couple seconds then it works was told to replace the keyboard and I did with a new one. But it is still doing it. Can anyone tell me what the problem is. Model # R4U machine type 2378, OS XP-PRO , COA SP2 , S/N L3xxxxx.

It's the Quick Selection Tool in Photoshop Elements 9 and I'm trying to get the background and make it another layer so I can even out the color of the background then bring down the transparency. Not sure if that makes sense. I'm new to this.... Sometimes the area it will grab can go ...not fast.. but not slow. Sometimes it's like it's just messed up and literally takes 30 seconds to process each move. I rebooted my computer and re opened it and it helped a little. It's not clear what causes it when it messes up and when it doesn't. Just frustrating. It's probably user error because I'm so new at Photoshop. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

Macbook pro keyboard not working

I had at my grandparents house a Macbook Pro mid 2010 13". Haven't used it for a couple of years. Last night i took it home, still had Snow Leopard apparently tho' i can remember i updated it. Whatever, that's not the point. The problem is that the keyboard is not working. The trackpad is working perfectly, but the keyboard is completly dead. Not a single button. The backlights are working.
What can i do, before trying to send it to an Apple service?

MacBook pro Keyboard not working after coffee spillage. Possible replacement?

4 days ago I spilled coffee (nescafe with sugar, no milk) over my Macbook (mid 2012 non-retina). I turned it off instantly and I've put it upside down. Then I opened it and I started to dry the notebook.
I had few attempts to turn on over the weekend, only one successful, so I gave it a rest until today.
Today I did complete teardown of the laptop with a friend, I sprayed all of the parts with special electronic-contact spray and I was able to turn it on sucessfully.
However I figured out that when I turn the laptop with keyboard connected (regular MacBook keyboard, not external), then there were 90% chances that it will turn off before even booting.
So I spilled ethanol over the keyboard few times, sprayed with the same spray, but no luck. It seems the keyboard is making some non-desired contacts with some electronic part.
The laptop is working without a keyboard, but I would like to change it if possible.
Is there a possibility to change the keyboard? I don't have official Apple store in my country, so I was thinking maybe ordering from ebay. Any suggestions on where I can order a keyboard?

Liquid Spill
If you believe you’ve spilled anything (water, soda, trendy energy drink, etc.) on your Apple notebook, shut it down immediately, lest you continue short-circuiting your computer and thus blasting small holes through its components. Just because your computer works for a while after you’ve spilled liquid on it doesn’t mean you’re in the clear. Damage from liquid spills start out small and difficult to diagnose, and then over time spreads to become larger functional issues.
The best thing to do in this case is to take your Mac to an Apple-authorized service center. But if you are feeling handy and are OK with voiding your AppleCare warranty (AppleCare does not cover accidental damage), you can clean your computer yourself. Unplug it, open it up, and disconnect the battery and all connections to the logic board. Then sit the open computer by a fan while gently scrubbing all sections of the logic board with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol. Clean both the top and bottom of the logic board if possible, then let the exposed MacBook dry in the path of the fan overnight before piecing everything back together and turning the computer back on. With any luck, the crisis will be over.

Macbook Pro keyboard not working correctly.

I have upgraded through a developer account to OS X 10.8 and sometimes when i use safari or any other application the keyboard wont work, so i have to close out of the application and then re open it and if that still does not work, i have to restart the computer. Is this just a bug with the os x 10.8 software, or just my computer?

Since you are a developer and 10.8 hasnt been released to the general public, how would you expect us to know. Post in your developer area.

Keyboard not working right since 4.3

SInce I upgraded to 4.3 the keyboard doesn't always work correctly. When I go in to send a text or email the keyboard highlights as I type, as though it is registering, but it doesn't put any letters where the cursor is. If I hit the home button and go out and back in, it generally works. I upgraded to 4.3.1 hoping it would help and it hasn't. Is anyone else having this issue? (I looked through 15 pages and couldn't find a similar topic) Any ideas on how to fix it?

To be honest these are the solutions that may or may not work.
First thing I would try is rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 15 seconds until you see the white apple logo.
If that doesn't work I would restore from backup. If that doesn't work I would restore as new. If all else fails take it to your closest apple store they may replace the phone for a working one..

Equim A210 - Keyboard not working right

Had major problems with laptop, so did a full rebbot with repair disc, but now laptop keyboard isn't working right.
If i type the letter O i get LO, and if i type the letter L i get OL, the letter E acts just as the enter button does, and if i press I i get KI.
I have read about the functions of The FN key etc, and have to admit that i messed around with the FN + several other combinations, and was wondering if i now have the settings incorrectly set or could it be something more sinister?
i have mcafee which has not detected any spyware or virus, and the system has been reset to factory conditions and all else works as per normal?
Any ideas anyone?

I doubt this could be a matter of wrong setting.
If you would enable something on the keyboard which should not be enabled then you would get another sign but not double letter ?:|
In my opinion its a keyboard issue Possibly something wrong with the hardware
Could you check if the same happens using different applications; Word, Wordpad, Editor, etc.
If the same keyboard behavior would persist using different software then this would be related to the hardware (keyboard issue.)

Macbook Pro Keyboard Not Working - Bootcamp.

Hello, My Macbook Pro 15" has been acting up lately.. Corrupted drives, Bootmgr going missing.. And all that good stuff. Well, I have a 2010 model with a 500GB 7200RPM and 4GB of RAM. My keyboard is the only thing I have not been able to fix. It work's just fine on my Macintosh HD partition, but when I boot into Windows Ultimate x64 my keyboard won't even work only my function keys ( backlit, brightness, volume, ect. ) Nothing else. I have removed all the driver's and re-installed them, still nothing. Please help.. Iv'e been so frustrated with this.. Thanks.

MacBook Pro keyboard not working at login

Hi there,
I had a strange problem today:
A MacBook Pro (Model A1278) was spilled with liquid on the keyboard. After this incident the keyboard didn't react anymore and it was exchanged to a new one.
After booting, the password could not be entered, but with turning up of the login window a chime appeared, that normally doesn't; first I thought the new keyboard wasn't installed correctly, but as I logged in as guest and used the text editor, the keys all worked properly, so the keyboard seems to be working and it should not be a hardware problem.
What I tried: Booting in safe mode; resetting PRAM; SMC reset; disk permissions repair and disk repair. Nothing helped.
Any idea how I could fix this problem without reinstalling Maverick?

Macbook Trackpad/Keyboard not working in X

So I installed Arch for the first time (save for one previous time on a VM) today. Well, its mostly installed, GRUB is being a pain, so im working mounted on the computer via live cd.
Anyway, i installed all of the X packages needed to run a WM (eventually Awesome) and proceeded to test with twm. When it loaded, i found myself unable to move the cursor or even type in xterm. According to the Macbook wiki page, the keyboard and touchpad should work out of the box. Just in case, I installed the synaptic input package, but that did nothing to help. I suppose the problem could have to do with running on the live disk, but im not sure why that would make a difference (im coming from Ubuntu, so installation is a foreign task to me).
I go back to school tomorrow, and I need a GUI to be able to use their internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should care to explain which synaptic input package you installed. The one you SHOULD need is xf86-input-synaptics, I think. Check if you have any synaptics configs in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
Also, you don't NEED att GUI to be able to use thier Internet - netctl works just fine.
