Cant make a 720p Blu ray as all transcode settings come out as 1080

HI
Im trying to make a 1280 720 59i blu ray disk. My input is 29.97 progressive 1080p from Premiere.
Whatever settings I use my encoded BD-Folder build always appears to be in 1920 1080.
I choose my default transcode settings after dynamic link from premiere as 1280 720 59i.
If I import the folder into premiere it says it is 1920 1080  progressive, even though it cant be progressive but I wish it was!
When I watch the outputted folder in VLC it always says it is 1920 1080 in media info and plays at that size.
Even when i import a 1080p clip to a 1280 720 timeline in encore my output is still 1080i.
What Im I doing wrong?
joe

Are you using Encore CS4 or CS5?
If you are using CS5 then you need to do the below steps for this -
1. Right click on your asset in Encore
2. Click on Transcode Settings
3. Select Dimension as 1280x720
4. Select Frame Rate as 59.94
5. Click on ok button
Build your project and the output will be 1280x720 with framerate 59.94.
In CS5 Encore generates the output, based on asset.

The headteacher has just upgraded his Ipad to I07 and when he goes into the school shared calendar any all day events come out red and then other events on that day are obscured as the red covers the whole day

I  have the same proble. In all views all day events don't show up. If I search for the event, there is a result but it does not appear in the calendar.

  • Media Smart DVD, not that smart.... Will only play some blu ray, not all.

When I get a computer with a blu ray player I expect it to play blu ray discs... all of them. It works with some but not all.
The discs it does not work with, what happens is it will ask me "Do you want to check for updates" and there will be a box to check yes or no. In the background it will say disc is ready to be played, just push play. Easy right? HECK NO.
If you check yes, it will do the little wait symbol and process the request checking for updates, then come right back and ask you again, a never ending circle of asking to check for updates. If you push NO, it will go away, then you have a couple options, one is open up the menu and see if there is actually an update... nope. no update there. the other option is do what it says and push play since it thinks the blu ray is ready to play. Once I push play it starts to think and pops up that "Do you want to check for updates" again. It is so frustrating. HEY HP, FIX THIS DUMB CIRCULAR TRAP THAT WONT LET ME WATCH BLU RAY.
And this is a major motion picture blu ray disc from block buster video. Not some copied random disc. So, I know it aint the disc.
    This question was solved.

I am running into this same issue. I have a HPE-180t with a BD-RE BH20L Blu-Ray drive. I put in 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World' and got a message that asked if i wanted to update, to which I clicked 'NO' and then after about 5 sec of it seaching the drive it replied with "Format Not Supported". I ejected and reinserted a few times and tried another Blu-Ray movie (also The Expendables) and it gave me the same message.
I searched the internet and found a forum message with steps to uninstall the DVD portion of MediaSmart and reinstall using Recovery Manager, but after the uninstall now Recovery Manager will not open to reinstall HP MediaSmart DVD.
I then attempted a Windows System Restore to a few days prior, which went through the motions, but then had a failed message upon reboot.
I then ran the HP Support Assistant > Troubleshoot > Utilities> Storage Devices> Optical Drives and ran the test on the BH20L drive which failed in recognizing any Blu-Ray media (movie or blank BD-R). I had just used this drive a week ago to archive some photos onto the blank Blu-Ray media mentioned without issue.
Please help HP, this is really a nuisance for this seriously robust machine.
[edit]...Also I went out to the website for my system looking for any updates and the only one I installed was a BIOS update dated November 2010.

  • How do I make interactive DVD/Blu-Ray menus with motion?

So, adobe doesn't support Encore anymore which means I can't use dynamic link to AE to create interactive DVD/Blu-Ray menus with motion.... or can I? Is there something I'm doing wrong? While in Encore, I go to dynamic link and boom, dynamic link to AE is not highlighted. If I can't make an interactive menu with motion using adobe, then what can I use? This is causing a major problem for me and my clients. (if i over looked the answer to this in another post, my apologies)

You can use the "Create After Effects Composition." This prompts you to create an independent version of the Encore PSD menu file, and opens the layered file in AE CC and creates a new composition with appropriate settings. AE no longer has mpeg export, so you export from AE to AME.
There were some workflow options that I did not play with much, but they were never what I saw as the basics for using AE to create the motion background.

  • How to create 720p blu-ray menu

I figured something out and thought it would be worth sharing.
I'm using Encore CS5 to author a blu-ray but had trouble authoring a menu that wasn't 1080p.  The entire footage of my disc is 720p @ 60fps and so I'd like the main menu, which is supposed to be simply text/buttons over a looping video that is also 720p @ 60, to match the rest of the disc.  But everything I tried resulted in a 1080p menu.  Even if I started with a blank HD menu, the resulting menu size was 1920x1080.  This resulted in my main menu looping video getting stretched and re-encoded, and reduced to 30fps as well.
The solution was to create a 1280x720 blank photoshop file, then Import As -> Menu...in the Project panel.  That provided me with a 1280x720 blank menu that stayed that way when I was building it.

BR does not do 1080p only in 24p.

  • Blu Ray PAL-NTSC Transcode/Encode

Trying to get a 60hz Blu Ray for Festival in the US from a 1920x1080 25p.
The straight-up PAL encode in Compressor send to Toast 10 Pro Authoring w/ HD Plug-In (re-encode never) burn on to the external LaCie (Pioneer!!) BD Drive works like a charm (A little bit of weird Toast Interlacing going on don't know why, but it is MUCH better than the SD cripe compressor usually puts out).
But when I try changing the frame rate to 29.97 things start to go amiss. Final result is uncanny motion blur, especially in shots with a lot of movement - almost as if the fields were getting all messed up. The only thing I touched in Frame Controls was of course the Rate Conversion, set to BEST.
These are the encode settings: (note 66.15 MB is only about a 30 sec test sample I tried - whole 70 minute doc is more like 8.9 gigs)
    Name: Blu Ray NTSC VI
Description: Maximize bit rate for duration of source

        Height: 1080
        Pixel aspect ratio: Square
        Crop: None
        Padding: Preserve source aspect ratio
            (L: 0, T: 0, R: 0, B: 0)
        Frame rate: 29.97
        Frame Controls On:
Retiming: (Best) High quality Motion Compensated
            Resize Filter: Linear Filter
            Deinterlace Filter: Fast (Line Averaging)
            Adaptive Details: On
            Antialias: 0
            Detail Level: 0
            Field Output: Same as Source
        Stream usage: Blu-ray
        Multi-pass: On
        Average bit rate: 17 (Mbps)
            Maximum bit rate: 25 (Mbps)
Any ideas?? Maybe I can just get a US Blu Ray player at B&H and use it for the Festival (not sony) that will play my video at 50hz - Probably the easiest solution, right? I'm not paying a post house 2 grand, no way.

Are you sure you need at 29.97fps bluray for the festival?  Alot of HD systems are framerate agnostic.  Check to make sure that you need 29.97 fps from the festival.
That said, the best solution is to use cinema tools to conform your qt to 23.98 fps.  this will slow down your qt a very slight amount and shouldn't be noticeable.  then most any system will add pulldown to 29.97 if necessary.

  • No matter what I do, all my PDFs come out as RGB, instead of CMYK.

I am running Quark 6.5 with Acrobat version 4.0 Professional's PDFwriter on a PC, under Windows XP.
I can only pake PDFs from my Print menu, by selecting, Adobe PDFwriter, AdobePS Acrobat Distiller or Adobe PDF Converter.
When I attempt to use Export, it doesn't make PDFs at all. So I have to use Print.
I have spent three days sending PDFs to the printing plant and, no matter what settings I adjust, the pre-press expert keeps on telling me thay're all arriving with RGB separation. Now he tells me it's even failing to embed fonts. So it's getting worse.
Would somebody please help? This is killing me.

Have you checked your settings in Preferences?
PDF  check "Directly to PDF" rather than the other choice "Save ps for distilling later , or whatever it is, can't remember the exact wording for that other choice.
When you then select Export to PDF you should have an options button, another window will come up with several tabs.
In one of the tabs you can select Composite and CMYK.
This will create a CMYK PDF.
I believe at one time Quark used something called Jaws to create PDFs.
In 6.5 the presets are limited and don't have any of the PDF/x settings.
Thank God I was able to avoid using Quark (a program stuck in a 1980's time warp) very much.

  • Microphone too quiet in Windows 8.1 all volume settings maxed out.

Hello, about a two months ago I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and after that, my microphone in Skype doesn't hear me unless it is maxed out and I am shouting. It works without problems in Windows/other applications (Windows Sound Recorder, Teamspeak 3, Portal 2 ingame voip, ...) So my specifications are following:Windows 8.1 Pro 64bitSkype 6.16Headset Sennheiser PC 360 http://www.alfacomp.cz/php/product.php?eid=105HK5000000000ZFKMotherboard Asus P8Z77-M Screenshots of my settings are attached  And here is what i tried to doo:1) Updated Skype and alter reinstalled Skype.2) complete uninstall and install of Skype according to this https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10634/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then-reinstall-skype-for-windows-desktop3) tried different driver versions (latest version for W7, W8 and W8.1) from here http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77M/HelpDesk_Download/, latest available from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ (version 6.0.1.7246) and even these which Windows Update installed.4) Tried Skype App for Windows 8 (enabled permissions for microphone and webcam)5) Tried different microphone.6) Chatted with Skype support and went through their checklist of settings to make sure I didn't forget anything Any help would be appreciated.

i am having the same problem here is what i tried i have tried trouble shooting this problem many ways but it never quite works. i will list what i have done so far. 1) tested with another mic. same effect 2) maxed the mic volume in the skype settings 3) tested with another audio recording software. mic still works great 4) tried resetting everything i could think that would help (computer, skype, skype settings) 5) when i tried resetting skype settings by going into appdata and changing the skype file into Old_Skype forcing skype to reload its settings, it would appear to work wonderfully when i started up the software. it would walk me through the setup settings and the bar that shows mic volume was going up to my voice as it normally does. then after setup and i get into a test call, my mic is back to sounding incredebly quiet. 6) i went into sound setting and tried many combinations concerning mic boost which was already up, tried disableing software setting override, tried disableing all sound effects. all still nothing. i am using a turtle beach x12 but that shouldent be the problem because a logitech i have is having the same problem. i am running on windows 8.1 i have tried skype calls with friends they all say my mic is very quiet. much much quieter than normal, even when yelling into the mic. if i think of anything else you may need or if you ask for it i will add to the post.thank you all Edit: after more testing i may have discovered the problem. skype is only detecting my onboard mic and is trying to use that (im using a laptop). how can i get skype to detect my turtle beach headset? other programs seem to just fine Edit 2: disreguard the first edit. when speaking into the mic in a way that the on bord mic wouldn't be able to pick up, skype got the sound i was sending into my headset mic. still quietly but somewhat louder because i was closer to the mic on the headset

  • HT201401 Why is it that all the sound comes out of the right speaker when playing music? The left speaker seems to be blocked or damaged what do i do to be certain that there may be a problem?

I have just noticed whilst playing music on my iphone4 that the sound doesn't  play on the left side, as if it has broken..not sure whats going on. I have tried different songs ..changed EQ but i think think is internal. This has happened recently as i noticed the change in sound straight away.

So why is it that my friend who is directly in front of me with iphone 4 and both speaker holes sound... Yet another friend next to me has same problem as me? We are covering one finger over one side and comparing. Left no sound.

  • HT201272 Has this ever happened 2 u?. I downloaded several albu ms after paying for them and they all didn"t come out or only part of a song came out.

have u ever had downloads of music to your computer not come out after downloading was complete?

    I got it out!
    Here is how.
None of the Apple-suggested ways worked. However, before totally giving up I started Roxio Popcorn and pressed the big eject button on it. It came out effortlessly!
    So, I thought "Weird..."
I put the CD back in and reproduced my original problem. I got it out just as easily using Roxio Popcorn Eject feature.
So, I then thought "Maybe it is the disk?" There is nothing wrong with the disk as far as I can tell. It is perfectly round, has a smooth label-side surface. It is not even a label, it is a standard software install disk you buy in stores.
I inserted a different disk. The mini mounted it, I browsed it, and then ejected it by dragging it to trash. Worked fine.
I tried a few other disks.
The drive seems to work fine.
Maybe that CD is cursed, I dunno. I tried that disk in my PowerBook and it works fine there.
    Who knows ?
I am still backing up my hard drive as I type this message in case I need to take it to the store.

  • DVD Remote "skip" Function Doesn't Work for Blu-ray Projects (CS5 Encore)

I have graduated from SD to HD and I need help.
I just finished my first HD project in CS5, burned it to a Blu-ray disk and immediately encountered a problem: the skip forward and the skip backward remote functions don’t work. (I have encountered several other problems on the way to get here but I solved those with the help of the manual and by browsing this forum ). In this project, I am doing exactly what I have done in my previous SD projects (where this function works):
In CS5 Encore, I added “Chapter Points at Intervals…”.
On the timeline Properties Panel, I kept the default selection “Operations: All Permitted” (that includes “Search for Chapter” in the “Permitted User Operations” menu).
In the “Project Preview” window, clicking on the “Next Chapter” or “Previous Chapter”, the function is executed correctly.
Still, after burning the blu-ray disk and pressing the “skip forward” or “skip backward” buttons on the Blu-ray player (Panasonic DMP-BD65) remote, the “Operation is not permitted” message appears. (This very remote button function works on all my SD projects.)
More background info: I am also using Encore Chapter Markers from the PrPro project linked with Adobe Dynamic Link, chapter marker End Actions (Jeff’s The Focal Easy Guide to Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, pp. 178-180), and Bill’s advice on using the “dip to black” transition to avoid the ~1 second gap between chapters in the Chapter Playlist that I use to play all chapters.  The following observation may be unrelated: in Encore’s Monitor Panel, the “Step Forward” button with pressing the Alt key does not move the CTI to the next GOP mark. The “Step Forward” or “Step Backward” functions (without pressing the Alt key) work (moving the CTI one frame)..
At this point, I desperately need the Forum’s help.
    Thanks,
         - Laci.

Up to now I worked only with standard definition projects and outputted them
to DVDs. This is my HD project. My problem is that I am a bit confused with
the proper (and simple) settings for a blu-ray project. Your
questions/comments imply that I am making a "DVD project" - but then, how
can I burn it to a BD?
Here is what I am doing, and please, let me know if/where I am making my
    mistake:
    1.       On the camcorder the recording format is set to "AVCHD 1080/60i
    HA".
    2.       In the CS5 PrPro new project:
    a.       General > Capture Format: HDV
    b.      New Sequence > Sequence Preset > AVCHD > "AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)".
    3.       In Encore: File >  Project Settings > Basic:
    a.       Authoring Mode: "Blu-ray"
    b.      Transcode Settings: "Codec: MPEG-2; Dimensions: 1920 x 1080; Frame
Rate: 29.97, Fields: Upper Field First, Audio Transcoding Scheme: Dolby
Digital, Maximum Audio/Video Bitrate: 15.0 Mbps"
    c.       In the "Default Transcode Settings" window, the Blu-ray tab is
highlighted. (There, I could change the codec from MPEG-2 to H.264 -
according to some articles it would give slightly better quality in certain
    circumstances - I don't know.)
    d.      On the Encore Project Panel, right clicking on the sequences, and
choosing "Transcode Settings" from the menu, I get a window that says "DVD
Transcoding" and "Blu-ray Transcoding". In the Blu-ray Transcoding section,
I choose Codec: MPEG-2, Dimension 1920x1080, Frame Rate: 29.97, Quality
    Preset: Automatic Using Project Settings.
    e.       Going into the "Edit Quality Presets", I change the "Export
Settings Preset" to "1920x1080i 29.97 Maximum Quality" (from the 1280x720)
    4.       Now, in the Project Panel, under the Blu-ray Transcode Settings I
    see: "1920x1080i 29.97 Maximum Quality MPEG-2".
Are these the correct settings for a high quality Blu-ray project? I am
re-transcoding the project with these settings to see if I still get the bad
    transitions.
    Thanks for your advice,
    Laci.
