Cant open a file in CS6 that opens in CS4

I have a file that can be opened in CS4 but not in CS6...
In CS4 I get this message:
PIXEL ASPECT RATIO CORRECTION IS FOR PREVIEW PURPOSES ONLY, TURN IT OFF FOR MAXIMUM IMAGE QUALITY
So I go to turn off the Pixel Ratio and the file adjusts and I can open/edit it.
In CS 6 this message appears and the file cannot be opened
"Photoshop can only decode FAX encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide or tall"
Is there some setting in either CS6 that will allow me to opent this file or something in CS4 that I can save with the file so it can be opened in CS6?

Yes it is likely we need to direct you to the forum specific to the software you are using. First I would recommend double checking your file associations to make sure the files in questions are set to open in the desired application. Second which application are you trying to open the file in?

he problem appears to be one of "file association", Windows needs to be told what program you want to open your files. Go to My Pictures, highlight one of your images and right click. In the dialogue that opens choose "open with". When that dialogue opens, run down the menu to the "choose a program" option and when that opens choose Photoshop..............then, and rhis is the important bit, put a check in the box "always use this program to open this type of file". Click ok out of that, and that should be it set......................if you have more than one file type (.jpg, .tff, .png etc etc) you will need to follow the routine for each file type.

Maybe the document is corrupted. Can you open other Pages documents? Preview may open it. Right click (or control click) on the document in Finder and Open With > Preview.
If that works, Edit > Select All, Edit > Copy. Then paste into a blank Pages document. Formatting may be messed up, but you will have editable text. Then Save (with a different name), close and see if you can open the new document.

A FCP user gave me .mov's that PP CS5 cant open, what can I do? (File link enclosed)

A FCP shooter gave me .mov's that PP CS5 cant open, what can I do? I guess she rewrapped the files because as they try to import into cs5 a FCP loading diologe box opens stating: Importing FCP XML.... Afterwards it says i dont have the codec necc.
I'm PC based only.

If you tried XD Decode you must think that they originated as XDCam then, right? That is the codec I had to buy and once it was installed everything was transparent and normal. So I'm not sure what the crashing is all about, assuming your system meets the minimal tech. requirements. I'd give it another try if you haven't already.
Your best hope would be to locate the original camera files, which could very well have been deleted following the .mov copying via the Mac. I've had no problem with native XDCam in Premiere. The next best solution might be to have that FCP user do the conversions to another file format you can use. Hopefully there aren't thousands of them.
Firstodd, that's very interesting that your Avid MC was able to work with those files. I just found this from an Avid doc of last year: "If you want to play the exported movie in QuickTime, you need to purchase a third-party QuickTime plug-in. Avid recommends the Calibrated{Q} XD Decode from Calibrated Software"
Still, for the $80 I spent a year ago, XD Decode was well worth it in time saved. I see the price has gone up $50 since then though.

Use the command File > Save As > Save A Copy As CS6.
Also, you should install the updates. You're two big bug-fix updates behind.

Cant open a file made with older aftereffects

i just downloaded this file from the internet it is a aftereffects template. i downloaded the aep file and tried opening with AE cs6. it said that it cant open cuz its made with a old version of AE. I am pretty sure that it should have backwards compatibility, i mean i would understand if CS4 cant open CS6 file. but if CS6 cant open CS4 file that's weird, and i am really confused.

Are you sure the file is CS4 and not AE4. CS6, according to the documentation CS6 can open AE7 and newer files.
The file could also be corrupted.

Sign in with your Adobe ID and password, and then convert your word doc into PDF.
Please let me know if that works.
If you have Adobe Reader, you cannot convert .doc file to .PDF by drag and drop.

In your Start menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the Bonjour Service and select "Properties".
In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Disabled":

when you were install your cs3 you should have been prompted for you serial number. were you?
if not, you probably didn't properly install cs3. copying/migrating/moving etc is problematic.
if yes, did you see any error messages during installation?
if yes, attach a screenshot of the error message.
if not, check you install logs, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC

EDIT:
After posting I see this question has the tag of "windows". I don't know if this applies to the Windows version or not.
The only time I see this message is if I download something, trash it, AND empty the trash. If I don't empty the trash, it finds it there. It will find it wherever I move it to, unless it is was in the trash and emptied.
Using Finder, is the downloaded file in your Downloads folder?
Maybe if you go to Safari/Preferences/General and change the location for downloads to something else then change it back to Downloads it might correct it.

My CS6 files will not open in CS4

I own the CS4 creative suite, and for a period over the last few years have been using CS6 from school. Now that my License has expired for cs6 my files wont open in cs4 at all. Is there a way to retrieve them with out having to buy cs6?

with id cs6 you have to save your file in idml format.
than open it with cs4 and resave it.
