Cant open CD/DVD after Sleep or ShutDown.

After putting Mac pro to sleep and then restoring, the super drive will not open, either with the keyboard eject key or the eject on menu-tool bar. have to reboot to get drive to open.

It would depend on the burning software. I use Roxio, and you can set things to "read only" where they have to be copied from the disc before they can be opened. Usually I burn things to run from the disc.

Tested your file and it is corrupt.
My only suggestion is to find a backup copy of the file as Keynote files have the reputation of being unrecoverable once they become corrupt.

I cant open existing DVD SP projects anymore.

I am running 10.6.6. with DVD SP 4.2.2. I cant open projects that were built maybe a year ago. I get the error message "Invalid project file format" The project was made March 2010. This is also true for other projects.

We've seen this often over the last few months so scroll down or search, you should come up with something helpful. IIRC, a recent ProApps update damaged some folks' DVDSP. But not everyone; my two installations were unaffected.

Can't open folders/explorer after sleep or hibernation

I recently started to have this problem where when the laptop is woken up after either a sleep/hibernation, I can't open any folders. I can't open the computer icon, any folders on my desktop and the Windows File Explorer. I can, however, open the files (Excel, IE, Firefox) on the desktop even when this problem comes up.
It doesn't happen every time the laptop is woken up from either state but happens at least every other day.
In order resolve the issue, I have to restart the computer or log out and re-login.
I thought I had some corrupt files so I re-imaged the HD to its original state, but the problem came back.
Any thoughts or suggestions???

This worked for me: I trashed my mouse prefs, then restarted, then -- goto System Prefs --> Keyboard/Mouse --> Mouse --> Double-Click Speed: Now move the speed a minimum of one notch below FAST.
Yesterday I installed a Logitech MX Revolution, cordless mouse and lost the ability to double click with it and with my Mighty Mouse. Resetting the double click speed below FAST miraculously reset.
All seems OK now.

Hi, yesterday i had to restore system to 7 days ago, I also installed ph cc 3 days ago, so when the restoration finished i was not able to use it. When I open creative cloud manager it says that i have photoshop installed and updated, but that is not true cause i cant use it. I unistalled creative cloud, i deleted all files of photoshop, reinstalled cc manager and still having the same problem, still cant use photoshop cc. I hope u can help me cause i cant unistall PH , cause its like not installed. Thanks you.

Cant open illustrator in After Effects

There is no option to open my illustrator files as a composition or as separate layers in premiere. It only imports the file as a whole .ai file with all the layers on top of each other. Im not sure if there is a new way I need to import or some setting I need to change, or if it is a feature that is not offered. Just need some help!

You're probably needing After Effects if you want AI or PSD files separated into layers.
PP is more of an editing package, not a compositor.

Cant open PDF's after being burned to a CD

I have an issue where a user is buring pdf files to a CD and when they try to open them is gives and error of not supported or currupt file. The weird thiing is that she can give it to another user and they can open it fine. Also if she burins another file then she can open the first one she tried opening earlier and couldn't. After she burns three files to the CD then she can open all three. She is on the latest version of Reader and so is the other user. I have tried repairing and reinstalling Reader with no luck, I have also tried turning off protected mode and have had the user try buring from the local drive and not a network share folder. Anyone have any ideas of what this could be?

Cant burn DL DVD after Leopard Install

Hi, Hopefully Im not the only one having this problem after installing the new Leopard OS X (and from doing extensive google searches it doesn't look like I am). Hopefully someone has a solution because calling into support they didn't.
Previously with Tiger I could burn to all my Memorex DVD+R DL discs. Now no such luck. I get error codes from finder that say:
Burning the disc failed because communication to disc drive failed. (Error code 0x80020022)
When burning in Roxio Toast Titanium 8.0.3 I get the error:

The drive will be degraded to this if you have Parallels (3.x) running. I have proved this by displaying the profiler when it is running and when not (suspended). The profile for the drive is different in each case and the DL capability is there when it is not. It is possible that VMWare Fusion may do the same
That said I cannot make a copy of my Leopard DL install disk. The cdr file was created fine on disk using DU, and can be installed to an external drive using DU Restore. The result is a bootable external drive which works fine. However I cannot get the same image onto a DL DVD using DU or Toast 7. The disk writes fine, but when reinserted into the drive it whirrs for a while and then ejects. Any ideas?

Cant open boot archive after copying Solaris 10 from one machine to another

We are running "Solaris 10 3/05 s10_74L2a" on a Sun Fire 480R.
I tried to, using ufsdump to copy the filesysem to a T5220 which has 4 disks, the first 2 disks are a mirrored os of a Solaris 10 version already there.
So I restored the ufs inages to the 3rd disk, ran installboot with the bootblock from the restored image for s sun Fire 480R as there did not appear to be a bootblock for a T5220 , as its a more recent server.
ie:
installboot /mnt/usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/fs/ufs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0s0
/mnt/usr/platform/SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise-T5220/lib/fs/ufs/bootblk: File not found
so I do this instead :
installboot /mnt/usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-480R/lib/fs/ufs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0s0
Now then I try to boot I get :
Boot device: /pci@0/pci@0/pci@2/scsi@0/disk@2 File and args:

Evaluating:
The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.
but, as far as I know this old version of Solaris did not use a boot archive and there is no directory /platform/sun4v/boot_archive in the restored files, nor on the original server.
So, my question is, if the old version of os did not support a boot-archive, why is this restored image, when I boot , giving this error.
Surely all the data on the 3rd disk should be the same as on the old server.!!
What am I missing here ??

Well, you can't just copy an OS from one type of system to another and expect it to work. For one thing the OS communicates with its hardware through the /dev/ and /devices layer, and that layer will be completely different when you transfer it to another system.
Second of all the lack of boot block for the T5220 in your installation indicates that your version of Solaris 10 does not support the T5220 platform, which probably means that it will be impossible to boot completely on it anyway..
I'm not sure when the SPARC systems started to use the boot-archive..
Anyway, the two things you have missed is to create the boot-archive (with bootadm update-archive -R /mnt), and to run devfsadm on the new platform (devfsadm -r /mnt ).
Even so, there is no guarantee that your version of Solaris actually supports your hardware.. But i guess that's documented in the Sun System Hardware Handbook..

I have recently upgraded in firefox 4 and when I click on the short cut, it stated I needed to restart. After several attempts, and the same message, I performed a system restore. When I click on the short cut it does nothing. Any ideas?

Is this how you do it?
Restore from iTune Backup
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
11. Select Restore from iTune Backup
12. You will see picture of USB cable pointing towards iPad
13. Connect iPad to iTune (make sure iTune is on standby)
14. Tap Continue (computer)
15. Restore iPad from Backup (computer)
16. See progress bar with estimated time (computer)
17. See Restore in Progress on iPad
18. See Apple logo
19. See Apple and Progress Bar
20. Slide to Unlock
21. Copying Apps back to iPad (computer)
22. You'll see Loading/Installing/Waiting below the Apps (iPad)

Cant open photo library after interrupted import

I have 9 GB of photos that I can access. I have a dodgy cord and when I was transferring some photos it disconnected midway. Now I have a new library with only a few photos. When I try and switch to the other library it doesn't let me. It knows its there just won't open. No error message or anything? Any help would be appreciated.

Disconnecting after sleep or shutdown

Since I did the last security update (this week), whenever my Mac wakes from sleep or I turn it on, I need to reselect my Airport network in the menubar in order to connect. In the past my network was preselected. I tried changinging the setting in the Network Preference pane to Keep Looking for Recent Networks, but that didn't help (it did not stay selected).

In System Preferences>Network>AirPort, delete the network from the preferred lists, add it back and choose By Default Join Preferred Networks. Does this help?
