Cant open documents in pages beta

We have updated to Mavericks and as a result have iWork beta
Today we did the pages update on my iPad and now the documents are no longer readable on both the macbook and the iPad. I can see most of the documents on iCloud but they cannot be opened, emailed etc. Get the message "document cannot be opened" please try later.
We have tried the reset of Documents and Data to no avail.
We have not updated the software on my iPhone and all the documents on iCloud are there and can be opened and edited and emailed etc.
The problem is obviously a software problem and Apple appear to have updated something that is not working properly.......!
We have hundreds of documents stored on the Cloud and we really need this to work properly.
We have not tried using numbers or keynote yet - don't want to get too depressed.
Please let us know if anybody finds a solution to this and when Apple might be fixing it.

Could you clarify a bit? iWork beta (this forum) is the set of web apps you can use when you go to icloud.com with your browser. It is totally separate from iWork/iOS and iWork/OS X and doesn't depend on Mavericks, you can use it from earlier versions of OS X too.
When you get the "document cannot be opened, please try later" message, is that when you try to open the doc with the browser web app? Or the others, or all of them?

Your “invisible” type may be the result of a recent update to 10.6.4. Did you just update via Software Update in the Apple menu? That has caused a variety of problems, including not seeing the type. The remedy is to update with the Combo update available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048
Also, be sure that you have the latest version of Pages.
Try this and let us know if any problems persist.

Cannot get ipad2 to open documents in pages, iAnnotate or goodreader

I have previously been able to open documents in pages, iAnnotate and good reader. For the last week I have not been able to. Drop box also affected. When trying to open a document, the screen pauses and cycles, but nothing happens....please help.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

Hope apple can fix this soon if new patch 10.9.4 cause this.
Apple cannot fix problems they did not create. Eset and Avast are capable of doing nothing beneficial and can only cause problems. Uninstall it and determine if the problems subside.
Use Avast's uninstaller, which will remove it completely. Eset requires using the uninstaller included with its downloaded installation program (see screenshot):
Eset will also require manual techniques to uninstall components its uninstaller leaves behind, a common characteristic of poorly written software.
I am now can access an internet, with zero security.
It's a common misconception that you have "zero security" without junk such as Eset or Avast. OS X already includes robust protections against viruses and malware. Use your Mac the way it was intended to be used - without burdening it with useless garbage.

1. What is the error message that you are getting?
2. What was the URL that was provided?
3. Are you getting this error for a specific document or for all of them?
4. Can you try downloading Reader DC from Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions and re-installing on you machine.

Can't open document is pages

I cant seem to open any documnets in pages or create new documents. I dont understand why it used to work fine. When I open a documnet pages jumps in the bar and then nothing happens. The toolbars open but that is it.

Sounds like some of those may be Pages '08 files.
You need to open and resave those from Pages '09.

The best advice is to exclusively use Pages ’09 if it was installed prior to the Pages v5 upgrade downgrade. The older Pages will be found in /Application/iWork '09. Any double-click on a Pages document will invoke Pages v5.
I would bet that you had Pages ’08 or ’09 previously installed (now moved to /Applications/iWork '0?). Pages v5(.2) dropped support for Pages '08 and RTF documents. Pages v5(.2) document architecture is incompatible with Pages '09 while still retaining the .pages extension — just to keep you guessing.
If you attempt to open this new document architecture in the older Pages application, it will not tell you about this incompatibility, and just remind you to that you need the new Pages version. It is too stupid to notice that the latest Pages v5 application is installed. If you open a Pages ’09 created document with that application, you will get the same warning, because Apple thinks you should use Pages v5(.2) instead.
Pages v5(.2) will be all too glad to open a Pages ’09 document without any acknowledgement that you are entering the Twilight Zone, and that this document has quietly been transformed into a Pages v5 document architecture — no longer compatible with Pages ’09. Although there is an Export > Pages ’09 feature, the significant differences in application feature support means that you likely will not get a 1:1 correlation export compatibility with Pages ’09.

I can't save my open documents in Pages.

I have 2 untitled documents in pages open. I have the animated progress bar spinning and spinning. - I have tried to reinstall Pages but that dosn't cut it. What to do ?? Please help.

I have a similar problem although I'm running OSX 10.9.5. I'v just started to completely remove pages and attempt a reinstall. I did the search for the plist file. There was only one file with the com.apple.iwork.pages name but it did not have the .plist extension, even when I checked the info page. Is this the same file?
I'm not sure I want to update to Yosemite yet, but it looks like I may have to in order to continue to work with my pages documents, unless the reinstall works.

Can't open documents in pages

Hi. I have an ipad 2 and purchased "pages" to use on it. Something seems to have gone wrong with it. I had to delete it and when I reinstall I get all the folder I had created. I can open the folders but I can not open the documents inside the folder. The document seem grey and they have a bar running across he bottom of the document. I can see all the documents in the cloud store but can't get them onto th ipad. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong. Thanks. DMJ

Does that error message say any more than "The document xxx can't be opened"? Do any Pages documents open or is it all of your previously created Pages documents? Have you tried opening a .txt (text) or RTF document with Pages?
With most programs, suddenly not functioning as it should is often a problem of corrupt preferences. Have you tried opening these Pages documents in another user account? If that works, the problem almost certainly is corrupt preferences in your user account. Go to HD > Users > [your account] > Library > Preferences & delete the com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist, empty the Trash & then restart Pages.

Opening document in pages on ipad with icloud

I get message saying "Open Document This document may look different on your iOS device than on your Mac. Use Open Copy if you want to preserve the original." Then has two options: Open Copy or Open. How should I proceed. I thought I could just drag my document into the iCloud and then edit from either one of my computers or one of my iOS devices and the change would take place on all devices? This seems to me that Im going to have duplicates taking up cloud space and one may be updated and the other not? Am I correct? Thank you for any help. To me its clear as mud. Oh yeah I'm using an iMac, MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.4 on each and an iPad 3

The document is automatically saved to iCloud, but has no name. Pages save it automatically and call it "empty".
If you create a new document again and save it, it is called "empty 1" and such will be in the next emty 2 ... etc.
I can not rename the document and name it and call it what I want.

The most recent version of Pages that you can run on the iPad 1, running iOS 5.1.1, is not compaible with the newest version of pages on the Mac.
If you had the old version of Pages on your Mac, and off hand I can't remember what version it was, you should still be able to use that version and then it will be compatible with the Pages app on the iPad. I updated to the newest version of Pages some time back but was able to keep the older version as well.

Automatically open document with Pages 5

When I upgraded from Pages 4.3 to 5x, documents were automatically set by the installation to all open with version 5.0.x . Due to some initial problems with Pages 5, I changed the setting so that Pages 4.3 opened all documents. I did that by command-i, get info, open with Pages 4.3, and change all.
Now I want to default back to opening with pages 5.0.1, but if I do the same procedure (command-i, get info, open with Pages 5, and change all), Pages is still opening documents with version 4.3.

All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
That makes it impossible to get the System to stick with a choice in Finder.
Trash/archive whichever one you don't want.

Can't open document in pages.

I can't open one of my documents in pages on my iPad. I've reinstalled pages, rebooted the iPad and simply turned it off and on but nothing is solves my problem. Any ideas? Really need this document!

If you use iCloud, download the document from iCloud.com and try to open the document on your computer. If you can open it, save it under a different name and send it back to iCloud by dragging the document into the browser window. Launch. Pages on the iPad and see if the renamed document will open OK. If it does, delete the old document.
