Cant open hotmail e-mail on my new imac

I just bought a imac, and i cant seem to figure out why I cant open e-mails in my hotmail account?

I had the same problem and here is how I fixed it.
I had traveled out of town (away from my ISP) and just now found out that when I travel away from my ISP I need to do the following:
Go to mail preferences, click on accounts, go to outgoing mail service and click on that and edit the smtp server and click on the advanced tab.  Click on use custom port and put in 587.  Under authentication click on password. Now this should work the mail sending when you are away from your area (mine is roadrunner).
Now, if you are home, you should do the above, but in the custom port put 25 and under authentication click on none.
This fixed my problem.  Hope it helps you.

I don't know how this works on a Mac; on Windows you need the Flash Player Projector (not the plugin) to view stand-alone SWF files: https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

    Alas, you can't.
You can open nearly all of them. Pages will open AppleWorks 6 Word Processing documents but not AppleWorks 5 ones.
Word Processing documents can be opened directly only in Pages.
Draw Documents can be opened directly only in EazyDraw (the more expensive version from their website, not the cheaper one from the Mac App Store, and you will need v4.0 'Retro' not the most recent version) or Intaglio (though this appears not to be able to handle very complex drawings). (It's possible to copy Draw documents into a Word Processing document in order to open them in Pages, but you need AppleWorks to do this in the first place.)
Spreadsheets can be opened directly only in Numbers.
Presentations can be opened directly only in Keynote.
Nothing will open AppleWorks databases or Paint documents: the only way to access them is to open them in AppleWorks and export.

  • I updated my soft wear and now cant open my e-mails

I updated my soft wear and now I cannot open my e-mails it keeps saying it can't open in the new version

Mac OS X v10.6: Mail.app won’t open, or "You can't use this version of Mail…" alert after installing Security Update 2012-004:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4424?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Fellow user Grant Bennet-Alder offers this solution:
Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
    The solution has been to:
    1) make certain Mail is in the /Applications folder
    2) There is no other copy anywhere else.
    3) Once steps 1 and 2 have been done, Manually download and re-apply the Security Update (2012-004) by hand.
    Security Update 2012-004 (Snow Leopard)
If the Mail.app has been LOST, it can be re-installed by applying the 10.6.8 version 1.1 combo update. But this update is quite large and it is usually not necessary:

  • Cant open hotmail sign in page

I have a problem where I cant open the web page to sign into my live.com or hotmail account. The page just stays blank and I get the error code I pasted below. From what I can tell, this all started when I downloaded a MLB toolbar last week. I didnt like it so I deleted it from the uninstall menu and it was gone. Except there was a Websearch+ as a search provider that was not there before. I have searched my computer harddrive and there is no file with mozilla or firefox I can find to delete, but it left something behind that is blocking that sign in page. I contacted Microsoft and they said that page is not compatable with Mozilla and to remove it, but I cant cause I dont know where to find it. I have tried to change all default settings back to Windows, but when I close it, it goes back to custom on its own. I have deleted cookies, caches, temp files, trach cans and did a system restore and nothing has changed. If somebody can help me, please let me know what I can do.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • How do i transfer my old Apple Mail to a new iMac

I have a new iMac running OS 10.10.1 and Apple Mail 8.1 and an old Mac Pro running OS 10.7.5 and Apple Mail 5.3.  I have a LOT of unwanted apps and other material on my MacPro which I don't want to transfer so I can't use migration methods that just transfer everything. So, I am generally struggling to transfer applications and files but particularlyy Apple Mail.  I have lots of saved mail in folders (stored, I believe, locally on my Mac) which I DO wish to keep.
    So, the questions are:
         1.  what is the best way to transfer a large and complex Apple Mail set of files?
    and
         2.  Is there a tool to there that enables me to selectively transfer files between Macs?
    Grateful for any suggestions/advice.

Just sync or Back Up the iPhone, you do not need to Update Firmware or Restore Firmware. Just sync or Back Up.
Then sync or restore the Back Uo to the new iPhone. You do not have to Update Firmware or Restore Firmware. Just sync or restore from the Back Up. Do not Restore the Firmware.

  • Best way to move apps, data, mail, etc. to new imac?

I am wondering what the best way is to move stuff from my g4 pb to new imac. Both are osx 10.4.4. I have an external fw drive with a clone of my pb drive on one partition. I don't want to copy everything to the new mac. I have a .mac acct.
    Here are my questions:
Can I move my mail, contacts, ical, and transmit (ftp) settings just by syncing with .mac? All of those are backed up daily to idisk. If i sync to the new mac, will all mail messages be copied?
What about apps? Is it best to just drag them over from the pb or fw drive, or to re-install from disks and/or install/dmg files when possible?
Firefox... I have a bunch of extensions installed and config is highly customized. If I just drag it over to new imac, will config and extensions still work?
Any idea of the easiest way to keep files synced between 2 macs? All files are in my user folder.
I use SuperDuper for backup from pb to fw drive, but I am hoping for a more direct/automatic way for the file sync. Size and number of files are too large for .mac. Has anyone tried SuperDuper on new mac yet?
One more question... user accounts. I have 3. One main (admin), one guest, and one emergency admin. There is nothing to transfer from any acct. besides main. Is it better to transfer the accts over from pb, or to set up identical accts on the new mac?
    Thanks!

Perhaps the easiest way to transfer information from one machine to the other is using Migration Assistant found in your application/utilities menu. Have a look at . You'll need a firewire cable to connect the two machines.
Since you are migrating applications etc. to a new System architecture, I suggest being cautious about what applications you transfer. Some apps. (non-Universal) may not be Rosetta compatible. Have a look at the current compatibility list from Apple for Universal Apps. Also, here's about Rosetta.
Rather than syncing the .Mac account to your new system, it may be safer to simply move this information via MA. Not sure about how the syncing works between the 2 machines going forward. Someone else will have to answer that question.
"I use SuperDuper for backup from pb to fw drive, but I am hoping for a more direct/automatic way for the file sync. Size and number of files are too large for .mac. Has anyone tried SuperDuper on new mac yet?"
Not ready for prime time yet. Have a look at this thread on SuperDuper's forums.
User accounts can be set up on your new machine via System Preferences>Accounts. No sense transfering them if you have no personal information in the User account.
Firefox is not yet Universal, although I understand it's coming soon. I guess the current version runs OK in Rosetta. The transfer of extensions etc. ought to be handled easily via Migration Assistant.
Lastly, make sure your G4 is fully backed up via SuperDuper (bootable clone) before starting Migration Assistant.

  • I want to transfer my pst files in Outlook 11 to mail on a new iMac

Hi:  i have a new iMac with OS X Yosemite arriving tomorrow.  I would like to transfer my Outlook 11 Personal Folders in Outlook Mail on my PC (Windows 7) to be available within the Mail program on the Mac.  As a second choice, I am prepared to install Outlook for Mac if that is a better option.  I am sure that there is a simple answer and/or app to do this and it is my lack of tech savvy that is preventing me from finding it.  All and any advice will be greatly appreciated!

You can convert your pst file using a third party option. This one is reasonably priced.
    PST Converter Pro  $29
    http://www.pstconverterpro.com/pst_converter_buy_for_Mac.html
Even though Outlook 2011 will import .pst files, I would not advise using Outlook  2011. Not only is it old software, you can get the Office 2016 preview for free for testing.  http://products.office.com/en-US/mac/mac-preview
If you have POP accounts or if you want to sync your contacts and calendars to your iPhone, use Apple Mail. Outlook only syncs contacts and calendars for Exchange accounts. Don't assume that Outlook for Mac is anything like the Windows version.
There are no easy options to export data from Outlook for import into Mail.
Another option is to upload your mail via IMAP account for download  into either Mail or Outlook .

  • Empty window in mail.app on new iMac

I have a new iMac, which came with Lion. I am now using system version 10.7.3.
Everything (as far as I can tell) transferred correctly from my previous computer, by way of Time Machine.
Except that Mail does not work at all. I spent a lot of time with Apple tech support, to no avail.
    Here are the symptoms:
Mail does not show ANY messages or mailboxes -- just a grey, completely empty window -- not even empty folders -- not one folder, not one smart folder, not one message -- everything in the View menu is greyed out
I can get all the windows to show up except the main one
if I select "New Viewer Window" in the file menu, Mail crashes and I have to force quit
if I select "Message Viewer" in the Window menu, I get the empty grey window.
The first tech support person said everything would work when it was finish indexing. Of course that was not true.
The second had me delete and reinstall the accounts. Then the program spent a lot of time apparently syncing the IMAP accounts, but still nothing in the window.
The third person disappeared as soon as I told her what the problem was.
And now I just tried to get help from a fourth person, but no one is available... so here I am.
    Any ideas?

I dreaded having to spend any more hours with clueless tech support people. So I spent what ended up being maybe 30 minutes searching this site for ideas. I tried many things which didn't work, but the answer turned out to be to go to Library/Mail, and move the V2 folder out of there. Then I launched Mail, and got an actual window!
Then I clicked on the zigzag icon next to "Inbox", and that triggered the download of all the messages from MobileMe. Then I turned on "Mail Rules, Signatures, and Smart Mailboxes" from System Preferences/MobileMe/Sync, and clicked Sync Now. That got me back my smart mailboxes.
    Whew! Problem solved.

I am not sure why that is relevant but they are:comcast.net, mcn.org, gmail.com, yahoo.com, earthlink.net, and mac.com. The gmail is being accessed as an imap server. Comcast won't do imap. I am not sure about the others.
    Thanks
It's relevant because all Apple mail accounts are Imap, which would have made it easy, but ... all the Imap accounts do not need to be transferred, POP accounts (comcast, earthlink and yahoo, maybe) will need to be exported from wherever they are and reimported.
PST files are Outlook only, if you are using Outlook you could buy emailchemy and let it do this for you.
