Cant open indesign trial

I have just downloaded the 30 day indesign cs3 trial. I have installed it and gone through all the necessary set up process', till now it is an 'adobe cs3' folder sitting on my desktop. when i double click it, it just opens up more folders and then more again. Ive tried doubleclicking on the ones that look like indesign, but they just go back through the whole set up process again. I repeat, I am confident i've installed it already, gone through setup.exe. etc. just now im left with a desktop icon that when opened just opens up to all the constituent folders.

Do you have the applications listed in the start menu?
The trial download is a self-extracting archive, so when you run that it will put the folders someplace, and then you need to run the setup from the root of the extracted folder. After that there should be new folders in the Program files directory, or wherever you decided to install, with the actual program, and icons on the start menu.

  • Cant open Indesign files unless opening through Bridge

    We have just upgraded our PCs to CS5 & cannot open InDesign files unless we open them through Bridge, we have tried open with but this doesnt seem to work. Any suggestions? Illustrator & Photoshop are fine.

    Sounds like an issue where either the folder you opened the last file from conventionally is no longer available or you do not have sufficient permissions to access it. The info on the last used folders/ files is retained by the programs and if something goes astray, that can cause this behavior. In any case, trashing the prefs to get rid of the wrongly stored paths might be enough, so try that. Simply move the files in C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 7.0\en_US out of the way and let the program create new factory defaults.

  • I have a Maverick imac and cant open Indesign CC.

    I migrated CS5 from my imac 10.6.8 which I have now uninstalled. The error message appears everytime I try to open Indesign CC. 'you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folder. Ensure that you have appropriate permissions and then restart Indesign. Other downloaded apps on cloud are working ok.

    Cloudquestion the behavior you are experiencing is likely due to using the migration process to place InDesign CS5 on your new iMac running Mac OS 10.9.  To try to recover from this please try the following steps:
    Run the uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder and uninstall any Adobe Creative software currently installed.

    Reinstall your CS5 applications from your installation media.

    Every time I try to open InDesign CC it crashes unexpectedly.
    I have uninstalled InDesign CS6, unistalled InDesign CC, reinstalled InDesign CC, restarted my Mac, all while trying to launch the application through out each stage.

    Yes, I did...kind of. You have to go your top naviagation bar to "go"
    Hold down the "alt" key until the Library option shows up, then click on Libray.
    From Library go into Caches
    Then look for your adobe InDesign folder, double click to open it.
    If you have any folders that read "Version 9.0, Version 8.0, Version 7.0" delete them.
    If that works, you maybe like me and have to delete them everytime you want to lauch. Not a 100% fix, but at least I can run it with out it crashing.
    Another option I did was delete all fonts that I felt may have been a little fishy from my system so that InDesign didn't load them. Because one of the Adobe reps thought it may have been a corrupt font.
    Needless to say I still use InDesign CS6.

    You can download the CS5.5 trial at http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-5-direct-download-links.html.  Keep in mind though there will likely be compatability issues if your document was created in InDesign CS6.  Your best option, if trying to present the document, would be to convert it to a PDF on the computer which has CS6.

  • Cant open InDesign files from mac on pc

    I am trying to open some InDesign files made on a mac on my pc but it does not work.
    I have the latest version of InDesign on my pc computer. 
    We have tried:
    Open the mac files as they are.
    Resave the mac files as old indesign format and open them on PC
    Export from mac to IDML files and open those files on the pc.
    Open the file on my pc as a "copy"
    Nothing works.
    I get the message:
    Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission, or the file may be in use by another application.
    Having a deadline for this project very very soon so really need to fix this. Any ideas out there?

    I dont know what the orginal mac version is for this. And it will take some time to find out.
    Can i see this somewhere? Could this make a difference?

    Yes it makes a difference. First off, my script checks if it's indeed an InDesign file. If it is, it tells what version the file was created with (and recent versions of the script will also helpfully tell you what that means for you, i.e., whether or not you can open it with your version of inDesign).
    Further check: nothing weird in the file name? Don't assume -- delete the original file name and type in something reasonable. There are lots of weird Mac symbols that may have hitched a ride along.
    If that does not work: either post the file somewhere for us to look at (preferred), or open it with a hex editor and show us the first couple of bytes. This so we can verify what it is.

    after installed the program, it says 'sign in required' and click, even though i am online and my time setting is correct but it says 'connect to internet or set your clock correctly'.
    why??
    therefore i can not open the program.
    is it because it took 1 months to download the trial due to my internet connection problem since the first i tried to download a trial?
    if so, no more trial for me and only way to use this to purchase???

    I don't think I can access the crash report? Excuse the ignorant questions I'm about to make am a relative tech novice.
    Soo - as mentioned every time I open photoshop it crashes - it just says there's an error and the program will shut down and if there's a solution windows will notify me. Then nothing...
    I've tried to look in photoshop files for the detailed crash report & the system event viewer but cannot find a file with those names. I've also looked in the windows files for files with those names but cannot find them either - so I don't know where to look.
    Any guidance would be great.

    Please try the following steps:
    Windows:
    Please go to C:\Users\(your own user)\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE and rename opm.db file.
    MAC:
    /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE and rename opm.db
    Once you do that then it should ask you to sign in using a different e-mail address.

    I am really  sorry to inform you that Muse does not offer  Backward compatibility,  And once your site is saved in the newer version you wont be able to open it in the older version.

    I just downloaded the creative cloud and the trial version of InDesign. Everything seems to have gone fine with the download, however, when I try to open InDesign nothing happens whatsoever.
