Cant open the aim file!

hello, when i download aim from aim.com the file extension is .bin?
how do i install it? do i need a certain program? i really need aim, how
do i make it to .dmg?

I dont know why but recently my premiere project wont open whilst others will. i have a hunch it may be because my project bin in the project has over 1000 clips in it. i have 4gbs of memory on my imac. has anyone else ever had this message whilst it loads up then crashes-

The .bin file is an image file of the router's firmware. It does not need to be "opened" or "unzipped". The .bin file is loaded into the router "as is".

Cant open the system file in Tiger

Perhaps this is a question for the Classic forum. If so then I apoligize for this post. But I am trying to open the Mac OS 9 System file which will contain the "Quack" system beep and trying to convert that to a OSX format. But I get a message stating that the System is in use by OSX and cannot be opened.
I'd appreciate help.
Yes I could do the following, but you guys can save me much time.
1. I could search every single old Zip disk I own for the OS 7 utility called sound to system beep that would grab every sound in a application or the system file to a system 7 sound file. Certainly with this utility I could capture Quack.
2. I could use resedit and find the Quack sound in the system file.

Hi again John,
I should've tested the last hint to make sure it still worked correctly. You can import any one of the sounds located in a snd resource with it but it will not play or save them correctly once imported (you have to click the two buttons at the top of the import dialog to navigate through all the different sounds).
Here's a method that does still work though. Download a calssic app by the name of "SoundApp PPC". Launch "SoundApp" and choose "Convert..." from the "File" menu (or press command + k). Locate and select the classic "System" file you'd like to convert and click "Convert". This will convert all sounds in the snd resource file into aiff files and save them to a folder that you specify.

An .exe application is compiled for Windows. It will not run on a different OS. If you need to run this program, then you will have to install Windows on your Mac. Either as a separate bootable partition, or running in a virtual machine, such as Parallels or VMWare.

Cant open a PDF file in click box

I cant open a PDF file in captivate (using a click box) it
goes out to the net and does a search - any answers?
Also I tried to use a menu builder but I cant add that to a
captivate learning object either - any answers?

I have the PDF file local and select it from the browse
button.
The path is absolute.
The address that IE shows is a MSN search for the PDF file
name - eg the file name is Students with learning difficulties.pdf
it goes to a MSN search and looks for Students with learning
difficulties.pdf web pages.
I test this in preview and does the above mentioned.
Do I need to save the PDF in a different location so
captivate can access it?

Cant open embedded msg-files with Standard

Hi,
my problem is:
I have embedded some msg-files into an pdf now I cant open the links to the msg-files with X Standard but
I can open them with X Pro.
The Problem is I need to get them opened with X Standard.
When I try to open them with Standard he tells me something about the security-settings wont allow this.
I already checked the security-settings and I have the option with " open in extern" activated and
I dont got a blacklist.
Is there a possibility to open the msg-files with Standard ?
I would be very happy if you could write me a solution.

Thanks for your reply.
The problem is that I need to use the "fill" in the paint program.
I have actually just been able to get the file to load into Appleworks paint after reading about using the .pict save. All looked good untill I tried to fill. What happens now is that the fill is very chunky and does not bleed thru at all. This makes it pretty useless at the moment.
Same problem, with a twist now.
Looking forward to any further ideas.

i ve two server... test1 and test2
i have shutdown instance and copy all files redo, control , and init from TEST1 TO TEST2 at same location.
now i cant up the database..
i tried to backup controlfile to trace of TEST1 and tried to open database on TEST2
but it i cant open the db

Here is a post that I assembled for a similar question:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta. Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion). While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Workarounds:
1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
2. If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PowerPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
3. Upgrade your software to Intel compatible versions, or find alternative software that will open your data files;
3. Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

I recently upgraded my ios from tiger (10.5.8) to snow leapord (10.6.8), owing to which my iworks9 had to be reinstalled. I had taken a back-up of iworks in my hard disk and once the new ios was installed, I transferred the file back to the mac. When I try to open pages, numbers or keynote I got a message saying that this programme cannot be opened because of a problem, pls contact apple.
Kindly suggest.
Just few minutes back I downloaded a iworks9 trial version since most of my files are in numbers, keynote and pages format and needed to access them urgently! I can access the numbers and pages files, but the keynote files cannot be opened. I still get the 'because of a problem' message.

Imac is no longer able to open the Configuration file

I have an imac ( ilamp) 20' connected to ADSL, via Netopia Router which is connected to the Airport extreme connected to imac, for the PB Aluminum Tiger 10.4.5. we both can connect. PB can print via imac/printer.
The imac is no longer able to open the Configuration file, when i enter the pswd which is correct, i get the message "The Airport Admin. Utility was unable to read the configuration of the selected base station an error occurred while reading the configuration "
My Beau updated Airport to V5.7, this is the first time since the update I've tried to access the conf. file for the imac which i have done numerous times prior.
I have a new base station Ip address 254.128.0 in Airport Utility Admin, on the imac which does not reflect my network settings anywhere, and is not what it use to be, i think, it was one value different than the PB.Base station IP. I do not know how it changed neither one of us changed it.
I tried using the Airport Setup assistant (imac), I received this message:
"Appropriate Airport hardware was bot found on this computer,if you recently
Installed, an Airport card,please shut down your computer$ make sure the card is properly istalled."
The imac does not have a card, nor do i think it needs one.
I would like to be able to at least open the configuration file.

I made an error on my first post I have a Netopia modem, Airport router.
And so it remains, i guess that there must be an easy answer somewhere
that I am missing that I/we should read, some direction to that would be helpful, and I would be very appreciative.
As I said the password had been set, and it is not an issue of that being forgotten, i wondered if it was changed back to "public" tried, not it.
particular because everytime the imac wakes one of the folders on ( no one else in office just me and boyfriend and it is his work folder he has a copy on the PB.( the folder on desk top has been clicked on, the one with sensitve info, i have backed the folder up and secure trashed it, just in case some security issue hacking has taken place, thats closing the barn door after the fact.
