I can't pair the remote with my Macbook (which was purchased 3 days ago) and its driving me CRAZY!
    HELP

My guess is that unfortunately he wasn't aware that the IR receiver had been eliminated. Either that or he assumed that you knew and you were purchasing it for a different Mac. Regardless, they should take it back for a refund. If they won't refund it in full since it's open, you may want to speak to a manager to explain the misunderstanding. Stay calm and don't get too hot about the issue or they may refuse the refund.

search in the list if the phone you have is compatible, then install the little program and you may even have a remote MOUSE by just clicking it on your phone
PS. even if it yoru phone is not in the list there is a big chance that it will work, (mine wasnt in the list and it works like a charm) it is based on java if I understand corectly and most of the phones understand that programing language.

  • Unable to pair remote with iMac

I have checked various times if Home Sharing is enabled both on my mobile device and computer, logged in and out of my account, my itunes account on both my iMac and mobile device (iPod Touch 5th gen) are synced.
I checked the firewall too, everything is set up correctly and was working a few hours earlier but now I'm not able to access my library from the Remote app and iTunes will not show the 4 digit input screen to pair my device as a remote, I'm having the same issues with the RemoteMouse app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/remote-mouse/id403195710?mt=12
I've checked my wifi connection and tried the QR alternative on the RemoteMouse app without success, the RemoteMouse screen shows a "connection failed" message after scanning the code. any suggestions? did I miss anything? I am running the latest version of iTunes 12.1.0 and iOS 8.1.3 on my iPod Touch.

What does this have to do with iTunes for Windows, the forum to which it was posted?

  • Pairing Iphone 3G with Imac?

How would you go about pairing an Iphone 3G to a Imac ? Also what is (PAN)? In what way would a Iphone be able to interact with the Mac ?

I was messing around with this, curious as well.
I could get my 3g to pair with my mini but not actually connect to do anything.
The thing I would like to be able to figure out is to use the iphone remote app to control the itunes on my mini and stream back through bluetooth to my iphone!
It seems like it should be possible, among other things but I just cant figure it out....

  • Pairing mobil phone with iMac

I would like to send some photos from my Samsung mobil phone to my new iMac using Bluetooth. I can get the devices to pair with no problem but the "Connected" button goes red (not connected) and I can't find a way to change it to green. When I go to the photo screen in the phone and try to send a photo the phone does not recognize the computer at all. I've connected the computer to the phone and then the phone to the computer. Bluetooth sharing in preferences is on. No help. Any ideas?

The connected light only goes green when there is some actual Bluetooth activity going on between the two devices. When they are just paired it will be red. It will turn to green automatically when the phone and computer are actually communicating.
I don't know about your Samsung specifically, but usually when you send a photo by Bluetooth the phone will search for Bluetooth devices and give you a list of ones it finds, then you choose the one you want to send to.
Also, another possibility is to try browsing the device from the Mac via the Bluetooth menu, and pull the photos across that way.

  • Cant pair divice with macbook air

cant pair my iphone with my macbook air via bluetooth

I understand Apple does not monitor these forums. That is why, as I said, I already registered my complaint directly with Apple.
Why do I "expect it to change"? I don't expect; nor do I not expect. I'm neutral regarding expectations. I hope, however, as do many. And it's not an unreasonable request: given Apple's slogan "It just works", and their highly touted connectivity among all their devices, this seems a ridiculous exception that is a real inconvenience. Especially since, as I indicated above, USB connection doesn't help either.
Thank you for your suggested workarounds. However, they won't help me. To clarify: I need to print a hard copy of this PDF in the next two hours. I cannot print directly from my iphone. I could print from my computer, but obviously I need to get the document to my computer first. Wifi is temporarily unavailable where I am. There is no cable connection either. Therefore my computer is cut off from the internet, so I cannot check email from it. The only way to get the PDF onto my computer is to transfer it from my iphone. Since Apple does not support Bluetooth connection (which is ridiculous, as noted above), the only other way is via USB cable. But Apple does not support this either (which is even more ridiculous). So there is no way for me to get this PDF to my computer to print it out.
Apple should support both bluetooth and USB compatibility for file transfer between their devices. Judging by the number of discussions on this, it's neither an unusual nor unreasonable request.
I did find one workaround; one way I can get the PDF to the computer: from the iphone, open the PDF in ibooks; then sync with the computer via USB. This will import the file to ibooks on the computer. However, there is a problem: if I open the PDF in ibooks, it is automatically saved to icloud. This may not seem like a problem, but it is: some files — such as this one — are confidential; one may not want it in the cloud. In the case of this PDF, I could get in big trouble for allowing a copy to be in the cloud.
In general, I've noticed a trend (not just with Apple): as they add ways to use the cloud (which is good), they remove ways of doing the same tasks via older methods, e.g. via USB cable. In essence, one is forced to use the cloud. I've spoken with several Apple representatives about this, and it's almost as if they cannot comprehend why anyone would NOT want to use the cloud. They say "but now you don't have to use a cable; the cloud is much more convenient. And it saves a backup for you!" Of course the cloud is convenient, but for any number of reasons I might not want to use it. They should not force one to — they should not remove other simple options that were working just fine.

  • Can't pair Apple Remote and MacBook Pro + Answer

I had an issue pairing my Apple Remote with my MacBook Pro.
The Apple manual says (on page 36):
To pair your Apple Remote with your MacBook Pro:
1 Position the Apple Remote 3 to 4 inches from the IR receiver on your MacBook Pro.
2 Press and hold the Menu and Next/Fast-forward buttons on the Apple Remote for 5 seconds.
After trying and failing several times to pair my remote using these instructions I gave up. While it could be a bit annoying not to have the remote paired it was not a significant enough issue to prompt me to send the notebook in for repair.
After a few days I decided that there must be a software conflict causing this problem since the remote works fine otherwise.
I scoured the net for a solution and found nothing. It seemed I was the only one with this problem.
Based on the premise that you should push all of the buttons and see what happens I tried several other button combinations on the remote. To my surprise holding the Menu + Play/Pause buttons together for five seconds paired the remote with my MacBook Pro.
I have unpaired and then re-paired the remote several times with this alternate button combination and it works every time.

My MacBook Pro didn't seem to work with the Apple Remote either, but it turned out that I needed to logout and back in before the system preferences recognised the pairing. This might be something to try if there doesn't seem to be any response from the computer .

  • Workaround for remote with Apple TV + Mac Mini media server?

We have to keep unplugging and then replugging our Apple TV 2 any time we want to use our Mac Mini media server instead of the Apple TV on our home entertainment system. Alas, the lack of a power button.
The reason we have to do this is because the remote control signals are identical for the two units; we're using Plex TV on the Mac Mini, and when we use our universal remote, if the Apple TV is on, then unintended things happen in the background on the Apple TV any time we control the Plex media server. Ack. We could end up buying a video that we don't want.
What workarounds are there, to avoid plugging and unplugging the Apple TV, if we want to keep using a remote control with both the Apple TV and with the Mac Mini media server? I understand that plugging and unplugging it is not desireable.
On the other hand, we do shut off power completely to our entire entertainment system, via the power conditioner, when we're not using it, to conserve. I suppose that's equivalent to plugging and unplugging the Apple TV?
    Your thoughts?

I know its been 17 months since anyone replied to your post, but I stumbled upon your request, because I had the same issue. However, I can faithfully say that I solved this same problem, because I inadvertendly programmed my MX-980 remote to control my Apple TV and Mac Mini at the same time and didn't realize until much later what was happening. I use my Mac Mini (for the purpose of using PLEX) and my Apple TV for other purposes. Here's a discussion I had over at remotecontrol.com about it.
The solution for you is have two Apple remotes. You can buy an extra apple remote at a good price over at Amazon.
Out of box, the apple remote is designed to pair with your Mac and Apple TV as long as pairing is enabled on those machines by default. However, it's the consumer's responsibility to physically pair that remote with the machine you want to control so it can't control any other machine. That's the trick you were missing...
So, if you have an Apple TV and Mac Mini next to each other -- a single Apple Remote will control BOTH machines at the same time out of box. This is not the intended result as you have indicated. Therefore you need two apple remotes.
Mac Mini: Once you have two apple remotes, go to your Mac Mini (OSX 10.9) and select under the Apple menu > Preferences > Security > General > Click unlock (bottom left corner) first > sign in > Then click Advanced... to see the Pairing process. If you click advanced *before* you click unlock icon, the pairing menu will be missing.
Note: You can also install free CandleAir preference for your Mac which is a slick interface for configuring apple remotes faster and easier IMHO. http://www.iospirit.com/labs/candelair/
Apple TV: Now take your second Apple Remote, go to Apple TV > Preferences > General > Remote and follow the on screen instructions to properly pair your remote control.
    This should solve your problem.

  • How do I re-pair the white Remote with iTunes and/or AppleTV 1

how do I re-pair the white Remote with iTunes and/or AppleTV 1...?
    iMac 8,1 - OSX10.6.8

Note that our test system may show more or different columns than yours, but what you see in this screenshot is our iTunes 11 music library in "Songs" view, sorted by artist. The major difference from prior versions of iTunes is the lack of the sidebar that gave you quick access to all of your content.
Don't worry, it's still available! We just have to turn it on. To do so, go to the View menu and choose "Show Sidebar," as shown in the image below:

I saw this on their web site... Hope it helps.

The Mac Pro does not have a built-in IR receiver. You can however buy a USB IR receiver and use that in conjunction with your Apple Remote.

Im havingtrouble pairing a new apple remote with apple.tv. Any suggestions? Have followed directions so far.

A classic chicken/egg problem. I see this in the Apple TV manual:
You can also hold down Menu and Right for 6 seconds to pair Apple TV and the Apple Remote.
When you successfully pair your Apple Remote, Apple TV displays a chainlink symbol (          ) above a picture of a remote. Apple TV now works only with the paired remote.
You might have to change your screen name (kidding).
