Cant perform hard reset... Infinite loop

My new MBP recently froze while working in system preferences. Force quit command also froze. Now I am unable to perform a hard reset by holding down the power button and the wheel keeps on spinning. Battery inacessible. Appears to be some kind of infinite loop and I'm really worried.

If it's new, you should probably work this through with AppleCare.
Until then, if it won't shut down by holding down the power button, I don't know what else you can do except disconnect the power adapter and wait for the batt to run down.
If it was out of warranty, I'd suggest removing the batt, but that may well cause warranty issues, so I recommend not doing it.

We are a user support forum not Sony employed - If you want to update then do so via any means you see fit then if you want to make sure it's a clean fresh install then try performing a system repair using PC Companion - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

AppleID Reset Infinite Loop

So here's the deal.   I have an AppleID that is my corporate email address because it's a enterprise account for our SDK, AppleCare warranties an all.   It's not an iTunes account.    I haven't had to use it in a long while, and so of course forgot the password.   I'm using my personal iTunes account to post this question btw.
So I try to follow the AppleID password reset process. I of course remember my birthday but cannot recall my favorite song when I first created this AppleID in 1999. So I try the email reset path.
It doesn't work so I burn a lunch hour on the phone.   When I called Apple support I was able to verify accurately everything in the AppleID account over the phone except, of course, the password and favorite song. But enough that the agent felt it was me and wanted to let me know that my email address has a typo, instead of .com it is entered as .con which is why email reset cannot work.   He said you cannot delete an AppleID.   And that the only option was guess the answer to the favorite song question to get the reset going.
So, email notification for password reset is a no go.   No clue why Apple would not just use the AppleID itself to email me the reset since it is my correct email.
And, so far, attempts at guessing the favorite song for the alternate reset path have been a no go for two weeks (8 hour breaks between each fail).
I need to get this ID back because it's for my company.   The ID is my only external public corporate email address.   Just asking if anyone from Apple support out there knows any alternatives out of this short of a few more weeks of trying to guess my favorite song entry from 11 years ago?    I'm somewhat surprised that support cannot correct a validated users extremely obvious email typo from .con to .com to avoid weeks of guess the answer.

Laptop won't power up after hard reset.

My laptop was having issues with keys(mixed keys) so I performed hard reset by removing the battery and the power connection then pressing the power button for 30 secs. But now my laptop won't power up.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

C7 Hard Reset Problems

Hi,
I had updated the software on my C& device a few days back & after restart, the phone was not booting at all after the nokia LOGO. I did performed hard reset by pressing VOLUME DOWN+CAMERA+MENU+POWER KEY and the phone returned back to life.
However there have been new problems, each time the phone gets switched off, it develops the same snag & doesn't boots up & I have to Hard Reset again. Pl suggest a permanent solution for same or are there any other programs that need to be run on the device.

Is there any way to restore or save hard resetted files?

I have iPad Air, and last Saturday because I had to space to download and install the update I performed hard reset to update it to the 8.1.2 version of iOS without (i had thought iCloud has taken my Garageband Files) performing any backups. Is there any way to bring back deleted files? They are so important for me, my all musical work for one year has gone now! Especially the wedding song that I composed for my fiancee.

If you had iCloud backup turned On your iPad should have been taking automatic backups (See Settings > iCloud > Backup). If this is the case you may be able to restore your iPad to that backup. Make sure that you don't allow your iPad to take any more backups now.

HotSync Loop Even After Hard Reset

My Treo755p decidedly to randomly go into a HotSync loop (even though I never set-up the HotSync to my laptop). I did a hard-restart, lost all the data, and restarted and it still does the HotSync Loop....Am I just screwed...Of course, I just landed in The Virgin Islands and don't have any of the HotSync software or connector...This is my fourth treo..why do i even bother anymore? Any suggestions?

Try a warm reset and if that doesn't work perform another hard reset. When performing a hard reset be sure to say "Yes" to erase all data. For further information and instructions on resets please visit kb.palm.com and look up article number 887 in the solution I.D search field.

All-In-One C4780 screen is stuck on a loop. How can I hard reset the printer?

I have a C4780 and am running Windows 7. I have had the printer for 2 years and never had a problem until recently. I have been unable to print for months because the touch screen on the printer is stuck in a loop. I first noticed the problem because I could hear random beeping and printer movement from the other room. It was doing it all on it's own. There were no changes to the computers, wireless or anything. I had just used it 2 weeks prior to print a passport photo and it worked fine.
It thinks I am trying to print from a memory card and asks me to insert the card. Then it thinks I am trying to print a passport photo. Then it thinks I am scanning and asks me to place the photo face down. (etc, etc) If I try to hit cancel on any of the screens, it moves on to a different task it thinks I want done. If I try to follow through with the task it wants to do, it cancels it on it's own and moves on to another task. It will also move through the screens and tasks without me around. It moves so quickly through the screens that when I do try to get to a certain screen, I sometimes can't, because the printer has taken off in a different direction of screens all on its own.
All software is up to date.
I have tried turning it off, unplugging it, waiting, plugging it back in, turning it on.
I have tried unplugging it while it is on, waiting, plugging it in and turning it on.
I tried a semi-full reset by pressing bottom left 4 times. It was actually really difficult because the printer kept changing screens randomly while I was doing it. I finally got it to do the reset. It got to the "now printing alignment page..." screen and then just moved on to the main screen. Never printed the page. Shortly after that it started doing the screen loop with wireless settings. And now it is back to doing a loop through all the screens again.
It seems to be pushing buttons on its own.
Does anyone have any idea of how I can fix this? Is there a way to do a hard-reset on this printer? Restore it to factory settings? Or doing you think there is something physically wrong with the touch screen where it is actually pressing buttons on it's own?

I'm having the same problem, including paper running through the printer randomly. I believe I completed a semi-full reset that (so far) has stopped the paper going through the printer. And, the random changes on the touch screen seem to have stopped too. But, the touch screen still lights up and goes dark randomly, whcih leads me to believe that all is still not well.
I too would like to try and hard reset if one is possible on this machine.

Going to Apple is pointless. They will not do anything to help. Activation lock is an anti-theft feature.
If the seller "forgot" the pasword for her Apple ID, then she needs to re-set it so that it can be used to unlock the phone. If she says she can't for some reason, demand your money back. If she refuses, I stand by the statement that the phone is most likely stolen.
The phone is completely useless without the Apple ID and password.

Notebook caught in infinite loop, then gives a Hard Drive Short DST check error in Bios

My laptop shut off unexpectedly last week. It got caught in an infinite loop when trying to restart. I was able to access bios and run a system check. I received Failure ID Q0821A-7017lt-xd7wwk-60xx03. I cannot get the computer to start. Please advise.

1. This is a hardware issue and the Hard Drive is faulty
2. You cannot recover this failure ID unless you replace the Hard drive
Detailed Explanation:
Whenever you get a message stating that the Short DST Check error with 24 Digit Failure ID "Q0821A-7017LT-XD7WWK-60XX03" that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive requires a replacement to resolve the issue
Could be due to Application or driver conflicts, virus issues, file corruptions due to incompatible applications, improper shutdowns, update failures due to conflicts, sudden power surges, if notebook is dropped etc..
HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the Notebook warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby
Please make sure you are getting at least equal capacity as the original one in order to use Recovery Disks. If you need you can buy a larger, but not smaller capacity Hard Disk Drive. For example if you have a 500GB Hard Disk Drive you can upgrade it to 750GB Hard Disk Drive but not 320GB Hard Disk Drive
Please try the below shown troubleshooting steps once:
Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the AC/Power Adapter
Step 02. Press and hold the Power button for more than 30 Seconds
Step 03. Plug in the AC/Power Adapter (leave the Battery out for now)
Step 04. Press the Power button and check if the Unit works normal
If the above mentioned steps does not help, then you can try reseating the Hard Drive on your Notebook
If the issue persists again please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media)
Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files.

N8 Cant remove Topapps even after hard reset

Few hours ago I just bought a new N8. It has in it TopApps and Ovi store, I wanted to remove Topapps but it continue to deny the operation. I tried soft reset, hard reset and in the ned 4 buttons reset. I tried also few solutions offered here in nokia forum but still without any sucess. I cant remove TopApps or Ovi Store even after hard reset, the maps are also here - I thought that these apps will disappear after hard reset.
In applications I got 3 ovi store related apps installed - ovi, Ovi notifications support package and Ovi Store. Social network app is not working too, its showing me service unavailable. Any ideas ?

Nokia Store or rather Ovi Store is not deletable or uninstalabe as this is one of the applications that is necessary to enable you to download and update downloaded applications to your Nokia N8-00 Belle. If you try to delete or unistall you get the message operation denied so its better if you leave it.
Concerning hard resetting, any time you feel like hard resetting your device use *#7370# followed by 12345 as the default security code unless you have manually changed it but always remember that it will delete all user data from both drive C and E hence a backup of your data with the phone settings unticked or not selected is strongly recomended before hard resetting and also note and remember that after hard resetting always reinstall your firmware to avoid having an unstable device.

Thanks deggie, I think I get it now. Volatile memory (I had to look it up!) is memory that is lost on loss of power, so it's as you say... I'm not achieving anything on a normally functioning iPhone as on-off achieves the same result!... Thanks

Looping after a hard reset

I have a treo 680. It started looping yesterday. I did a soft reset which stopped the looping but I still couldn't make or receive calls on my phone. Couldn't connect to internet either. I then did a backup and a hard reset. It started looping again, alternating between the palm logo with the progress bar, the orange palm logo, the palm OS powered by access and a screen with a bullseye. It all switches too fast for me to actually touch my stylus to the bullseye and it has been doing that all night. What's wrong with my phone ?

Have you installed any 3rd party applications on the Treo before it started looping?
Did you get the "erase all data" message when you did the hard reset?
Try a warm reset to see if you can bypass the looping. Click on the following link for all the reset procedures for Palm devices.

You may want to see if there is any debris under the frame of the Treo on the touchscreen. Take a business card or folded piece of paper, insert between the screen and the case. Move the card around the perimeter of the screen and see if there is any debris that comes out.
If you can try the ard reset and it stops the looping, do not sync the Treo without first renaming the backup folder in your username folder.
Here is the procedure to rename the backup folder.
Before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
folder to backup.old
Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.
