Cant play tv shows on ipad after downloading just get a black screen
My first generation ipad will not play tv shows that I have purchased from Itunes. Once they are downloaded on to the ipad I just get a black screen when I try to play them. If I restore the ipad I can SOMETIMES watch them for a short while before it reverts back to a black screen. So Frustrating!!

I am getting the EXACT same problem. I started to watch an iTunes purchased TV Show episode back on February of 2014. I stopped after about 15 minutes to come back and watch it later.
Yesterday, I tried to continue the tv show, and NOTHING. All I get is a black screen with no audio. The time bar is advancing, so iTunes thinks it is playing. BUT NOTHING.
Can anyone assist with this problem?
PS: I use my iTunes on my PC only, and have for years without this problem.
PC is fully HDCP compliant.

Films that I have downloaded from iTunes won't play. I just get a black screen. My computer crashed last week and I had to do a Total Recovery - Films played perfectly before this. I must have deleted a program or link.............. anyone know what could be missing? I can play YouTube videos etc. but nothing in the iTunes store - films or trailers won't work.
The movie is from iTunes. You would think that a download from iTunes to a MacBook could be watched on an HDTV using Apple TV without any headaches bit this does not appear to be the case.

Why do I have download issues all of a sudden: black scrren, no video,audio, visual, just a black screen. It's happened 3 times in the past two weeks! After two downloads, it was still an issue. At least iTunes gave me a refund, but this is frustrating because I like to download and watch films and tv shows! Thanks for any helpful feedback. iTunes reps don't tell me why there is a problem. They just issue a refund and send me on my way!

It is easy enough to try. Drag the MacKeeper.app to the trash. It should pop-up a message asking if you really want to delete. You do. Keeping Flash up-to-date is always a good idea. Download it only from Adobe. The best add-on for Flash is the ClickToFlash Safari Extension that keeps flash turned off until you run it.

I have purchased tv shows and waited for what seemed like hours for download but cannot seem to find out how to watch them. I keep being prompted to download again and again??
If you keep being prompted to download again and again, this sounds like the shows were not downloaded.
Movies and TV Shows (after being downloaded) are available in the Videos app. -

Try opening the file with another player - I suggest VLC for it's versatility. You can download it for free. The file path is ~/iTunes/iTunes Media/TV Shows

De-authorize and then re-authorized computer for iTunes.
I'm getting what looks like the QuickTime interface. The counter runs but there is no sound, no picture.

I just get a black screen when i try to play movies on netflix.

Cant play tv show I purchased a year ago
I purchased 3 different TV shows about a year ago from itunes. Went to watch on of them today and none of the episodes will play. Just get a black screen. itunes is updated to 10.5.2 and I am running 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro. The shows worked fine at one point.

hi ive downloaded 3 films. all completed and now viewable under Movies. When i press play i just get a black screen. teh ticker at the bottom continues as though it is playing, but nothing. if i click the Chapters tab at the top i can see all the chapter pictures but still cannot watch any of the films. help
Sound like you are playing with a beta version of iTunes in which case this conversation should be taking place in the developer forums...

When I hit video app on my ipad I get a black screen
I've purchased some children's 'TV series' cartoons for my iPad 2 which were fine to begin with, but now I just get a black screen when I press the 'video' app and cannot play anything. The videos will play if I go into them through the Itunes Store App, hit 'purchased', TV Series and then the play button, but not otherwise. The videos I've made in picture gallery play fine, it's just that I can't access anything through the App.
Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

Thanks for your help.That is disgraceful. I would have thought that if it is password protected then you should be able to access your own files, if they are still recoverable in any way that you wish. The cost of professional data recovery is prohibitive and although I have had near disasters in the past, all due to external drives, I have always been able to recover deleted files, even from discs that had had a quick erase.
