Cant print PDFs to network drive

Im running windows 7 with acrobat pro x.
When i print pdf to the local drive it works perfectly but when i try print to a network drive it does nothing. When i go to control panel and printter and double click on adobe pdf it shows that it tried but then it just says error printing and doesnt really give me anymore information. The user full permision to the drives even logging in as administrator didnt help.
has anyone come across this before? or have any ideas.
thanks in advance
Timo

Michael is in a lot better position to help. However, such actions used to be quite common, but seemed to be dependent on either the type of network being used or on the setup. There seems to be something related to the temp folder issue that gets in the way. Being that is as much as I know about the problem, I will pass it back to Michael who should be able to do a lot better at helping.

  • Cant print pdf , whats up worked fine before ????

    ok whats the deal,,, I cant print pdf anymore since I got this new update !!!!!!! windows vista , acro  (acting up ) bat... Most all of my printing is PDF . can I just dump this 9.0 thing an go back to  8.0 ,,,,,,Thanks

    Whoa! Sounds like you might have gotten hit by a virus. I have not heard of a message that you need to download AA9, particularly since AA9 has a hefty price with such a download. Was the download actually from Adobe or some unknown site? If the latter, I would suspect the worst (OK, I get paranoid at times). If it was AR9 (the reader), then it might be a more reasonable request, but the download should still be done from Adobe.com. AR9 can run with AA8 also, but there are hickups that occur that leads to Adobe's recommendation to not do a dual installation. That goes for AA8 and AA9 also. Typically AA8 is uninstalled with the AA9 installation.
    Because of my paranoid view, I would suggest running a serious virus scan before doing anything else. I would not transfer anything to another machine or use a memory stick until you are sure things are clean. I virus would surely potentially cause such problems.
    Feel free to ignore my ranting, but I am concerned about what happened as the download was done and such. Unless you are real sure about the "AA9", I would finish a virus scan, uninstall the AA9, and go back to AA8. You will need to be sure you uninstall, delete the Acrobat folders, use the MS Cleanup utility (mentioned several times in the forum), and reboot before the reinstall. If you are sure you had a clean AA9 download from Adobe and not some other place, then you might try it again. I would be tempted to go back to AA8.

  • Cannot print file to network drive.

    Hello...I've searched the forum and have not seen this specific question.  My company recently upgraded to Windows 7 and we use Acrobat X.  When we print from something such as Outlook, Word, notepad, etc., then select Adobe PDF as the printer...then select the location to print to as a network drive, it always fails.  The printer icon has a yellow sign with an exclamation point, and when you open the printer properties, it just says "Error printing".  If you select a local drive, such as C:\temp, it works fine.  It's not a permission issue, because I have full admin rights, and it still fails.  We have multiple users trying to do this, and it's the same for everyone.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This part is not working when you choose a location other than a local disk.
    opening document to print > selecting adobe pdf printer > saving file to network drive > print
    The job sits in the print queue, stating an error and I not been able to determine what the error is.
    What I did just find out that worked is using the Acrobat Office addin "Create PDF".  I am running office 2007.

  • Cannot combine few PDF on network drive

    Adobe Acrobat version 9 & X (Standard & Professional.)
    Cannot combine few PDF files on network drive.
    How to fix it ????

    Does it work if the files are on your local drive?
    If so, why don't you just copy them to your local drive before making the PDF?

  • Print pdf from shared drive

    Hello Experts,
    I have a requirement to print PDF document from SAP without user interaction.
    Here PDF document will be in another server say, shared drive. In simple way, if i execute the program (shared drive path of the document will be hardcoded in program) PDF document(which will be on shared drive) will get printed on local default printer.
    Please help me if anybody worked on similar requirement.
    Thank you very much

    In SAP Business by Designer, there is a reuse component called "Output management", which can enable end users to preview and print PDF document in a very convenient way. The printing is implemented in method:
    PDF binary data and printer code can be stored in ls_print_data.
    CALL METHOD cl_output_service=>document_output(
                    it_attachment_ids = lt_att_ids
                    is_archive_folder = ls_archive_folder
                    is_application_id = ls_application_id
                    ip_in_update_task = abap_false
                    ip_application_queue_id = lv_output_queue_id
                    ip_output_immediately = lv_output_imm
                    ip_output_at = lv_output_plan_time
                    ip_subject = lv_email_subject
                    is_recipients = ls_recipients
                    is_docdata = ls_docdata

  • Unable to convert files to pdf in network drives

    Hi Team
    Iam using adobe acrobat pro 11 in windows7 64 bit OS.When ever iam trying to convert files from text or word to .pdf iam getting the errro message in devices and printers.
    one thing i observed that when i choose local drive eg:c:drive iam there is no problem.but when i given network drives path then its getting error.i have full permissions on network drive and also i can able to save any files,able create files, folders in network drives, So there is no permission issues.
    Could you please provide the solution to fix it.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Siva

    I don't know the solution, but at one point folks were discussing the issue of the TMP folder used for the PDF creation. It may be that there is something causing a problem with the mix of the TMP folder and the network folder. Be aware, I have no clue what I am talking about, but am repeating things I remember reading at one point. That might help you in your trouble shooting. There are others here that understand networks and will hopefully drop by to help.

  • Cant Print PDF

    Hi
    I have a customer who has a windows 7 machine with the latest version of adobe reader
    She can print to the printers using other applications such as word/pain/test printing.
    Everyone in the office using the same printer can print pdf documents fine and they are using the same PC's with the only difference being the user profile.
    I have tried uninstalling and re-installing software and printer drivers
    cleared temp files etc
    I have also trawled the internet looking at various forums about ticking boxes to print as an image and to also change language settings.
    pulling my hair out with this one
    any ideas?

    Pat was trying to illicit more information from you. Are there any error messages? Does the printer seem to respond (lights flash or make noise) but nothing is printed? Can your customer use the temporary workaround of printing as image?
    Can the customer print if they move back to the previous version of Reader? Occasionally people report having issues with Reader and/or Acrobat with roaming profiles. I do not recall anyone reporting a fix.

  • All of a sudden I cant print PDF's with the C4180

    The print starts to pull the paper in and then quits, never printing the PDF file. The printer works fine for everyjthing else.

    Thank you for the reply. As far as OCR is concerned, I'm not sure. I was able to print PDF up until a week or so ago, but then at first it started asking for an output file name and it would go to my documents. Even then, I couldn't print the PDF. Then a couple days ago it no longer asks for a file name, the paper gets pulled into the printer then stops. I can print everything as always.

  • Acrobat 8.1.2 cant print pdf no error

    My husband has an emachine desktop with HP Deskjet D4160, 512 RAM and Adobe reader 8.1.2 ... I have a Sony Vio desktop, 1.5 gig RAM, a second printer same model, and the Adobe reader 8.1.2. The 2 computers are not networked. Both of us are using windows XP operating system. We both have the same problem since we installed Adobe Reader 8.1.2, we are unable to print any pdf file. We do not get any error messages.
    After we select print, you can hear the printer click a couple times as though it was getting ready to print, then nothing. There is no printer icon in the tool bar showing that the printer has anything pending. If you open up the printer it also shows Printer is ready with no pending documents. Again, it does not show any errors or warnings.
    I have searched the forum and knowledgebase, found some suggestions where people had an error message to report. I tried what was suggested there including changing going into "Comments and Forms" ... Document and Markup, then changing that to just Document. Didn't change anything.
    This is getting pretty frustrating have both computers with the same problem and have PDF documents that need to be printed. I sure would appreciate some ideas on how to correct the problem. OH .. I also checked for updates from Adobe and we are current, both computers have Service Pack 2 and are current with updates. Windows XP is also updated several times a week with any current patches or updates.

    You may need to check the Reader forum. I have no idea why the problem exists, but it may be that it is something particular to Reader and not Acrobat. The link for the Reader forum is at the top of this forum.

  • Windows 7 won't print pdf to network printer connected to Mac

    Hi,
    I have a printer connected to my Mac and have shared the printer on my home network.  I can print documents from a Windows 7 computer on my network but when I try to print a pdf from adobe reader it will not print, or ever go to the print queue.
    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks Michael, have tried that, no luck. I will wait a couple of days to see if any other solutions come up (or if anyone else is suddenly having the same issue) before reinstalling Acrobat.
    [OK just tried sending a PDF attachment directly from another program (MYOB) through to Mac Mail and had the same problem so it is not an Acrobat issue afterall, it is a Mac Mail or Mac OS X issue. Will post this on the Apple site.]
    I have resolved the MYOB issue, it was working just painfully slow. So I still have the original Acrobat Pro PDF to Mac Mail issue if anyone knows of any solutions please?

  • Saving pdf on network drive from OSX results in damaged pdf

    Hi,
    I've noticed something weird.
    My gf needs pdf's with forms, so the default preview app that comes with OSX does not suffice.
    So I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader for OSX and she was happy to change the pdf's.
    However later I found out that all the files were corrupted. The thing is like this.
    The files are on a NAS device (normally copied form a linux boxed by rsync (thus via ssh).
    The linux box had issues so she manipulated the pdf's directly on the NAS from an osx machine (using Adobe Reader).
    The OSX machine displays the NAS drive fine, so you can navigate to the correct folder and open the pdf. But after saving the time stamp is not changed.
    I saw that it created a hidden file of the original pdf of about 10% of the original size. This file cannot be opened or (damaged or corrupted message). I tried to fix / merge it with pdftk but that did not help (I later saw that pdftk is rather old).
    However if I save the file directly on the OSX drive it is fine.
    To rule things out I changed another file type (.xls) with openoffice and saved it directly on the NAS, this went fine.
    Could this be a weird bug in Adobe Reader (as AR corrupts the file on the NAS and openoffice deals with storing a remote file correctly) or might it be something else?

  • Sharp AR-C330      Cant print PDF with Intel chips

    We have no problem to print anything but PDF on the Sharp printer when using a Mac with Intel chips. The same document is printed very well on older Macs that are not Intel.
    Sharp is helpless on this matter.
    Thanks for your input.

    Hi La__La, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    First, as a test, I'd Print to a PDF file on an IntelMac, move the file to a PPC Mac, and try printing it from there... to help narrow down the problem.

  • Cant print PDFs in Win 7

    PDF printing has stopped working on my win 7 x64 PC.
    Using adobe reader XI I can not print any PDFs, also the chrome plugin does not work either.
    Printing does work when using word/excel etc, its just PDFs that will not print.
    The print dialogue box comes up but when the print button is press the box closes and nothing, no jobs in the printer job queue.
    I have tried various suggestions on this forum and else where, including unticking "Enable Protected mode at startup", restarting the print spooler and even uninstalling/reinstalling adobe reader.
    None of these work, and I am getting frustrated with this problem.
    PDF printing was working with another PDF reader, but since installing Adobe Reader it has stopped.
    The last time this happened (and the reason I ditched adobe reader) the only way to fix it was to reinstall Windows.
    I dont what to have to reinstall Windows again, so some help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Chuck,
    Tried that, doesnt work.
    Also I sometimes get asked to select the printer, which i do, but the print bottom does not become clickable, stays greyed out.

  • Creating a PDF from Autocad on a company network drive

    Hi,
    I'm running Windows 7, Adobe X, and Autocad 2012. when I first got my machine I had no problems at all creating PDF's.  Now out of no where i'm not able to create them anywhere but my computers hard drive and wont allow me to print on a network drive.  I'm looking for any suggestions on how this can be fixed.
    PLEASE HELP

    Thanks Bill,
    I asked my IS dept. about this and below is the response I got from them.
    it is just a local area network. during the time SP1 was installed for Office 2010 64 bit, I uninstalled that service pack but it did not correct the problem. the same with 10.1 and 10.2 for Acrobat, those were installed and removed but it never correceted the problem. we do have a firewall but i didn't think that Acrobat would be accessing a port on our network. There is symantec Endpoint Protection v11 installed company wide, so at the time there were probably virus definition updates for the SEP that were installed.
