Cant put music on ipod?

ok so i have about 300 songs on my ipod and alot more room to use up. i bought 3 new songs off itunes and i tryed to drag it from my purcused music to my ipod play list. the circle with a line inside of it showed meaning i cant put it there. so i put it into my library and tryed it again. still doesnt work. what am i doing wrong?

With manual transfer, the list of songs on your iPod are not "shadowed" and this allows you to edit the songs on the iPod without making the same changes to the songs in iTunes. If you want to make changes in iTunes, and have those changes reflected on your iPod, then as I said earlier, you have to do it twice. Once on the iPod, and once in iTunes. For many people, manual transfer is cumbersome.
With automatic transfer the list of songs on your iPod are "shadowed", so you cannot make changes directly on your ipod, you must do it through iTunes. Any changes you make in iTunes will be reflected on your iPod the next time you sync it. Similarly, any ratings you give a song on your iPod will be reflected in iTunes. This does not happen with manual transfer.
If you want everything to be updated on your iPod automatically, then you should select "automatically update all songs and playlist" from the iPod preferences menu.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i go to make a new playlist, it is not indented under the ipod like my old lists used to be"
Auto transfer is the most convenient method, and less messy method in my opinion.
With regard to your iTrip, I'm afraid I can't offer any advice as I don't use one so am not familiar with it.

Right now im living in idaho, and I have my laptop, ive been downloading things on this itunes on my laptop, but everytime i go to put it on my ipod, it says its going to delete everything thats on there and replace it with the new library. Change the update setting for your iPod to manual. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
If at any stage you get the message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. At this stage on a Mac the iPod appears in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual, I would expect that this is the same on a PC.

Cant put songs on ipod

*+i have an ipod mini and cant find the original set up cd that came with it if a cd came with it. our computer has recently been updated and when we got our computer back i lost my ipod file. my mum loaded a a newer version of itunes on our computer and we can work out how to put song on itunes but once they have been loaded on itunes we cant work out how to get the songs onto the ipod. we have tried all the obvious options and they dont seem to be working. are we doing something wrong if anyone has any tips or knows how to get the songs from itunes onto the ipod can you please help?+*

If not...
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
If it is, then when it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences (in iTunes) and go to preferences. Click the iPod tab, and then the Music tab under that. Select Automatically Update all Songs and Playlists and click OK.

Is there a way to put music from ipod into computer?

Ok, my problem is that I have not got any trace of music on my computer and my music is on my ipod Classic. It is an 80GB one. I want to know if you can still put new music on it without deleting what is already on it. Or, if there is a way to get the music off it and into the computer. I cannot do the method suggested in this link though http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329?locale=en_AU so any help would be appreciated.

Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.

Putting music on ipod -- trouble.

heres the situation;
I put music on my ipod before and was all happy and stuff. but now since i got more songs, i want to put those on to my ipod too. the trouble is, when i try to click and drag files to my ipod, it won't transfer (i can't transfer, when my mouse goes over my connected ipod, it turns into a 'can't do' sign..you know, circle with diagonal lign through it.)
the names of songs on ipod are light grey, and there's a lock key symbol on the right of where it displays how much memory is left on ipod
is this an update problem or something? i need some help please

There are many different problems putting music on the iPod, this is one of them. Check there is enough memory on the iPod to put the music on and check the music is the right file for the iPod, otherwise I recommend you check out the Apple support pages or contact Apple.

when i open itunes to put music onto my ipod and it pops up and says unknown failure occured to my ipod error code(-69) so if this has happened to anybody else please reply to this your help is appreciated

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation. I want to put music on my iPod in iTunes, but I can't. Here's what happens: I drag a song to the left side of the screen where it shows my iPod, then let go. It shows "Sync In Progress" on my iPod, and after about 3 seconds, it lets me unlock my iPod. Okay, but I go to my Music app and the music that I tried to put on my iPod just isn't there.
Help?

You can view and listen to your music library from another computer with Home Sharing turned on. To turn on Home Sharing in iTunes, go to File > Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing for both computers. This is for iTunes 11. If you are running an older iTunes, go to Advanced > Turn on Home Sharing.

Shuffle reconized but cant put music

when i plug in the shuffle it reconized it but i couldn't put music in it, i tryed drag and drop, and "autofill" but it doesnt work

March 10 2006 -- I have the latest iPod software and the latest iTunes software -- The iPod is recognized by the software -- But when I click "autofill" absolutely nothing happens! I've tried different USB ports, uninstalled and reinstalled everything, restored the iPod, etc. Nothing works!

You can if the music was puchased with the same AppleID.
Synch the iPod Shuffle with computer B to get it's songs onto that computer. Then resynch the iPhone4 to computer B.

Old computer crashed & have to put music from iPod to new computer.HELP?

Our old Desktop computer crashed, finaly have a new computer, but am unsure hoe to transfer all content (music, games, movies & photos) from iPod classic to new computer.

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
