Cant recover my Pavilion Dv6 6102

I cant recover my notebook from Windows Boot manager.
When i press F11 , enter to recovery manager and getting info: "Error: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might have caused the issue after you install Windows Updates".
Before, im installed windows 8 and during instalation formated disc C ( data files) , did nothink change recovery partition.
How can i back to original system without installation disc (win7) .
And now my answer, so hp support can send me windows 7 home premium on CD/DVD?
Please help me

Installation of Windows 8 might have overritten the master boot record and is unable to allow you to boot through the recovery partition.
First, try installing Recovery manager and see if you can use it to boot through Recovery partition. It can be downloaded from the following weblink:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53402.exe
If the issue persists, the only way is to order Recovery kit and perform recovery using the recovery kit.
You can either order it from HP Technical Support or the following weblink:

  • Recovering my Pavilion DV6 3031tx

    Hello everyone,
I have a Pavilion DV6 3031tx that has recently crapped out on me. I get a Hard Disk Error 1 (303) - I understand that means the drive is dying. I'm going to extract the data from the drive, but I'm not sure where to go from there.
The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I'd prefer to buy a new drive and fix this myself as I'm just not sure I can afford to get it repaired.
Could somebody give me some advice regards what steps I should take to get a new drive and reinstalling windows please?
    much appreciated.
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
It's pretty straight forward to replace the Hard Drive.
The drive on the link below is an example of one that would be a good replacement for your notebook.
    750Gb Notebook Hard Drive.
The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 55 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
As you don't have your Recovery Discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below - these discs will reinstall the Operating System on your new drive as well as installing most of the original software that came bundled.  They will also re-create the Recovery Partition on the drive.  A guide on using these Recovery Discs can be found Here.

  • I have a dynex 32" lcd tv and a pavilion dv6 and cant view the laptop on the tv using hdmi cables

trying to view netfilx my computer has windows 7 when i plug in the hdmi cable in the computer screen goes black and there is no signal on tv

I'm having the exact same problem.  I have a Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7, and I have a Dynex TV I was planning to use as an external monitor.  The HDMI cable didn't work; as soon as I connected the computer to the TV using the cable, the computer screen went gray and no further commands would work.  TV said 'No signal'.  Did you ever resolve your problem?  Should I try a VGA cable?
Note that I connected the same tv to a different computer using the same HDMI cable and *SNAP* it came on instantly.

  • HP Pavilion Dv6 7078CA Recovery without recovery disc

Hello!! i have an Hp Pavilion Dv6 - 7078ca, and after just 6 months of use, the Hard Drive just died.
because i live in Brazil, and brought the Computer back home, i couldnt use the warrant, since the warrant is for canada only.
so i changed by my own the HDD for one on the exact same model that it had, but for my surprise, when i used the recovery media that i had made, the DVDs were corrupted, so i coudnt recover it using the recovery media.
I tried to install the windows 7 home premium (the same that came with the notebook), but there was some hardware incompatibility, so i couldnt install the drivers of it.
and the worst problem is: i cant even order other recovery media, because even if i ask them to deliver in some friends house in Canada, so this friend ships for me, HP canadian website dont accept international credit card.
so, my question is, anyone know if i am able to restore my computer without this recovery medias? if yes, how can i do that?
    thanks!!

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion dv6-7078ca Entertainment Notebook Computer. According to the specs, this model shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed at the factory. Here is the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your computer.
You can use the information in this HP forum thread entitled "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download, create the media, and install Windows 7 Home Premium using the Windows product key on bottom of your computer. Please note that this will not restore any of the HP "value-added" that originally come installed on your computer.
If you have any issues installing Windows, please post back. If, after Window is installed, you have missing and/or unknown device listed in the Windows Device Manager... please provide the "Hardware Ids" of the devices.

  • HP Pavilion DV6; Black Screen & Atikmpag.sys BSOD with external Monitor

    Hello Guys.
I have HP Pavilion DV6 Core i7 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Graphics Card. Two weeks ago, I started getting continous Atikmpag, sys BSODs. The operating system also started giving me warnings about the hardrive. After a few days, the BSODs got more frequent. Then one day, I was doing normal stuff on my PC and the Display Driver crashed. Instead of recovering, the PC froze. I forced restart my PC but it got worse. The display of my laptop went black. I connected the laptop to external monitor which detected the display. When I tried to load the windows, it started giving me the Atikmpag.sys BSOD on the start up. Now the operating system works fine in the Safe Mode but with nothing on the laptop's screen. The soultions I have tried so far are.
    -Reinstalled the windows thrice
-Removed the drivers and installed the updated ones a bunch of times.
-Rolled back the bios to an earlier version
-Removed the hardrive and tried to load it from an operating system installed on external flash drive
-Tried loading the PC with linux on external flash drive
-Opened the laptop and cleaned it thoroughly
-Removed all the components and plugged them one by one.
-Removed the old Atikmpag.sys in system32 folder and expanded it with the latest ones.
-Installed every thing fresh from HP website
None of these tricks have given me any luck yet. The only way, I could use the operating system in normal mode, is to delete the atikmpag.sys file in safe mode and then log on back in normal mode. I also analysed the minidump file through window debugger and it says that atikmpag.sys is causing this crash with the TDR message. I did all these with an external monitor as the display of the laptop is black since that day.
Below are the detailed specs of my laptop.
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium
    Version: 6.1.7601
System Model: HP Pavilion Dv6 Notebook PC
    Processor: Intel Core i7 Q 721 @ 1.60 GHz
    Bios Version/Date: Hewlett- Packard F.29, 11/7/2011
    Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 6GB
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1 GB
I have tried almost every solution available on these forums but still have not gotten any where. I am wondering how could the display, graphics card and hard drive stop working at the same time .
I would really appreciate if someone colud help me through this problem.
    Thank you

  • Blue screen with error code and I have no recovery disks for HP Pavilion dv6-1260se

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-1260se with factory installed operating system of Vista. When booting up the computer, I receive a blue screen with this error message: STOP:  c000021a {Fatal System Error}.

I do not have recovery disks for this computer.  I tried to order them but them seem to not be available.  This is my daughter's computer.  She says she started to have trouble after downloading Frost Wire (music share) and then she removed it.  We tried going back to an earlier time and that didn't help and then the blue screen with error message appeared. What do I do now?

    Hi,
Assuming your in the US, recovery discs are available to order for that model here.  That may be the best option.
You should also be able to do a recovery without the discs as well.  Take a look at this document: Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery, and look for the section Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible.  This should allow you to recover the PC.

  • Blue tinted screen, menory problems, underperforming battery - 5 day old HP pavilion dv6-6005sa

I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6-6005sa 15.6" Laptop - Linen White on 14/06/11 from Currys digital, Arndale Centre, Manchester. The laptop is less than 1 week old.
The screen is a frost blue colour from the second I turn it on to the second it is turned off. Weirdly I can see the entire screen, just that everything is blue!! Does anybody know how this can happen??? When I move the screen it flickers from normal to this blue thing. A loose connection maybe?
I am unhappy as I got to send it back to the shop for a under 21 days replacement involving an expensive airmail delivery :@ The alternative would be a 3 week investigation in the lab which I cant be bothered with!
Has anybody else experienced this phenomenon with a HP laptop screen? I also am beginning to experience memory problems and the usb prots are on the blink. I have looked after it very well, it has just been sat on a desk for 5 days! Can anybody explain me this phenomenon and if it is a comon problem with HP laptops?
Now for the next problem as if a faulty screen and memory cache wouldnt be enough! The battery:
The battery specs are as follows:
    Lithium-Ion 6-cell battery
    'upto 7.5 hours battery life'
The battery is advertised to perform 'upto 7.5 hours' however I get maximum 4.5 hours doing absolutely nothing on power saver mode with the laptop with it just sitting there idle on a desk. At the same time I also had wireless and bluetooth off; screen brightness set to 0%, maximum processing chip power reduced to 20%; battery saver mode active; all major applications closed).
I get maximum 2-3 hours doing basic tasks with it such as word processing. Gaming I get maximum 1.5 hours.
The battery checker displays the following:
    Status: Ok (0)
    warrenty type: 1 year
    cycle count 0
    manufacturer: 13-42
    battery age 136 days

I have highlighted in bold the things I thing are suspicious. I feel the results are those of a malfunctioning battery. Could anybody tell me if I am correct withmy assumptions?
As I am no expert coes anybody reading this think these results are normal for a new battery and can you provide me some insight to wether my battery might be faulty or not?

Go to Power Options in the Control panel and select the  Power Saver option. Do not choose balanced. Then run your battery capacity tests again. Hopefully the new setting will improve the time that you get.

    Hi @Premlez
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I am happy to help you with your data. Assuming that your hard drive is both functional and readable, then there are a few ways that you can get you information copied.
Here is a page from wikiHow that shows several ways you can do that. Do not let the title worry you, it is just as applicable to your current situation. You want to do a recovery to repair your notebook before the repair which is the smart thing to do. If the computer will not start properly, then for now this is how you would try to backup the data.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 System Recovery disabled

I bought my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook (running Windows 7) about 2 and a half years back.
It worked beautifully for about an year and a half after which issues began to crop up. First, it was my battery that gave up (I operate it on direct power now with battery backup of around 5 minutes), then there were blue screen errors and the machine getting hot around the bottom left at times (mostly when I ran games). I still continued to use it without taking it to the techician. After a couple more months the DVD drive stopped working for no reason (it opens and closes but does not read the disks).
I had it last week when the machine's fan (I guess it's the fan) started making loud grinding noises. The noises get louder when I'm on the internet. The technician took it down and gave the fan a proper vacuum but the noise persists.
Also, the system has slowed down due to virus attacks (I suppose). There are weird advertisements on this laptop when I run sites like youtube and google. These ads that don't appear on my other laptop. Some sites take an awful lot longer to load (mostly on Google Chrome). The system also, at times, just stops responding and I have to directly switch it off without properly shutting it down.
Now, with some help from forums here I decided to run the 'System Recovery' but it displays the following message:
"Restore your computer to it's original factory condition (Disabled : Please use Recovery Media to recover your system)." I was given no disks for recovery at the time of purchase not that it would have been of any use as my DVD drive no longer works.
With some online help I also ran Hard drive and Memory tests. The Hard Drive test gives the error: "hard disk 1 quick (303)." I gather that means, my hard disk is dying a slow death now.
Now my system has ran down it's warranty and nothing seems to work. The machine seems to be in a tangle, what do I do?
I somehow would love to factory reset my laptop without an external drive. Is that Possible? What am I looking at?

I understand the problem.  HERE is a thread that gives the best possible solution for the same situation.

  • Hp pavilion dv6 recovery system with win 7 dvd image not found

Hello everyone, I have a hp pavilion dv6 I going to restore the operating system win 7 that I previously saved in an image of the system in 2 DVDs. I need to restore the entire computer because I do not want to lose all installations made within a year , including software installations regularly purchased online which do not have the original CDs . I tried to go in :
1 - "Backup and Restore Computer"
2 - Control Panel and select the " Restore system settings or your computer "
    3 - then " advanced recovery methods "
4 - next page select " Use a system image you created earlier to recover your computer "
5 - At this point it asks me to do a backup, but I do not care because the computer is pretty much with the factory settings as has just returned from assistance hp and after ignoring the message I restart the computer in recovery mode expecting to reinstall the system with the image .
After a series of steps at the time to reload the image from the second DVD that I had previously saved , the computer can not find even one image to be restored where am I wrong?
    Thanks Acitano

Had the C partition been split/shrunk to form a new partition previously?
Does disk management show the HDD as basic or dynamic? (Start>Right-click Computer>Manage>disk management on the left).
If it has been switched to dynamic (Windows does this automatically when more than 4 partitions are present on the disk), then the F11 recovery partition won't function until it is restored to basic, but I would like to confirm that is the scenario before providing those steps.
The Disk management shows that my HDD as Dynamic, what should i do then if this is the case and the possible solution to my problem?
please help me & Thank you for your time,
    This question was solved.

If you have more than 4 partitions you will need to delete the extra partition/partitions, then convert the hdd back to Basic.
Older versions of Partiton Wizard Free work:
