Cant recover/reset my Satellite C850 series

I have just recently attempted trying to fix this computer again, and not having any luck what so ever. All of a sudden when I turn the laptop on it shows the Toshiba start screen than goes into automatic repair which than goes into a blank screen and sometimes reads that it has found a error than shuts off. I have tried the f12 which brings up HDD recovery which eventually shuts off and I have also tried 0 which brings up nothing. Is there anything that I can do to get this brand new computer up and running again? Any help, advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you're persistent, both Microsoft and Toshiba say you can reach the Choose an option menu (the Windows 8 version of a recovery environment) from startup.
Microsoft says that repeatedly failing to boot automatically gets you there. You can also get there by booting from a system repair/recovery/installation disc or flash drive.
Toshiba says tapping the F12 key early in the boot gets you there. (You may need to Select <HDD Recovery> after that.) The zero key at the top also seems to work for some.

I have Satellite C850-B519 notebook serial no. 9c287842r from egypt where i live but after downloading bluetooth drivers from toshiba website and installed i got that *"bluetooth peripheral device"* couldn't be found .....also when installing toshiba bluetooth stack it gives me that screen ( it's the jpg link ) and make no progress even i left the notebook installing for 3 hours without any progress
Please answer me i'm sick of it

    > and already installed realtek waln driver in addition to realtek bluetooth filter package
As I said: Realtek WLan driver -> Realtek BT filter package + Toshiba BT stack
Here you can get the BT stack:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
Finally you have to enable the BT using F12 (or Fn + F12) to finish the installation!
    > my friend has a toshiba c850 with win 8 installed but bluetooth stack have my problem .....i don't know what the hell is wrong with c850 series
First of all not all Satellite models supports Bluetooth. In case the BT isnt supported, you could not install BT drivers and BT stack!
Furthermore the Satellite C850 series is equipped with different modules (Atheros, Intel or Realtek). Usage of wrong drivers leads to the same error.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

    Hi
    Question 1)
What system do you have? As Im no mistaken the Satellite C850-A797 was preinstalled with Windows 7 64bit.
The webcam drivers as well as other drivers for Satellite C850 series can be downloaded here:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
I actually downloaded the webcam driver for the above page and it worked properly.

  • Satellite C850-B635 and Win7 - card reader is not working

My notebook came with windows 8 and the card reader was working
but I installed windows 7 64-bit , downloaded all required drivers to my notebook , but the card reader is not working now .
I downloaded a driver called card reader controller but it didn't work as well
I don't know if there is a problem or there is a driver that I should install and I don't know .
please help me solving that problem .
In my windows device manager these devices isn't recognized :
    *PCI simple communications controller
    *SM Bus Controller
    *Unknown Device
I tried to search in my drivers download page in Toshiba website but couldn't find these
please help me making my card reader working again.
    Regards
    Message was edited by: domaking

To me the case is simple and the reason why the SD card reader does not work is that an compatible driver isnt installed.
My theory seems to be correct since the SM bus controller and PCI simple communications controller appear in the device manager and I guess one of these devices belongs to the SD card reader/controller.
I think you should simply install this Realtek Card Reader Controller which I found on the Toshiba EU driver page
    http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/carc-20130924161048.zip
Furthermore you should install all other Win 7 drivers as well as Toshiba tools available for Satellite C850 series.
Very important is the chipset driver, USB 3.0 driver (Win 7 needs this driver to control the USB 3.0 port), display driver. etc
Not very essential tools are Bulletin Board, Online Product information, Reeltime, etc such additional tools dont improved the notebook performance so its up to you if you want to use these software parts

  • Recover Satellite C850-F12S - currently installed Win 8.1

    hi!
i bought my Satellite C850-F12S with Win 7 Starter now i installed Win 8.1 and i want to restore it to its original state back to Win 7 Starter but dont know how to do that.
I didnt create recovery image so m lost on how to recover it.
    Anyone help me please

If you did not create the recovery medium in the past, then you will not be able to recover the notebook.
The HDD recovery isnt possible anymore because the HDD recovery partition was deleted during Win 8.1 installation.
You have only one option to do that: you have to order such recovery disk:

  • Satellite C850-F0152 - Wireless is gone after Win 7 installation

    Hello
I have a C850-F0152, i got it with Win 8 so i reformatted with win 7 x64, however my wireless is gone..
What i mean is, i had wireless with win8, i could connect to networks and stuff, but with the reformat its just gone, there is no wireless adaptor being picked up in my device manager, and i cant see anything in the Network and sharing center.
All my drivers are installled..i think, i let windows download most of them, and the only ones i cant find online and that windows also cant find is. Network Controller, USB Controller, then it lists 1 unknown device.
Help someone Please, i got no clue whats going on.
    Regards
    Brigadier

    > All my drivers are installed...i think,
Well, I think you did not install a compatible WLan driver
The notebook seems to support Realtek Wlan / BT combo card.
This means that one module shares the Wlan and BT function.
In this case you should install Realtek Wlan driver, Realtek BT filter package and finally the Toshiba BT stack.
PS. Satellite C850-F0152 belongs to the PSCBWF series. All drivers should be available on Toshiba EU driver page

    > same problem happen when i enter the bios,
If this happens within the BIOS, then this problem is related to the hardware malfunction.

  • Cannot start Windows on my Satellite C850 laptop

Powers on fast, but only shows Toshiba logo, tried all the F8, 0, keys etc, computer came to me overloaded, no disc clean up, preinstalled windows 8, cannot access BIOS.
As stated will only show LOGO, no beeping/noise, can hear it running quietly, would like to reset to factory/out of box condition, PSCBWA-09l001 = PART NO. What to do???
Love a challenge, no disc, no backups, but I know the solution is out there somewhere without paying more big bucks.
    Grateful for any suggestions.

It looks like the Satellite C850 PSCBWA-09L001 was released in Australia.
The notebook was preinstalled with Win 8.
There are two possibilities to set the notebook back to factory settings:
    1) HDD recovery
    2) Recovery disk (DVD or USB flash memory stick)
    Here an instruction:
[How to access Recovery, Restore and Reset Options in Windows 8|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/faq/776]
To access the System HDD Restore, Refresh and Reset options using the F12 option at start up, perform the following:
    1. If not already, ensure the computer is completely shut down.
    2. Now restart the computer by pressing the power button - IMMEDIATELY start tapping the F12 key on the keyboard until the "Boot Menu" screen appears.
    3. Using the arrow keys, select <HDD Recovery> and press "Enter".
    4. On the next screen you are asked to confirm if you want to continue with recovery. Select "Yes".
    5. The computer will bring you to the Advanced start up screen.
    6. Select Troubleshoot. Under Troubleshoot you will see Refresh and Reset.
    7. Select Advanced options. Located here is "System Restore."

  • Factory reset my satellite laptop

hey, i would like to factory reset my satellite x200/x205 series. it's an old computer with alot of stuff on it. i would just like to in a way start fresh with a "new" computer. i have backed up and transferred all my important files and documents already and my computer is ready for a reset. am i doing this right? if i factory reset my comp will it mess up any drivers or anything else on my comp? if so how can i fixit or update any possible drivers afte the reset? i have the toshiba recovery and applications/drivers that came with the computer for windows vista home premium 32 bit disk one and two. if i put those in and follow the prompts is this all i need for a factory reset? i also have the upgrade your windows vista experience disk that came with the computer also.

When I had so much trouble installing Windows 7 from the purchased cd, I had to do an "out of box recovery" for my laptop . Make a back up disc of everything you want to keep. I only did Windows Photo Gallery, there was nothing else of importance to backup. Then insert the Toshiba Recovery Disc that came with your computer at the time of purchase, and follow all the directions.  If you do not have the Recovery Disc, call  1-800-457-7777, they can send you one, for a very small charge (?? $20.00 or so ??) Make sure you have your Internet Security and Anti-virus disc ready to install. Personally, there were less problems with the install than the download. TIP TIP TIP I use my favorites box all the time, so I wrote down every site I had listed there...that way when the out of box recovery was complete, all I had to do was go to my list (abc order) and open each page or site, then hit add to favorites. That saved me so much time !!! I also write down the passwords for each site, just so I don't have to remember them, and when you're working and trying to think...well senior moment takes on a life of it's own !!!   Hope I helped

  • Satellite C850-19Z - Startup loop error

    I have a Toshiba Satellite C850 - 19Z on Windows 8. I've had it for about 18 months.
On startup, the Toshiba logo comes up as normal. Then a blue error screen comes up with a :( emoticon & says the laptop will have to restart. The Toshiba logo comes up again with "preparing automatic repair" and then the screen goes blank. Still on but blank, & then it just keeps looping this. I took it to the IT support at my university, they tried to recover using a Windows 8 disc but it didn't work. I emailed Toshiba, they sent me an 8 step guide to recover the hard drive (holding 0 on startup) but after selecting Yes, it just goes back into the loop again.
Hoping someone can help. It just happened out of the blue when I wasn't even in the room. I've accepted the fact I'll lose everything on it but if there was a way to get it working and save all my stuff, that'd be ideal!

    Hi
    While booting press F12 button.
Now you should see different bootable devices and in case the HDD recovery partition was not touched in the past, you should also see the HDD recovery option.
Choose this option and try to start the HDD recovery. Usually this should help you to recover the notebook back to factory settings.
In case this isnt possible, you should use the Toshiba recovery disk (or recovery USB flash memory stick) to recover the notebook to factory state.
In case you did not create such medium, you could order this here:
    http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
In case the recovery would not be possible even using such disk, the hardware problem might be the reason why the unit cannot boot the system.

  • Can't find my Satellite C850-1DJ in drivers section

    Hi,
I've bought this laptop one year ago, last week I dit the win8.1 upgrade. Since then my laptop is booting every hour. I believe this could be related to drivers, so I tried to find the driver updates of my model. However the auto detect couldn't find my pc and also when browsing through the models, I cannot find it myself.
    I have a Satellite C850-1DJ with part number: pscbye-02h00mbt
    Thanks,
    Anx

Ive checked Toshiba support and download page on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and your notebook model is listed there.

  • Satellite C850-1MC - Screen Repair Advice

    Hello
regarding replacing a cracked screen for the Toshiba Satelittle C850-1MC, I have looked at a range of videos, they all have generic principles on replacing the screen, which does not seem very difficult.
    I have basic experience in replacing parts, but never on a laptop, and I just want to make sure I get the right replacement screen for the laptop;
there are various C850 screen replacements, will they all work for the 1MC? or do I need to get a specific screen for this laptop? for example, the C850D-1H8 15.6" LED screen, which is a 40 pin connector, would that be okay?
Basically, are the screens interchangeable on the satellite series, as long as its the right size?
    Thank you

    Hi
Generally speakign all display modules for Satellite C850 models should be compatible with your Satellite C850-1MC.
Satellite C850-1MC is part of the PSCBWE series and the notebook was equipped with a 15.6" TFT color LCD display supporting the resolution of 1366 x 768 pix.
The mentioned display for Satellite C850D-1H8 should be compatible even if the series part number is different

  • Satellite C850 boots to white screen

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C850 PSCBWA-05E001 18 months ago so out of warranty now.
I bought it for some friends I gave it to who are in the Philippines so it's difficult for me to check and repair. My friends are lacking funds to get it checked so any help would be appreciated.
A few days it started booting to a white screen. You can just see the mouse cursor but that's all. They cant make the computer display anything. I've read on a number of forums that it could be a loose video cable however I got them to hooked up a working external monitor via the laptop's VGA output & rebooted the laptop & the external monitor goes straight to white screen also so thats seems to rule out a faulty video cable as that would affect the laptop monitor only I think.
I'm concerned the video card has failed which being an integregrated graphics chip I assume means replacing the whole motherboard I assume.
Pretty dissapointed for my friends since the machine is only just out of warranty.
    Has anyone got any ideas?

    >I'm concerned the video card has failed which being an integregrated graphics chip I assume means replacing the whole motherboard I assume.
Yes, Im afraid the motherboard has to be replaced in case of graphic card malfunction.
This would be the worst case since new motherboard is very expensive and in most cases its not worth to purchase a new motherboard if warranty isnt valid anymore.
I have no many solutions for you; it looks like a hardware problem and to solve such issue, the faulty part needs to be replaced. But of course, its a simply a question of money :(
