Cant Register used IPod
Hi, i bought my ipod touch 4g used online and it recently fell and cracked. I tried registering it online with apple but it said it was already linked to a account. i tried contacted the people i bought it from but thay wont respond. when i take it in to apple will they still fix it? i dont want to be accused of stealing the device,etc. thanks for the help!
- The registration does not make any difference. Apple does not act like policeman and will not help return an iPod if it was stolen.
- Apple should fix it unless it is in pieces. However, you will have to pay Apple $99, $149 or $199, depending upon the capacity, for a replacement iPod. A third-party place may be less expensive. Hereis one:

To the best of my knowledge, no, you don't need to re-register the iPod to be able to purchase and register AppleCare for it.

okay i finally had itunes recognize my ipod and it ask if i want to register but the window doesn't expand to the register button. I tries tab but no luck.
suggestions?When I try to register my new iPod nano, everything works fine except at the end (after saying "OK" to the free content), I get a pop up message in iTunes that says "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The requested resource was not found. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later." I've been trying every couple of hours for about 14 hours now. It acts like the page that I'm being directed to no longer exists. And when I eject my iPod and close iTunes, the next time I plug it in, it tries to register it again, which means I'm not getting registered.

I cant register my new iPod.
This is because I have no bottom scroll bar. My iTunes wont allw me to use my iPod without registering it and I cant register it beacause it only shows half the page. I click to register then when I get to the second page where all the regulations are, all I can do is click I agree. I cannot click the continue button because it is on the other side of the page and I cant get to it. I have been looking for a way to get a bottom scroll bar but so far I have come up with nothing. I have a brand new iPod I can't use. Very sad. If this helps its a third generation nano. If anyone knows what I should do please tell me.Make sure your screen resolution is 1024x768.

My ipod nano 4th generation was set up/registered using my mac computer. Unfortunately it was plugged into a pc and all my files, (song, pics, etc) were erased. When I plugged my ipod into my mac to sync it again, it wouldn't even appear in the source list. I can't even click on it to restore it. It's simply not there. Any ideas on how I can get it to appear in my source list and sync it again using my mac? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I just purchased a new nano for my wife. I was about to register her ipod using my apple id and itunes account so we could just use the same account to order music. Am I able to do this? I did not continue just incase registering her nano would "de-register" me video ipod.

I cant' sync my ipod because it says"The iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later. I can't download it because my MAC is version 10.5.8 and it won't accept the newer version of itunes. Any suggestions?

Hi, I don't know which Apple ID I used to register my Ipod Nano. I had to restore my Computer and now I can't connect my iPod to iTunes again. I have my serial number and ECID. I'm using Windows, BTW, sorry!
Search your email for the word Logic (and set the search to All) and you should find the receipt (so long as you didn't delete it)
Other than that.. simply contact Apple directly and ask.. Make sure you have your transaction details ready for them as they will need it...

how do I register a used ipod
Restore it in iTunes to factory settings. This process wipes all content from the iPod, resets all settings back to their defaults, and reloads a fresh copy of the iPod's software onto the device. It will as if you are just pulling the iPod out of the box.

SOMEONE USED MY SERIAL NUMBER TO REGISTER MY IPOD TO THEIR ACCOUNT.
Hello. I realized that you can register your ipod to your apple account with the serial number in the box. Because of this, I am able to track my lost iPod touch the moment it has wifi -its in lost mode (so yeah, I;m just waiting for it to go online before it alarms, displays my phone number, and locks)
NOW THE OTHER SITUATION: Right before I bought that iPod, someone at home lost my previous 2010 iPod touch. I still have the box(THE SERIAL NUMBER) AND the receipt so I thought maybe if I register the serial number, I can have it tracked on iCloud. I was able to "register" when I visited the page, "register your iPod" but it didn't show up in my Apple Support Profile thing... when I registered it from there, it showed that the thief already registered it in ther Apple I.D.
Now if I still have serial number/the box/and the proof of purchase, will apple be able to help me by tracking it or at least red flag/disable the thief's usage of the iPod??? I don't know. It's just that I think I see that the technology is there butI don't know if it can be used for people who's iPod's have been stolen and/or lost like me. And I think its unfair that people get to get away by legally being allowed to "take over" your iPod with their Apple I.D.'s even if you still have the serial number/box/and proof of purchase.wow. so these thieves can just LEGALLY take over your iPod with their accounts. Using a serial number that YOU BOUGHT while you have the PROOF of purchase and the BOX still WITH YOU--even if serial number tracking technology is available--the device is still allowed to live for them, while apple provides them legal services. It should at least be disabled How tragic. Next time I own a THIRD iPod (which is not anytime soon), I'll have to chain it to my neck... oh the world

I recently purchased a used 20GB 4th Gen. I was told that it was possible to "re-register" an ipod. I went to https://register.apple.com/ to do so, and when I typed in the serial number on the back it told me... "This information does not appear to be in our records." I also tried, as suggested, every possible typo (S for 5 and B for 8, etc.), but still nothing worked.
Is it possible that my ipod is that old?Just as a matter of interest, try entering the serial number in the box on this page to check the warranty status. See if it works.
