Cant reset apple tv using itunes

Apple TV went stupid. Could not reset via unplugging power.
Tried to use ITunes, as per instructions, to reset - but ITunes wont recognize its existence, when plugged in via micro USB.
Tried a few times.
Gnashing teeth, rending garments.
General despondency reigns at the moment.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Make sure you're following instructions exactly (unplug all cables, connect micro usb, if using a 3rd gen ATV reconnect power). Connect directly to computer, not a keyboard port or USB hub. Try a different cable.

iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode

If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been usingiCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
5. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

Cant uninstall, instal or use itunes..

I get an error message when I try to uninstall, find itunes.msi, cant use it because it is a different age... when I do find it....

Especially take note that these items need to be uninstalled in a specific order:
1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.

Can I move my iTunes music to a device with a different Apple ID using iTunes library on desktop?

I'm going to be getting a new iPhone real soon and I'm going to create a new Apple ID. The one that I'm currently using now will be handed over to another with respected agreements. I was just wondering if I could still move the music purchases with this ID to my phone that will have a different one using iTunes library on desktop.
Possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. No "yeah, I have this problem too" posts because that is completely unhelpful, thank you.

You can move the song files into a different iTunes library and sync them to a new device, but they will remain associated with the original Apple ID.

I want to restore my 3rd gen apple tv using itunes

Please help me folks!
I'm trying to restore my 3rd gen apple tv through itunes as I can't do it through the apple tv itself. I have followed the instructions to the letter; 1) open itunes 2) plug micro USB cable in to back of apple tv box and connect to laptop using USB port 3) connect apple tv box to power source.
Did that! However, my apple tv device DID NOT SHOW UP in my itunes at all. So now I am stuck with a 3rd gen apple tv device that won't let me restart it using the remote OR using itunes.
Suggestions please. Don't fancy spending over £100 on another one.

Sometimes if iTunes doesn't see a device for me, whether my iPhone or iPad, a simple restart of my Mac is usually enough to get it working. I wonder some of the same tips that Apple lists for iOS devices not being recognized by iTunes would work for Apple TV as well.

Can't connect to apple tv using itunes id

I have added a second apple TV to my network and can not get it to connect. My older second generation apple tv works as does my desktop and mac pro but the newer second unit does not accept my apple login. I have used 5 computers authorized to use my apple/itunes login. Why cant i connect?

we also have the same problem. 2 apple tv's but both are 1st generation. One will connect and one wont as it wont accept the apple login password. Support is looking into it. Seems we might have more then one itunes account and this could be causing our trouble. Will keep you posted

Email account deleted cant reset apple id

My kids have locked the ipad by doing the password too many times as i changed it because the played to much and i had to reset it through itunes, but during the reset process it asked for my Icloud account ********@yahoo.com (hiding my email through *****) it asked me for the old email that i used to activate find my iphone but now i use ******@hotmail.com and i cannot reactive the ipad. I've forgotten the security questions for the *******@yahoo.com and when i tried to reset it my yahoo account had already been deleted for being inactive for a year? Any suggestions on this? My kids want to use the Ipad and so do i. I have used multiple ways to fix this problem such as changing my current email to the email i had before but that did not work as my old email was already registered any help on this?

Can't reset my iphone using itunes or dfu

Hoping someone can help me as I have been scouring loads of help pages but getting nowhere!!!!!
I have an iPhone 5 with os 6.1.2
I have had several issuses of late and as such want to reset my phone. When ever I plug into itunes it crashes so I cant access my backups so ok my contacts and all important data are backed up via icloud so no problems there.
I try to update my phone durect through the setiings but it just hangs forever
Tried to erase data and settings but again it starts to do it but then crashes and hangs for ages until I turn it off and back on.
Tried reseting/downgrading/upgrading in DFU mode and even pre downloaded different ios versions but when It tries to install onto my phone it keeps telling me that an unknown error occured 3014 / 3194 depending on ios version.
I have done all the tasks its tells you to do regarding using different computers etc blah, blah, blah but nothing is working.
So to sum up.
My iphone works but I can not connect to itunes to put music on etc, I can not upgrade, downgrade my software so I think I have a problem with the actual hardware!!!!
Any suggestions please???????????????

HT1273 Steaming photos to Apple itv using itunes for windows 7

I have just purchased an Apple Itv and can't find the option within itunes to select my photo directory for streaming. I am using windows 7 and the latest version of itunes for widows 7. I can't find in itunes the option to select the location of my photo directory as specified in the help. The help tells me to select file -> home sharing this function does not exist in the latest version of itunes for windows 7.

I have the home sharing setup and can play the music on my Windows 7 PC within itunes via the Apple TV (Gen 2). The problem I am having is how to specific the location of my photos to itunes so I can stream these via the Apple TV.
The apple help guide says once home sharing is enable to stream photos selecr file -> home sharing -> choose photos to share with Apple TV. However this in note there and the only option presented is option to turn off home sharing.

I pod disabled and cant remember passcode. cannot use itunes as it wants update and restore need to use passcode and the hold sleep/wake key and home key doesnt put it in DFU either . any help ?

My ipod has been disabled as I cant remember the passcode . When doing a restore on I Tunes it will only update and restore , the update doesnt work as the phone is locked and I need a passcode. I have tried the other way which is to hold the sleep/wake key and home key together for 10 seconds but as soon as you plug it inot the pc the ipod boots up so this method doesnt work either . Very close to usin it as a brick , any suggestions ?? Thank you

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
