updater doesnt recognize my iPod or says error and therefore cant restore the iPod (nano)

I have a Gateway 7215GX and running Windows XP Home edition, I have the latest version of iTunes. I had just got my nano a couple days ago and had plugged in the iPod nano i had previously had a mini but broke now i plugged in the nano and updater recognized it the first time to update the ipod from 1.1 to a 1.1.1 and now im trying to restore it to see if iTunes would recognize it now.

Looks like the iPod Hardisk is having problem.
Can you do the iPod Disk Diagnostics as posted by tt2, it wont fix your problem but helps in troubleshooting.
You system check maybe above but dont go for Auto, select the Manual test, as tt2 described in his detailed post.

I just updated my iPod with update version 1.1 Is it ok if I delete version 1.0 from my computer since im not going to be using it anymore?

I downloaded the new Update just recently and have had nothing but problems since.
In the first 5 minutes after installation, my iPod (5th 30GB) Froze on the "Do not disconnect" screen and was unable to do anything to it, and my PC wouldnt recognise it as a device. I left it to Run out of batteries and that fixed it for a while.
Today as i was playing my music through "shuffle songs" it lagged on one song, and wouldnt respond so i reset it, causing the sad ipod icon to show. Now i have been charging my iPod through my PC, unrecognized in iTunes and switching between two screens, the sad face, and the "Please wait, Very low battery". I can reset it, but unfortunately this achieves nothing. Is there anything i can do?

Cant Restore ipod mini

My Ipod mini has the folder with an exclamation point icon on it and I have tried all the solutions apple provided and none have worked to solve the problem. So I tried to restore my ipod mini and even that didnt work. I switch my ipod mini into disk mode so that the ipod updater software can recognize it but as soon as the updater software connects to the ipod mini, the ipod then restarts itself and the updater software is no longer connected to the ipod and goves me the error "cant mount ipod". I have tried restoring it several different times on different USB ports several times. I am stumped and have no idea how to solve this problem and help would be appreciated.

If your iPod is recognized in Explorer, close the updater program and try this.
Click on start/control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say “M”, or something similar.
A drive letter conflict can sometimes cause the 'can't mount iPod' message.
Then try the restore again.

Failed to restore ipod with itune 7.6

I found the following post for iTunes 7.4.3, but the same case for my iTunes 7.6 + firmware 1.1.4. Tried the suggested solution but no luck.

Problem solved, I've brought my iPod back to life =D
Let me have a re-cap of what had happened on my ipod
[ Cause ]
iPod running out of power, and shut down itself. I didn't realize this and tried to turn on it again, and problem started ... (i lately found that it fell into recovery mode)
[ Symptom ] (I've experienced many errors, all shown below)
1. blank black screen (expected), the screen showed nothing even in progress of recharge, reset or restore. and ipod fell into recovery mode.
2. blank white screen and yellow screen during restore
3. iTunes give unkonwn error 1, 1601, 1604, 6 and -6
4. computer cannot detect iPod suddenely
5. restore process looked good, but failed at the stage "verifying iPod firmware"
6. iPod ran into DFU and iBoot recovery mode when connecting to PC.
[ What I have done ] (i dare not call it solution, as i have tried so much reset-restor-reset-restore ... on it)
# when problem (4) occurred, I reset iPod and put it in recovery mode (by pressing Power + Home button for 10 sec with USB cable plugged to PC, and "Apple Recovery (DFU) USB Driver" would show in PC Device Manager. Run iTune and would force you to restore.
# when updating firmware, it was detected as "Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB Driver". Then changed to DFU and forced you to run iTunes again to restore.
# when problem (3) occurred, I repeatedly tried restore-restore-restore... until it gave the same error (and my last error is unknown error 1601)
# I did un-install and re-install iTunes
BUT, regardless so much i've worked on it, i strongly believe the ONLY THING i'll try next time if problem occur again:
No matter what you see on the screen, even nothing, and whatever it is detected in PC, FULLY RECHARGE IT first before you do anything. It'd likely come back to life AUTOMATICALLY. If it doesn't work, put it aside for some days, come back and try again.
my last comment: iPod is great, but iTune itself is stupid. It's interesting to find many ipod fans world trying their very best to help iTunes to explain what does 1601,1604,-6 actually means, and to give known solutions for unknown errors.

Restored ipod not updating entire itunes music library

after restoring ipod to factory conditions, the ipod does not "update" all the music in my itunes music library. instead, both the ipod and itunes freeze. what needs to be done to complete an update?

Cant restore ipod to restore 1

the restore article said i will be prompt with four restore options when i restore my ipod, but it doesnt prompt me, its just restores it with the newest version of the ipod which i DO NOT want.
i want to restore it with the software that came with it.

If yo are going to remove and reinstall all Apple software components follow these instructions since Apple says order is importent.
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
I myselft would first reboot the computer, reset the iPod, try another cable and USB port.

Can't restore ipod or update

I have a 2nd gen ipod i've had it for a while now.. 2 years? Anyways my ipod was acting weird, like i couldnt transfer songs or delete them, itunes would just freeze. So i try restoring it, but the bar doesnt move, and i get the error message "Cannot restore ipod, error (1418)" something like that, now i can add any songs or restore, can anyone help?
