Cant run adobe acrobat x1 pro after installing it - serial number upgrade problem

i have installed adobe acrobat xi pro on my new microsoft surface computer running windows 8.1.  i just got this new computer ... the product was originally installed on my old computer. (i purchased the product a little over a year ago)  the download and installation appeared to have gone well ... but now when i attempt to actually run the program, i get the message "serial number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer"  a window asks me to select a product from a drop down list - but adobe acrobat x1 pro does not appear on that list

The message you are getting indicates you purchased the software as an upgrade version and it is asking you to identify the older version that you upgraded from to prove that you qualify for using the upgrade version.  YOu need to select the older version and provide its serial number as well.

  • Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan

Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan through Adobe, although Scanner says its combatible with Windows 8. Cannot reinstall drivers because Brother claims they're built-in. Help!

    1. Re: Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan

I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

  • I keep getting an invalid serial number when re-installing Adobe Acrobat 9 I am getting my serial number from my registered products

I keep getting an invalid serial number when re-installing Adobe Acrobat 9 I am getting my serial number from my registered products

If it was an upgrade version, it may be you are being asked for the qualifying product S/N and are entering the new S/N instead. That would cause a problem.

  • Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro - silent install not completely silent

    Hello,
I am trying to create an installer for Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro. I have used the customization wizard to create a transform file for the install and specified it to be silent. However, it appears that windows are still opening in the background when the installer runs, which causes our automated installer service to close out of the install thinking the installer is "broken."
Is there an easy way to make the installer completely, 100% silent?
    The command is currently:
    if exist [file generated to determine if a prior uninstall was sucessful] (msiexec /i "[PATH]Adobe Acrobat Pro\Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro\AcroPro.msi" /qn CLIENTUILEVEL=0 TRANSFORMS=[PATH]\Adobe Acrobat Pro\Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro\AcroPro.mst" /l*v "[PATH]\adobe.log")
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Drew
EDIT: The windows opening look like they are deleting some dll files. If anyone knows a workaround, that's be great.

Answered this in your other post.  Please only post once per issue. Here is the response I put in that thread:
"If you are installing on a machine that Acrobat 10 previously  then this is likely deleting the old Adobe PDF Printer files if anything instead of the Setup files.  I don't believe there is a way to change this behavior."

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro Is Installed but Not Working

I installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro about a year ago. It has never worked, and I'm just now getting around to trying to fix it. When I try to open a PDF document with the program, it brings up a window that asks if I'll allow the program to make changes to my computer. I click "yes," and the window goes away, but then absolutely nothing happens, the document never opens, and I have to open it with Adobe Reader instead.
I'd like to be able to use the program that I paid for.
    What can I do?
    Thanks.

you should open the directory where adobe x pro was installed.  find Acrobat.exe, right click it>click "run as administrator".
if that fails, fun the acrobat cleaner:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    restart your computer
    reinstall acrobat x pro.

Trying to run my older Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows 7. Have original disc and S/N. Won't run...

I was able to install the program on my computer. (Only glitch was that it asked for a .dll file for Vista which I'm not running.
I was able to activate the program ok.  When I try to convert any MS Office document to .pdf, it appears to start the process but just doesn't actually produce a .pdf file.  No error message or anything...

I have successfully installed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on windows 7 and created an Adobe User ID.

  • Why is Acrobat X Pro Asking For A Serial Number?

I have an up-to-date subscription on The Cloud and now for some reason Acrobat X is asking me to enter a serial number. The Cloud also says that I have the updated Acrobat XI version already installed. It is not on my system and I never initiated an upgrade to XI to begin with. Any ideas why this is occuring? I can't use the software. It will no longer launch.

    Hello,
this didn't solve my issue unfortunately. Subscriptions to the Cloud do not require the input of serial numbers. What was also odd about this particular situation was that my subscription was telling me that Acrobat XI Pro was installed and updated, but it was not showing in my Applications folder. I had to locate the Installer for Acrobat XI Pro (HD>Utilities>Adobe Installers), launch this and then UNinstall the program. I then had to reinstall the program through my Cloud Application Manager. This solved my issue. Also, Acrobat X Pro is not part of the Cloud subscription - Acrobat XI Pro is, however. That is why it was asking for a serial number.  I hope this helps someone else. Thanks.

  • Acrobat X Pro pop-up says serial number to activate product has expired? Why??

We purchased 2 licenses for Adobe Acrobat X Pro to allow us to digitally certify engineering plans in PDF form, and now this installation of Acrobat X Pro says the "serial number you used to activate the product has expired" and this "is your last opportunity to launch the product before it is automatically deactivated."  It also says we "must provide a new serial number or start a trial on next launch."
Why?  Why would we need to re-purchase serial numbers when we purchased the product already?

Just got done with a tech support telling me
I am really sorry to inform you that, the serial number is a invalid serial number.
In this case, I request you to contact the reseller for the refund.
I contacted the Reseller (LSS)  and they asked for my orriginal order number, I sent it and they promptly sent me a new serial number to use.  It worked.
    My copy is working.

  • Cannot Install Acrobat 9 Pro after Installing IE8

The story... Running Vista Business.  I've been running Acrobat 9 Pro for a while now.  I have since upgraded my browser from IE6 (default install) to IE7 to IE8.  Today I decided to uninstall/reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro to troubleshoot an issue.  All of a sudden, the Acrobat 9 Pro installer quits during the preinstall checks and says, "Acrobat requires Internet Explorer version 6".
At this point, downgrading IE is out of the question (for a multitude of reasons), so I re-ran the Acrobat 9 installer, this time doing a custom install.  In the advanced settings, I unchecked the PDFMaker for Internet Explorer option.  After that, the installer ran without any errors.  Wanted to post this in case some else out there runs into this issue.
Apparently when Adobe built Acrobat 9, they assumed that IE versions would never go above 6.
    Bug or bust? Your call.

Hi, yes, understood that they are different things. However, if I'm to
rely on the link provided on the first reply then does it follow that 9
Pro is also not supported on Mountain Lion? I have a MACbook here on OSX
Mountain Lion, and as I've also mentioned on my first post, I was able to
install 9 Pro and update it as well.
It really is just odd that Lion is singled out here. I also checked this
and there is no mention of problems with updating 9 Pro:

now. We though of using X Pro instead but, again, if I rely on the system
    requirements on this link -
    http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/acrobatpro/tech-specs.html - the OSX
version our user has is still not supported.
    Mac OS
    Intel processor
    Mac OS X v10.5.8 or v10.6.4

  • Can I run Adobe Acrobat 6 pro and Reader X

I continue to use Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional for its ability to combine documents, and insert and delete pages in PDFs.  If I download and install Adobe Reader X, will it overwrite Acrobat 6 Pro, rendering it useless?  I realize that 6 Pro if very old, but has all the functionality I need to create pdfs.  I am only interested in upgrading the reader portion because I occasionally receive files created in later versions and would like to view them with all their newer functions.
    Thanks!

Might work; might not.  Legacy apps (CS2, 3, 4) that weren't built to run on modern operating systems may have trouble with Mavericks.   I think you'll be OK with CS5, 6 and CC.

  • Cannot get to Acrobat X Pro after Installing

I installed Acrobat X Pro on a server. Icon is white and says Acrobat X Pro but when I open it it is only reader. I do not have Reader installed on the server. I also have already gone to edit:preferences:general and chose the default to Acrobat X Pro but I still only get Reader when it is opened.
Please help...this is for hospital use.

    Hi Lori,
I think the registry keys are not getting updated after installation of Acrobat.
Try uninstalling Adobe Reader and Acrobat both and then install only Acrobat and check if issue still exists.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple because Acrobat and Reader share files, and that's why Adobe recommends not to have them both installed in the same machine.
