Cant run skype on android

I have Micromax P666 Tab with android 4.4.2 Kitkat... I have installed skype 3.2.06673, 4.0 and the latest 5.2.0.61097 but neither cant run,,, the oldest cant sign in, the middle one shows network error even when i m fully connected to a wifi network, and the latest one cant launch itself (It unfortunately shuts down).....Can anyone help?

Skype has been discontinuing / blocking access to certain platforms and operating systems so you must be running Android 2.3.x Gingerbread or higher to install it.
As far as I can tell the Xperia x8 is shipped with Android 1.6 upgradable to 2.1 which does not meet the minimum requirement for Skype.
It maybe possible to install unofficial mods of Android to get Gingerbread (aka Cyangenmod) but the process is messy, may brick your device not to mention void your warranty.
For what it's worth a new handset running Kitkat or higher would be a better solution since there's no telling how long Android Gingerbread would remain supported.

Greetings, I'm running newest skype versions on both computer and android device at the same time [HTC One M7], and since time I went to Windows 8/or updated skype on Android, whenever someone calls me and I pick it up [no matter whether phone, or computer] it hits me automatically to "online" state.
On computer/desktop I'm set to "not available" [for years now ], and on Android I have it set on "invisible", since there's not "not available" options. It was working so far so good for years as I remember now, but since time I'm under Windows 8/maybe some update on Android, call is enough, I don't need to pick it up, and it always hits me to "online", and never stays at "not available". Please advise, I'm desperate, since I all people are going crazy when I'm "online" :/

trying to download skype for windows and when i run the instill file it comes up with a error
(installing skype failed code 163 and do everything it asks but cant find skype on the uninstall list can anybody help

I'll try this message again because apparently the first time I wrote it it just went into the ether of the internet. Recently Skype on my S4 has been logging back in and starting up after I've logged out even after I've forced closed the app. Previously when I closed the app by signing out it would completely get out of skype. If this behavior continues I will make sure that I make my company and friends leave skype and Lync (since they are becoming the same thing). This is on top of the terrible redesign of the desktop app that you pretended to listen to feedback on but after over 80 pages of feedback, decided not to listen to at all. Please don't present this as a "feature" or say that you can solve the problem by turning off "Sign in automatically" and "turning off notificiations." I want those things to remain as I don't want to have to enter my password each time I use the app and I would like the notifications when in use. And turning them on and off each time is the mark of a terrible interface. If this is some sort of feature, it needs to be made separate and made sure that Skype doesn't autorun when turning on your phone. I should mention that some of these have been notifications in the middle of the night, so it not only can affect ones sleep, it can cause additional communication problems with people thinking they are online when they truly are not. Definitely not something you want in a business or personal atmosphere. Skype for Android even with it's new notifications is still a terrible battery hog, with no option to change the now strange formatting and call button is in a place that results in a lot of unintentional calls because it's by where the touch keyboard is instead of at the top like it was previously. There is no reason that Skype should come back after being forced closed, but it should not have to get to that point. Please fix ASAP. This does explain some of the terrible battery life I've been experiencing lately.

THERE IS A WORKAROUND FOR THIS VERY ANNOYING AND BAD BEHAVIOUR I also have experienced this problem on S4mini, SII and other Android devices running all sorts of versions of AOSP. You are all correct that this should not happen (signout should == signout) but if you don't want to reboot you Android all the time then do the following (instructions for A 4.4.2 Kitkat on Samsung running TouchWiz but similar to other devices)0. Signout of SKYPE1. SETTINGS2. MORE ...3. APPLICATION MANAGER4. RUNNINGYou should find a SKYPE process; select it and STOP (ignoring any warnings). Voila, no more zombie SKYPE Worring things include being online and woken in the middle of the night - but more so is that the running process is VIDEOMONITOR - now why would MSFT want to leave that running???

Hi, This is my first time using Skype's fourums so I am sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.
But when I had a screen saying to update it wouldent let me and had errors so I decided to uninstall skype and reinstall.
I uninstalled Skype from control panel and it doesnt show up in program files.
Also searched whole computer for "Skype" And found 8 results and it wont let me delete those.
Now when I try to install Skype I keep getting 1603 Error code and I already tried using Microsoft fix it but it cannot find "Skype"
Any help would be greatly Aprreciated. Skype is the one way I call and talk to people.

Can I run Skype simultaneously on my laptop and an...

* I get better audio communication making Skype calls on my Android phone using a headset. The same headset I use for ordinary calls and listening to music.
* The text-messaging interface is better from the laptop
* Notification that a text message has been received is better from the laptop
Therefore, I want to simultaneously run Skype on both of them. I tried and found that it seemed to work for a while, but then the audio conversation began cuting out and in.
Is this just unsupported?
I would like to disable the audio (and video) on the laptop Skype - using it only for text messages.
Pick up or initiate calls from the android Skype.

Note that although Terence is right for the most part, you will find sites out there that claim to give instructions for getting Mac OS X to work on a PC. However, it's important to understand that this can only work if the hardware is very similar to a Mac's hardware, and even then you're going to end up with a crappy, quirky, crash-prone shadow of Mac OS X. (So, not much different than Windows! ) It's really not worth the trouble, and it's a violation of the license anyway.

All I have found is a port of a 'droid' app and only the chat feature works. You have to side load it into your PB.

Yup. I have looked high and low for a decent video chat option for cross platform chat and can find NOTHING. Imo does not work correctly on upgraded os2 andreelportal is really poor quality.
I love the PB. I love thesize, it's speed, it's UI, but I can't get over its software limitations. I'm going away in 3 weeks and need video chat. So ilooked at my options last couple of days and unfortunately iam now on the verge of selling pb and getting an android tablet..............and giving up my bb handset for a galaxy s2. the limitations of the pb has unfortunately highlighted the limitations of bb to me and unless things change inthenext few days with video chat options on pb, RIM have lost a loyal customers. Sad, but the way of the world.

I downloaded Skype for Android. The application dosen't show anywere. How can I start Skype?

It is indeed almost beyond belief that a company with the resources Microsoft has, has managed to release an app for production use which:
-Cannot be turned off (the point of your post). I'm seeing this as well. If I choose to "sign out", I will anyway be bothered with notifications and new messages again after about 10-15 minutes. It seems to run as a service in the background of the phone, and auto-signin if offline.
-Has the pretty much extremely serious bug of that the caller with some easy actions can lift the receiver on the called end, thereby enabling eavesdropping.
Even though these probably are unintentional "features", it's the kind of stuff you would expect to see in highly malicious spyware or viruses: sneaky application background persistence plus eavesdropping, not a funny mix. Very scary.
Skype android development team sure has work to do....

I downloaded the latest firefox so I could use the firefox app for my new Iphone. I only have Mac OS X 10.4.11 and the new firefox wont run on it. How can I contact Viber support? When I go to their website there's no such thing as 'email us' or 'contact us'.

You should first uninstall iTunes completely.
This is not an easy task!
