Cant save down from CS4 to CS3

I'm having issues with my Illustrator CS4. It's recently stopped saving files down to CS3. Says "Can't Save File" when I try to save it down to CS3.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I will find those things out as I am not the user. Only IT Support. Was just wondering if anyone
else has had this issue and could share there solution.
Another user can save down the same file to the same location without any issues. Don't know if this helps at all.
Quad Core machine running XP Pro. PDF compatibility enabled. Have not tried reinstallation. Cant save to network or computer.

  • Help on saving back from CS4 to CS3 with the crop mark issue.

I am not asking how to create crop marks I needing to know how to save back from CS4 to has already has been created in 3. See issue below.
I am the only one with CS4 in this office. I have to save back to CS3 for everyone else to read. When looking in the artboard, I can see the un-editable crop marks that were made in CS3, but when I work on the file and save it down, they can no longer call up the crop marks. Any clue as to were they might access what should be there?

These work great, thank you so much!
So long as I only work on new stuff, I guess it doesn't matter if I switch to CS3.  :-)   I'll turn down requests for major edits to long documents already done in CS4!
We have 2 feet of snow on the ground here and are expecting 10-20 more inches of snow starting around noon!  DC is basically shut down.  I live right in the middle of the District, and the roads are a mess here.  I can't imagine how bad the suburbs are.
    Thanks again!

  • How to save down from InDesign Creative Cloud version to CS5? Have exported as .idml file but still get messages that plug-ins are missing although CS5 confirms it is fully updated.

Yes. Thanks. I misled myself based on another post. Successfully did this by selecting "File," "Save a copy ..." then choosing "for CS4 or later (IDML)"
It required some patience and several tries, but I think that was due to hardware (memory) being overloaded by CC Cloud version or something. It was a 50 MB, 500-page file and took 17 minutes to convert/save,
Re-capping: from CCloud to CS5, don't use "Export" (to IDML); use "Save as" or "Save a copy" and select "for CS4 or later (IDML)".
    Advice much appreciated.

  • Cant save images from goggle to ipad  any more what am I doing wrong pls

CAnt save image from goggle to ipad any more keeps saying save image failed what am I doing wrong pls

If by "goggle" you mean the Google Chrome browser, then make sure its allowed to use the Camera Roll under Settings->Privacy->Photos, and make sure Chrome is turned on there.
If that's not it perhaps explaining in a bit more detail what you are doing, and what happens when you try to save a picture?

  • CS5 Save down to CS4/CS3 ??

how can we save down files from CS5 to CS4 ? clients are delivering projects on CS5 but we are licensed for CS4/CS3 only.
    Thanks.

Nope. Not at all. It has been this way for all versions of After Effects. If you have two versions open on the same machine, you can do a very limited copy and paste operation to get some elements across. That can be better than nothing in a pinch.
We have come close to implementing the ability to save backwards a few times, but it's a lot of work, and we haven't had enough interest expressed to quite justify the work. That's why I stress the feature requests especially in this case.

  • Going from CS4 to CS3

    Greetings,
Once you've created a composition in a CS4 version of a program such as After Effects, are you able to open the comp in the CS3 version?
I know this problem arises with Adobe Audition when going from Audition 3 to any prior version, and I'm looking to go back to CS3 from CS4 (far too many bugs and I'm finding it far too unstable)
    Thanks,
    Sarah

You can copy keyframes manually if you have both versions installed on the same computer:

  • Help converting files from CS4 to CS3

    Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has time to help me.  I live in Washington, DC and we're buried in snow up here (!), so I'm not able to go to work.  I can access my work files from home, but I only have ID CS3 at home (and CS4 at work).  I have 2 InDesign files that I really need to be able to work with in CS3.  Does anyone have time to save them to INX format for me?   I zipped them together into a file here:
    http://pjutter.com/CS4files.zip
I realize I'd lose some features, but it makes no difference.  One of those is just a template, and the other just has info I need in it.  If anyone can resave them for me, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Can't wait to get a new home computer...  Tried updating to CS4 on this one, but this machine's not up for it.
    Thanks, Phyllis

  • How can I save down from InDesign CS5 to Indesign CS2?

Is it possible to save a file from cs5 to cs2?
    Thank you

Yes, but only if you have CS4.  Be aware that it opens up a can of worms of potential problems but should be OK for less complex documents in one off cases.
To do it export an idml from CS5, open in CS4 and export a inx file.  Then go here and follow the instructions, or just do the same thing in CS3 if you have that.

  • Sending text from cs4 to cs3 - fonts and text not showing

Hi I am trying to send files of text (I am using CS4 illustrator) to somebody with CS3 illustrator. I save the files in CS3 format but the other person either can't open the file, the file is blank or missing parts of text. (The files usually contain a mix of fonts). When I send pictures these usually are ok.
I would be very grateful for an answer to this problem as it's holding me up for work.

How are you sending files? Via email? Are you "zipping" them first?
Does your file contain anything other than type, such as a placed raster image or an object with raster effects (glows, shadows) applied to it?
Have you opened the file again, after saving as a CS3 file to verify it's correct before you send it?

  • How to open INX from CS4 in CS3?

I have a file in CS4 that I saved as INX and it won't open in CS3. I get an error message that it is not a proper Interchange document. I have tried it from two different computers using CS4 with no success. Any ideas?

  • Converting back and forth from CS4 to CS3 inDesign

Hi I have a favorite designer who only has CS3 -- I am working in CS4. We are working on a 200page book design layout and cover togehter. What are the risks of going back and forth? We did a test from me to her CS4-CS3 via INX. She could open the file just fine. This is a relatively simple text book with some Jpeg diagrams. Can the formatiing start jumping around -- or is the problem more in new advanced features in CS4.
    thanks for any help Michael

Any of those scenarios will probably work. The reflow issue is that there are differences in the text engines between the versions.
When your designer opens your .inx file, the text is automatically recomposed and some line endings might change. This can cause the line count to change for a block of text and result in an overset situation or a new wido/orphan problem. Your designer wouldn't see your original line endings.
Conversely, when you open the CS3 file none of the text is recomposed until you start to edit, and then that story will recompose. You see the CS3 composition until you edit, or force a recompose using the Alt (Opt) + Ctrl (Cmd) + / Keyboard Shortcut, which is a recommended first step if you exchange files like this to avoid surprises late in the process.
The major points here are that sending files round trip is subject to text reflow which may or may not be critical (but you'll need to look at every page carefully to catch things like forced line breaks that no longer fall at appropriate locations and oversets or keeps problems) and you'll have to limit yourself to using only features supported in CS3 up to the point where it will remain in CS4 for finalization.

  • "error LNK2019: unresolved external sym..." after porting SDKFilehelper function from CS4 to CS3

The following code is running with Indesign CS4:
    #include "SDKFileHelper.h"
    SDKFileSaveChooser filesaveChooser;filesaveChooser.ShowDialog();
It doesn't compile with Indesign SDK CS3, i get a LNK2019 unresolved external symbol for every call of ::SDKFileHelper.
    Any suggestions?

Thank you very much, compiled successfully!

  • Lost Annimation - Save as Flash CS4 to CS3 - any recovery options?

My son and his friend have been working almost 24 hours
straight for a project for school. During the wee dark hours of the
night they added the motion bits to their annimation. The school is
using CS3, the only version we could buy was CS4. So they have
    saved their project as CS3.
Now they see a warning, "Motion Objects Will Be Lost." So all
the work they've put in is gone?!
Is there any way to retrieve their work?
They thought they were almost done, and now they are back to
several hours ago, when they started adding motion? There has to be
    a workaround.
    Tired, frustrated, and defeated

    Thanks!
Passing information along to my son, his friend, and their
    teacher.
    Hope it helps.

  • CS5 save down to cs4

    Hi there,
Is there any chance of saving down a indesign cs5 file to cs4 and keep the multi-size pages features?
When i open the idml file the sizes revert all to A4.
    Thanks

No. Any new features will be lost or mangled.

  • Cant save photo from email IPad 2 iOS 8.1.1

Suddenly there is no option to "save to camera roll" when you long press a photo in an email. What to do?

With a long tap you should see a screen that includes several choices, one of which is "Save Image." That choice will save the image to the Camera Roll. If you do not get the screen of choices I suggest quitting the Mail app and then reset your iPad. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. The reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
