Cant save file

"cant save file *.psd because write access was not granted" anybody knows how to solve this???

I have the same issue. When I save a file in a different format "as copy" and then try to save the original document I get all kinds of weirdness. Many times I have lost the layers of my .psd file because the Creative Cloud somehow gets confused and flattens the layers in my psd file just like the JPG or PDF that I saved it "Save As". When I go back to the PSD file later all of the layers are flattened. I know it is not user error because I get that weird "write access not granted" or sometimes "file path is not valid" and that makes me nervous so I save and double-save my work as PSD with the layers intact. Nonetheless they are later found to be gone.

I cant save files from Indesign CC

I instaled the New CC and now i can only save files directly to the desktop on my mac. If i try to put them in any folder they will not save and Indesign crashes. I am having the same issue with Photoshop & illustrator.

This doesn't sound like a known issue with InDesign and I cannot produce the issue on my end.
Have you tried resetting your InDesign preferences? If this doesn't work, how about launching the software under a new administrative user account?

As the issue persists cross products, something might've gone wrong during installation.

Illustrator CS3 - Cant export vector to photoshop + Cant save file with .ai extension

I try to copy a vector image over to photoshop (CS3) and I get an error message. I also try to save an Illustrator (CS3) image as an .AI file and I am not allowed to do so. This just started yesterday! How can I fix this?

Cant' save files on desktop or move to desktop

1. I can't save any file to desktop or move any file to desktop.
2. If I klick the Icon "Desktop" in the Finder-Window I get the Message "There is no default application specified to open the document “Desktop”." and the option "Choose Application".
Any ideas to solve the problem?

Opened "Get Info" and "locked" is not selected but ...
"Get Info" says the Desktop folder is not a "folder"! It's a "package" (General, Kind).
Is it possible to change from "Kind: package" to "Kind: folder"?

Cant save files unknown error box

I just loaded the cs3 illustrator trial version today, everything was going fine,but not for some reason it wont let me save anywork that i do on it.it comes up unknown error after the illustrator options box comes up.ive searched and havent found anything else on here about it.thanks for any help

Searched, really? This time search for "unknown error". There are plenty of threads related to this problem. Also search for "Zune", also a known problem for "unknown error".

Photoshop CS6.1 Cannot save file as .tif-program insists on .pdf

On Mac Pro using OS X attempt to save completed file as .tif. Photoshop insists on saving it as a .pdf. None of the format shown in "Format" field link up with actual extension.

Hi. I have used the PS CS6 trial and an Epson v500 scanner to scan a 6 by 4 image at 6400 dpi using File => Import => From image device. The file was saved as a pdf and opened automatically in CS6. I was satisfied with the image and wanted to save it as a something other than a pdf since pdf is not really a widely accepted image format for archiving. The image size came out to ~ 6 GB. I went to Save As and the only options I see from the save as format drop down box were PSD, TIFF, and PS Raw. I tried Tiff, but it told me it cant save files past 4 GB. IM not interested in the other 2 formats it allowed me to save as. Any ideas? Why cant I save as a JPEG or BMP when something ahs been scanned as a PDF?
As for plugins, I downloaded the official PS CS6 Mac plugins and placed them in the appropriate plugins folder.
Are there file size limitations with respect to saving a copy when you have opened a file as a pdf?
Its not that there is anything wrong with the pdf format, its just that I cannot use the scanner plugin for importing an image from PS6 to save as a Tiff or JPEG under 6400 dpi and 48 bpp settings (this problem was discussed ina nother thread).
Any ideas?

Video errors -- Cant open save files!

Im on Premiere Pro CS4 and I am having big problems with opening my files. Recently, I cloned my hard drives and reinstalled everything - premiere included. But now, when I try to open the save files, it does not allow me!I already done what it told me with the reimporting and "Where is file x" stage, but thats where the problem hits. When I go to import those original video files (all either .mpg or .mp4's), it always says it is damaged, unsupported or comes up with a "generic" error. Re-encoding does not even work (using MediaCoder for now to do the conversions), as it just says "file is unsupported", despite it being in the proper H.264 and .mp4 containers. I am however able to make it passed that screen, only to be greeted with "media offline" errors.
Is there any solution for this? I need it done by monday, and I fear il have to recreate a good 2 months work if I cant get this thing working.

Hello Again,
If anyone else is having this problem, on a hunch, I checked the metadata of the files I was importing.
I sort of knew what I would expect, some data about the file format and length, etc, but it turns out that the length value was missing.
In short, the metadata was corrupt. <--- Not a surprise, it was always before and after the clone, however, I guess from that time, Adobe decided to stop accepting that.
So, rather then replicating the problem by reencoding into the same file format (Thats what I done originally), I decided on a hunch to try a different format (In my case Xvid). And voila, opens.
So, in short again; Try using a different format if you get those errors, something may have gotten corrupted along the way.

Can i format the drive to ntfs - cant save large files

i bought the TimeCapsole Extreeme AC but i cant save large files - can i format the drives to NTFS??
is there any other soultion to this?

The thing is that in windows its a map drive that i can see the files but cant save large files(more then 4GB)
Ok.. I am rather shocked but of course the problem is entirely windows.. The drive is formatted HFS+ and a 3TB drive has no file size limitation other than the drive size.
Windows for some stupid reason when it maps drives has decided it must be FAT32 and applied that.
Get rid of the drive mapping.. !!
Try accessing it via network.. ie
\\TCIPaddress and see if you can get around the 4GB file size barrier. If not I will take another look at the problem.. although I have to say windows is windows..
It should see the TC as a NT Server and have no file size limitation at all.

Having the same problem. Click mail, it bounces, a quick flash, then nothing. Also as a side note, Entourage as of this morning will no longer send mail to either of my work accounts, that is why I was trying mail. Also tried several other mail programs and the same result, can receive mails, but not send.
Have reset the router, cable modem, checked that I have the latest MS and Apple software loaded and it is all good. Very strange.

Cant download or save file sometimes

When i try to download a file or save it, it starts to download normally till it finished and this pops up "www.xxxx.com could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.
Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location."
It always happen. I tried saving it into different places like on my desktop and in other drives but the same thing pops up. I really have no idea and this is interfering with work so please please i really need help.

This may be a problem with the %TEMP% folder.
Firefox immediately starts downloading the file to the temp folder and move the file after you have supplied the name and location to that folder.
It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
Do not forget to re-enable the scanning in your anti-virus software after you are finished with downloading and installing.

Cant save as AI but can as PDF

Using PC Windows XP Service Pack 3; CS5 Illustrator 15.1.0, 2gb Ram, 50gb Free HD space.
Opening an AI file sent from Japan, not sure of its PC or MAC (is there a way to find out).
All fonts are as outlines, images embedded.
After making a few simple changes (to the artboard, and turning off a layer with crops on) we find we then cant save the AI file, error along the lines of 'saving encountered a problem' we can replicate and post that error if needs be.
We are also trying to place a .PSD file whilst the original is in AI format, but we get memory errors, our Memory and available HD space all check out OK in Windows Task Manager as OK.
The workaround has been to save as a PDF, checking the 'Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities' in the Options dialogue - the file then saves and allows us to then work away as normal, saving at the end.
I also want to know if an 'Illustrator editable' PDF, with JPEG compression turned on for Images, do the images degrade (ie are read in, sampled and JPEG compressed) each time a PDF is opened and resaved.

1)Run the action called "Delete Unused Items"
2) Selct all, copy and paste into a new document
3) save as with PDF compatible off
Whether the image degrades depends on the settings of the PDF. Obviously if you go form high to low quality, they will degrade. Even if you save with the same compression level the image degrades.That amount is very small at max quality and you won't even notice the difference. Do for example 50 saves at low quality and you will notice a difference in images between original and final. The amount depends on resolution and type of image also play into the amount of loss (Hairlines - vs- fields of color, edges). A soft cloudy sky for exampel does not degrades as much as a shot of the golden gate bridge.
