  • Color Separations Problem in Acrobat 8/9 Pro

    We recently discovered a color separation problem in Acrobat 8 Pro and 9 Pro. In version 7 Pro we could select and thus include 'empty' color sep pages. Now when we select seps of the all the available colors, seps are produced only for those colors actually used in the job. This is true of pre-separated and in-rip seps. Can anyone shine some light on this 'change'? Thanks!

    We are able to reproduce color saturation problem at our end. We have noted down and will work on this.
    Thanks.

  • While in Indesign CC 2014 i am unable to perform a color separation to Acrobat DC 2014

    While in Indesign CC 2014 i am unable to perform a color separation to Acrobat DC 2014. Is there a fix to this?

    You can export using one of the PDF/X presets from InDesign and then print separations from Acrobat DC via Print>Advanced>Color>Separations.

  • Indesign CC 2014 color separation to Acrobat DC 2014

    I have Adobe Acrobat DC 2014, and i am unable to perform a color separation from Indesign CC 2014 to Acrobate DC 2014. Is there a way to fix this? I was able to do it for Acrobat X Pro.

    What are you actually trying to do?
    Create pre-separated PDF? Such workflows are not supported by Adobe products — in particular exporting PDF directly from InDesign or saving PDF directly from either Illustrator or Photoshop — and are not recognized by the industry as a best practice workflow since it requires preflattening all transparency and creating totally device-dependent (in terms of color and transparency flattening parameters) PDF.
    If you are actually trying to do is print a full process color PDF file to separations (PostScript) from Acrobat, nothing has changed from Acrobat X to XI to DC. That aspect of the product is still the same.

  • What shows in color separations is not what prints

    I have a document originally created in InDesign CS3 with text in a 100%K black, not rich black. When printed directly from InDesign, text prints with only black ink.
    When I export to PDF, with black settings to output accurately (not rich black), the Acrobat 8 Professional color separations only show this text on the black separation, as is to be expected. However, when printed, the text is rich black with all CMYK ink tones present.
    I am printing to a Konica 7830dxn PostScript printer, but since the document prints fine to this printer directly from InDesign, I don't see it as causing the problem.
    What is going on? Other users have also had issues with this coming from InDesign, but I'm pretty sure it's an Acrobat problem, not an InDesign problem. I'm quite open to being proven wrong, of course.

    Well, I've tried just about all the options available. The printer driver gives me five options for color management - I've tried "Konica Color Matching," "PostScript Color Matching," and "No Color Matching," to no avail.
    "Print in Grayscale" wouldn't work for the color images in my document, and it won't let me pick "Use ICC Profile."
    I don't understand why it changes when it goes to Acrobat. Printing from InDesign with the default "Konica Color Matching" works fine. I'm stuck.

  • InDesign / Color Separations / BW Laser printer

    In the past, I have always used an old HP Laserjet 4MV/PS for our spot color separations from Pagemaker. Most InDesign (CS2 & CS3 / PC) files are too big for it to handle, so we create pdfs and output that way. The 4MV has now died and we want something that outputs a better quality dot pattern and separations to paper for grayscales/shading. I don't need high volume, but do need at least 11 X 17 and only need it to output black. What printer will handle large graphic files and provide a good dot pattern?

    The printer in question, the Brother HL-4570CDW, is a fairly inexpensive SOHO laser printer typically used to print “office” documents. As such, it doesn't offer direct options either on the front panel or via the driver to match typical commercial print conditions such as SWOP. Most content sent to such a device is sent as RGB from printer drivers.
    (For your convenience, I have attached a copy of both the specification sheet and the manual for this device!)
    Some ideas:
    (1)  Don't expect reasonable CMYK colors if you are using what Brother describes as the “Windows(r) printer driver (the most suitable printer driver for this product)” and what is apparently installed by default (see page 26 of manual). It invokes an emulation of HP PCL5C, pure RGB, which is a real problem from InDesign. Install their “BR-Script printer driver” and turn off the option for RGB vivid color and try that instead. BR-Script is Brother's emulation of PostScript 3 - definitely not Adobe PostScript 3, but it possibly will give you better results than their emulation of PCL5C!
    (2)  Assuming you are printing BR-Script and the colors are still very problematic, try recalibrating the printer via the printer's front panel. See page 82 of their manual!
    (3)  Export PDF as PDF/X-4 and try printing the PDF/X-4 file from Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader, again using the BR-Script driver. This might improve things.
    If you still can't get decent color and the printer is still “new,” I'd try to return the unit as defective. You can get much better printers for comparable prices from Xerox that have Adobe PostScript 3 and have reasonably good color. Otherwise, if still under warranty, I'd contact Brother and see if they have solutions other than blaming Adobe somehow!

    PS: This isn't the first report I've heard of serious problems with Brother CloneScript devices.

  • How do I save color separations to a larger size than my printer will allow?

    I have an Illustrator file from which I'm trying to produce color separations. What I want is a PDF with each separation on its own page, but it looks like you can't export separations to PDF directly, so I'll probably export to PostScript and use Distiller to produce my PDF. I only have an 8.5"x11" printer, but I want the separations to export at 15"x16" to be printed elsewhere. But Illustrator won't let me unless I have a PPD installed for a printer that can print to that size. That seems dumb... I have no idea what printer will be used to print them, and I have no idea what model printer can print that large. So what should I do? Can someone point me to a PPD that will allow me to export to 15"x16"? Or is there another way?

    I just tried a quick test using save as pdf and according to the print dialog box in acrobat that spot colors are there. Perhaps you are using one of the presets that converts colors.
    In the save as pdf options dialog box look at the output section for color conversion and see if it is set to no conversion. some of the standards change this setting.

  • Color Separations in InDesign and Illustrator

    I am trying to print spot color separations. In both InDesign and Illustrator the "separations" is gray. I can only print RGB and grayscale.
    My colors are set up as spot. I even tried to print from Acrobat and "separations" is gray there also. Do I need to re-install my drivers or the programs.
    I am trying to print to postscript printers but neither one lets me select separations.
    I am using CS3
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Professional
    Version 2002
    Service Pack 2
    Intel(R) Core (TM)2CPU
    6600 @ 2.40 GHz

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    I’m not familiar with those models. Are the PostSCript compatible? If so, then you should get the most recent drivers from the manufacturers’ websites. It’s been ages since I needed to worry about printer drivers in Windows, but maybe you need a PostScript printer utility or printer driver from Adobe, too.

  • Exporting to pdf with page marks and color separations

    Hi All.,
    I have a requirement to export the current document as PDF file. I am using the export provider with the service registry to export the document as pdf file. The code works successfully. Now I have a requirement where I need to save the pdf with color separations and page marks. First I need some information on what does page marks and color separations actually mean for a pdf file. And second I need to know how this could be achieved. Do I have to set some preferences? I have tried setting preference for color , bleed and it works. But I am not sure whether this satisfies the requirement. I would be thankful if someone would suggest me on the same.
    Thanks in Advance
    Vishnu

    Hi,
    In my experienced it cant, you can export it to pdf but you dont have the ability to make it fillable, unless doing it manually, from the exported pdf, install an Adobe Professional software to have capability to save data's.

  • Cant see jtable column headers

    I have my jtable in a container and i am displaying that container in a jframe. I cant see the table column headers. I cant use a jscrollpane and need to make the table headers visible. I can see the table fine with all its information in it. When I do a System.out.println(TableModel.getColumnName(int)); i get the correct column header name so I know that the column headers are existing. I would appreciate any help that you can give

    the last answer did not help me out. I reposted this with more information, such as i am placing my table in a container and not in a scrollpane. I added the code below and it still did not work
    content.add(jt.getTableHeader(), BorderLayout.NORTH);
    content.add(jt, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    I can still only see the table. I pasted code below where I create my table and repaint it. I have it set up where my table is in a JPanel. I have is set up so that I can move it around and resize it with the mouse. This all works and I can see the table but there are no headers.
    public FigTable(DefaultTableModel inTableModel, LEditor inLEditor)
              super(50, 50, 350, 200);
              setLineColor(Color.blue);
              setFillColor(ColorMenu.kColorOfNoFill);
              fEditor = inLEditor;
              content = fEditor.getGEFPanel().getDrawingPanel();
              importTable(inTableModel);
              fEditor.init();
              fEditor.inval();
    public void importTable(DefaultTableModel inTableModel)
              jt = new JTable(inTableModel);
              tRows = jt.getRowCount();
              tColumns = jt.getColumnCount();
              content.add(jt, BorderLayout.CENTER);
              content.add(jt.getTableHeader(), BorderLayout.NORTH);
    public void paint(Graphics g)
              jt.setBounds(_x, y, w, _h);
              if (_h >= tRows && tRows != 0)
              jt.setRowHeight(_h / tRows);
              if (isSelected())
                   drawHandles(g);
              if (_filled && (getFillColor() != null))
                   jt.setBackground(getFillColor());
              if (getLineColor() != null)
                   jt.setGridColor(getLineColor());
                   jt.setBorder(BorderFactory.createLineBorder(getLineColor()));
         }

  • I cant see what I just saved.

    I am saving scanned documents to a pdf file and I wanted to verify I had them right but I when I call them up I cant see them - all I get is a gray screen.  They will print out okay.  Any help? I am running Acrobat Adobe Reader 10.

  • PDF optimizer... can't see color option

    i have some pdf documents that i want to convert to grayscale.
    these files contain multiple rotated masked objects and when converted, the maskings are released.
    i tried couple things.
    - Advanced/Convert Colors...
    - Advanced/Preflight/PDF fixups...
    didn't have much luck with it.
    so i wonder if i can use Advanced/Optimizer...
    but i don't see color option.
    how can i turn on color option?
    or does anyone know how to convert a pdf to grayscale without messing up the maskins?
    thanks in advance.
    fyi. I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and in Advanced/PDF optimizer

    if you can export your autoCAD drawings as a pdf, open pdf in acrobat pro 8 and try
    Advanced/Print Production/Convert Colors...
    Action - Convert
    Profile - Gray Gamma 2.2 or other grayscale profile
    Blending Profile - Leave Unchanged
    Conversion Options - Don't Embed Profile *
    * for some reason, if you embed profile, it won't convert to grayscale. you can check at advanced/print production/output printview by checking off black ink.
    hope this helps.

  • Color Separations

    Hi there,
    I know this topic has been visited several times by others but I am having a hard time finding them through the forum searches.
    I am trying to print color separations for screen print through cs5 (previously I was using cs2)  I have Acrobat 9 (it came with the premium design pack) and I cannot get the print pdf option to appear in the print dialogue box from illustrator.  I need a multipage color separation document for my work.  I am on a deadline and any help would be great.  I am on a Macintosh O.S 10.6.4
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Also if you could tell me how to splice out the colors in acrobat I would still really appreciate it.
    thanks!

    You can still do it the old way but there is a little trick to it. Instead of using Acrobat as the Printer fro the drop down select Adobe Postscript as the printer and use generic post script printer as the profile.
    Then Host Based Separation will do find save it to a director.
    Now Distill the .ps and you'l end up with your separated pdf.

  • Cant see the page links text in my main & side navigation bars

    Hi
    I published my site to Mme yesterday and I have noticed a few problems have come up. The main problem is my main and side navigation bars. In the top nav bar you cant see all the page links text, they should show up in white. I can only see them when you roll over the page name (this is in grey) and that is the rollover colour. Not sure what to do to get the text colour to stay white all the time so it is always seen once it's been clicked. It just disappears, but is still there if you roll over it
    My side nav bar, the text should also all be white and when you roll over it turns red. For some reason when you click on the page link it turns grey and stays grey. I also want the page links to stay white once clicked on

    Please check out my site, you would understand my situation better. I know there are other issues I have to sort out on my site which I am dealing with but this problem with the nav bars have stumped me
    Thanks

    I didn't notice anything unusual with any of your links. Their color is set with this file:
