Cant see iphone settings in Itunes

This just started happening today after a restore on my iphone. My iphone shows up in itunes but when i click the device it does nothing, so i cant add applications or do anything and the only way to add music is to drop it on the phone icon.
Any ideas?
I have tried restoring the phone again (by going in recovery mode) and re-installing itunes with no luck!

Alright after messing around with it for a bit i turned on my Windows XP computer to try on that since OSX and Vista were not working for me. I updated itunes and was promoted with "set up as new phone" and "restore from back up"! I set up as new phone and now its working great on my Mac again!

You have to create a ringtones. Google will find several ways to do this.
I use Garageband.

I had same issue. I flollowed http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 and the actual part that fixed it for me was step 5. Once I finally found it under DEVICES under "portable devices" the connected type of device was only listed as "Apple Iphone" and nothing was listed under the Universal Serial bus Controllers. After I followed the directions to install the proper mobile device driver then Itunes was able to see my phone. My PC then also has the correct device listed under the Universal Serial bus Controllers.
It is not enough that your connected device says "Apple Iphone" ... so read into the directions step by step for your OS. I think this is the fix for most new connection issues seen with Itunes 11.1.5! Nice bench testing Apple.

Cant see iphone in itunes after the most resent itunes update

After updating itunes I downloaded the new iphone IOS. After connecting my phone, an error msg could not update iphone. Now my phone has the connect to itunes screen and will not come off regardless of what i do. I cant see it on the computer or itunes now. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and a number of other things on the apple website, no joy. To me it sounds like a software problem to me, but i dont know. Does anybody have ANYTHING else?

I had the same problem yesterday and called Apple Support and was walked through uninstalling iTunes (I had just gotten the latest update to it) and reinstalling it. My computer (Windows Vista) did not recognize the phone and would not sync. I powered down my computer, took it home, powered it up and plugged in my iPhone 4 with a different sync cable and it worked. The computer found an Apple driver that it couldn't find with the other cable. The defective cable will still charge my iPhone 4, but it will not sync. I have used that same cable since October, and it is the original shipped with the product. Go figure. I have not yet updated to iOS 4.3 and am going to wait a bit.

first of all, no one is going to respond to this becuase limewire is used basically in your situation illegally. But let's say you import a cd, left click on the songs you imported and hit get album artwork, if nothing comes up, the album sn't in the itunes database, get it online. And I suggest never to mention limewire and music files on the same post here, since limewire is a file sharing program. Use Itunes, it's easier. theo

try the following:
1. I assume your ipod is in windows format
2. get Senuti - http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/ this software can copy songs from an ipod back onto a computer. It doesn't matter which format the ipod is
3. follow the instructions on Senuti. To copy the songs over to you computer just select all of them in Senute and press the green "transfer" arrow.
4. I have done this 2 days ago and it works perfectly
5. After all the formating don't forget to reformat the ipod to macformat in case you want to use it with this machine

Can't see iPhone playlist on iTunes

I manually drag and drop songs onto my iPhone; however when I click on the iPhone icon in iTunes it just shows my entire song library and will not let me see the playlist on my phone. I know the songs are on my phone.
When I went to sync up the iPhone with my computer I did get the "unable to load data class information from Sync Services" error message.
Any thoughts on how to correct this issue?

Cant see iphone music when connected to itunes.

There is music stored on my phone and I would like to change it. Usually I can do this by connecting it to ituens and deleting it all and then refilling it. Now it is showing in iTunes as having no music even though there is and it can be played from the phone. Why is this all so badly designed and unreliable? Sometimes the phone is shown as having a large amount of free space (the music portion) and sometimes it is shown as full. Its anyone's guess, but the music cannot be seen. Does anyone know how to get this irritating phone to work, and why it is so unpredictable?

To be able to sync the music from your iPhone or download any purchased music you purchased on your iPhone via your Mac?

All music is purchased through iTunes. You could try the version of iTunes you have now on your Mac to see if any of your newly purchased music and iOS Apps can be downloaded to you Mac, but you will NOT be able to sync your iPhone at all to get any data or info off of if into iTunes
One way to get pictures off of your iPhone is to email them to yourself and/or try to find a cloud service, like DropBox, that will still be compatible with your version of OS X and a version that is on the App Store for iOS and use this from your iPhone to get info to your Mac.The Mac version has to work with OS X 10.5 Leopard to be able to work back and forth between your iPhone and Mac.
You will have Google for this as I have no idea if there are any cloud services available that will work with a Mac running OS X 10.5.8 Leopard.
This OS X version is very old and many developers have abandoned support for this OS X version.
No newer versions of OS X will not work or be downloadable as these only work with newer Intel CPU Macs and all version of OS X from OS X 10.7 Lion and forward are download only, now, from the Mac Apps Store which is only available from Mac OS X 10.6.7 Snow Leopard onward and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is for newer Intel Macs and WILL NOT work on older PowerPC Macs like yours.
Other than the alternatives I gave you, a new or newer (used) Intel Mac are your only options.
Your Mac is just too old ( almost 10 years old).

Another option if you don’t have anything else important on your phone is you could sync your contact with yahoo or Gmail and then restore the iPhone plugged into just power. Once your restore complete you should have more space available. Normally you should be able to connect to iTunes to see if it recognize/update at this point.

Can't see iPhone 5 in iTunes 11

I have tried rebooting the phone and the computer, reinstalling iTunes, 3 different USB posrts... for some reason my iPhone stopped being recognized by iTunes. What can I do about this? Just found this - I undertand now. So having dowloaded tunes onto my iPod touch version 4 - and synching. I have no way of re-downloading them in the UK! My IPodtouch developed an error and needed to be re-initialised and I thought that synching would have kept copies on the PC. No it didn't - I should have backed them up - Drat!!!!!! Back to the mercy of the iTunes Store Customer Service I suppose.

If you didn't make a back-up of your music/movie purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Products may only be downloaded once; after being downloaded, they cannot be replaced if lost for any reason. Once a Product is purchased or rented (as applicable) and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage" iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
If you have an iPod that still has any of your purchases on it you'll find details in this article on how to transfer them to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
Failing this, you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so.
