Cant seem to be able to get 802.1x working
Hi,
I have an ESW 520 switch, and one of the reasons I bought this switch is so that I could have some piece of mind about what computers are plugged into the wired network.
I was hoping to be able to manage this on the ESW 520, however configuring the thing is the most complicated process I have ever seen.
I've created a mac based ACL, but when I try to bind the acl to a port, I get an error dialog box saying..
"It is impossible to bind Policy and ACL to the same ingress interface."

First make sure that you remove Smart Port Roles from the switch port. Once it is removed try to apply the ACL or just configure port security which is easier so long as the client you want to allow is already connected. Try that, if still you get errors post again with your running config.

However <s>Firefox is obviously working, and </s>it does no harm to have more than one browser on a computer. In fact it can be a distinct advantage. For instance it allows you to use the alternative browser if the primary one has a fault.
Maybe what you are in fact trying to do is to set Internet Explorer (IE) as the default browser again, so that for instance the IE icons appear on some files and links. You can do that from IE

I cant seem to be able to update to iOS 6.1 through my PC for my iPhone 5...The error reads: 'There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone 'Thomas Honiball'. You do not have permission to access the requested resource".... please help!!
Only developer's have access to iOS 6 now. Thus, if you are a developer you have have access to the developer's forum for iOS 6.

my apple id email address is no longer valid. my current email address is recognised as my rescue email...i need to cancel old, change my current and add a new recue email...cant seem to be able too
How are you trying to do it ? You can change the rescue email address on your account by, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 :
Navigate to appleid.apple.com using your web browser.
Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.
Once you've finished editing your rescue email address, click the Save button directly below the email field.
You can then try using your current rescue email address as your primary email address - you may need to log out of that page and back in. Or you can then try changing the primary email address via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes
If you have an iPhone, iPad and/or iPod Touch you may then need to log out of your account on them by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store and log back in for the account to be 'refreshed' on it. -
HT5731 I cant seem to be able to download any songs
Ive tried uninstalling itunes and re installing it. Ive reset my password and i still cant seem to download any songs. all i keep getting is to re enter my password over and over again
Ive just tried again to reset my password and i then logged and and out and it keeps asking me to confirm my password for verfication then i do that then it asks again to review billing information and then it keeps asking for billing information

i had to reset my pc cos there was a virus in it. i downloaded itunes and downloaded all my purchases and synced my iphone back in and had to put all my cds back in and everything. but i cant seem to find where the ringtone i bought it. it worked fine before i synced my iphone back into the new virus free computer. i can see it in the ringtones tab but its grey and i cant access it. can somebody help please?
Unless you saved them somewhere you need to download and pay again. There is currently no way to just get them again. You can create your own ringtones

After a virus, I had to have my computer "wiped". I cannot seem able to get my music back to my computer from my iPod touch. Help please
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?
The ipod is not a storage/backup device. It simply mirrors the selected content of your computer. The sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You may be able to purchase 3rd party software to extract other content ( not supported by Apple). -
I was able to get mail working again, but when it rebuilt everything, I essentially lost all of my archived messages in my folders. Is there a way to get this back while still staying on Lion? The only answers I've seen are taking mail back down to Snow Leopard.
If the answer to the first question is no, is there a way to downgrade the OS back to Snow Leopard and then I could (hopefully) restore from my Time Machine back-up?What do you mean you "essentially" lost all archived messages? What exactly happened?
You can try restoring specific mailboxes/messages from your Time Machine backups. -
I cant seem to be able to change my old icloud email address to a new email address
Can anyone help or is it really not possible?
Also is there any reason that when I have changed my Apple ID the old ID keeps coming up in iCloud with the request for the old password..which I can't even begin to remember!! When I follow the instructions to retrieve password I get a fault message and can go no further? Frustrating.You can't change the @me.com address you created when you opened the account (or if you were a migratee from MobileMe the address you sign in with).
You can create up to three 'email aliases' which are additional addresses, not accounts, which deliver into the same inbox as the main address. Please see

Some people are reporting being currently unable to create aliases. This seems to be because of the rollout of @icloud.com addresses - until your account is updated to use this version of your address (if it hasn't been already) you won't be able to create aliases. The aliases will be @icloud.com versions. -
Since updating to the 5.2 version on my apple TV I no longer seem to be able to get movies???Help...

I have Apple TV 2, upgraded to the current software and ever since doing that I'm no longer able to open any trailers or movies. If I click on a movie title it just takes me to a blank screen where the little "thinking" circle spins around for a bit then just boots me back to the main movie menu. I'm lost and confused as I have never really had any problems with this device. I have tried rebooting it, both through the settings and also by unplugging the cord without any luck...Any ideas on how I might fix this would be greatly appreciated? Oh and everything else seems to work fine, youtube, home sharing, airplay etc...
ThanksHi - I had the exact same problem with two my Apple TVs ever since the latest update. The same solution worked for both. I had to reset all of the settings back to factory settings, so that I started with the choice of languages. A simple restart didn't work. After a complete reset, the movies menu worked normally again. You will find the reset options at the bottom of the General tab in Settings.
As an aside (in case someone from Apple reads these posts) it is HIGH TIME that Apple TVs pair with Bluetooth keyboards. It is now much easier to re-enter the 5 accounts I have on Apple TV (iTunes, NetFlix, etc) with a keyboard instead of using the Apple remote. Obviously the Apple TVs have had Bluetooth radios in them for some time, but only lately have the devices been able to pair. The Apple TV is more useful now. Perhaps it wouldn't be such a small niche product had Apple made that simple feature available years ago. So much for my PSA... -
A mid 2010 Mac Pro, trying to get 5.1 surround out of the onboard sound software using fiber optic out connected to a Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker sys. with fiber optic in and out, all I get is stereo and simulated 5.1 sound out of the speakers. In utilities, Audio Midi Setup I can't get the Mac to see the Logitech speakers for 5.1 speaker configuration. Without being made to feel like a dummy, does anyone have a solution? Thanks, Carl
Hello John, I figured it was a signal issue. All the speakers fire and the sound is great. I was running the speakers thru a Dell PC with a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, THX Certified, 7.1 soundcard using a fiber optic from the Mac Pro to the Z906's, it worked great until the Dell died!!! When I bought the soundcard from Creative I also bought the GigaWorks S750, THX Certified, 700 watt, 7.1 speaker system, used the speakers for 11 years and then the woofer/amp said "I QUIT" Creative quit making the speaker system and the sound card. The satellite speakers from the Creative GigaWorks speaker system still sound great (rated at 78 watt each) and are a little better speaker than the one's that came with the Z906 and the wattage from the 906 is sufficient to drive the satellites without any distortion. Thank you for addressing my issue, you confirmed what I suspected all along, just needed to hear it from someone with the same setup.
One last question, I purchased a Diamond Multimedia USB Soundcard, can't use the fiber optic(not supported by Mac) but the green, tan and black RCA's plug in and produces adequetly. When you plug your 906's into the Mac Pro using the fiber optic how do you set your speaker configuration? When I plug into the mac pro with fiber optic the 'Audio Midi Setup' does not seem to see the 5.1 configuration. Any thoughts there?

Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account. For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud). -

Do you mean old version cannot be removed? What are your specifics? Which version of iTunes do you have now? Did you try to remove iTunes via Control Panel/Add Remove Programs?

I cant seem to be able to load 3.6 and when i email it sends a whole list of my contacts
when I try to load firefox 3.6 it doesnt seem to load and when I email my friend it is sending him a list of all my contacts instead of the message
This may work for you. I had to do it to mine after I did a general reset. Plug the phone into your computer and open itunes like normal. after it shows the phone in itunes hold the power button and the home button at the same time until the slide to power off comes up. continue holding the two until the screen goes dark then release the power button only until a pop up message comes up on itunes asking if you want to restore the phone. Release the home button at that point. Say yes and it will restore the phone. After the restore is done you may need to unplug and close out of itunes then reopen itunes, plug your phone back in and it should ask you if you want to restore the phone or start as a new phone. I restored mine and it works perfect now.
