CANT SEND MAIL ON MY OLD MAC SINCE ICLOUD TOOK OVER

my mac.com account is being rejected by the server
Did the out going mail info change due to icloud

My User name is my name but as one word with @mac.com on the end of it.
If I go to icloud to login it is the same it is [email protected] or I can use [email protected] either work but that is my user name. In the account setup User name section I removed the @mac.com and just used the myname part. Which is what I have always used.
My password is correct as I currently have a newer mac running with lion and its the same password in that.
I will send a few more tests but I have doubled checked all the details like user name and password and they are correct.
I will send a few more emails to see if any get through. They are going to my newer mac just not appearing in the inbox of my old.
Lastly I also have to verify when sending some emails - why is this?
And also I have another pop account set up for another email account that I run through mail which whenever I start up mail a message appears saying unable to verify SSL server mail.***********.com  it then goes onto say something about a certificate issue. Would this also be linked with the move to icloud as it does not happen on my newer mac?

  • Can receive, but cant send mail

Any ideas? I can receive but cant send mail. It says..
The SMTP server “mailhost.zen.co.uk” rejected the password for user
    Have mail version 4.4
    Many thanks

    Hi,
I would double check your settings and port numbers.
Incoming Mail (pop3) server mailhost.zen.co.uk and port for Incoming mail (POP3) is 995
Outgoing Mail (smtp) server mailhost.zen.co.uk and port for Outgoing mail (SMTP) is 587

Also make sure under SMTP that the outgoing server requires as secure connection (SSL) box is checked as well as the incoming POP3 (SSL) box.
Can you say if this is a recent issue or one that has been there since setup?

  • Cant send mails with mountain lion

cant send mails with mountain lion, but i can recive....

Hi, i am having the same problem. this is what i have noticed.
    I have 2 x imac's and 2 x macbook air's
i upgraded the 2 macbook air's and 1 of the imac's to Mountain Lion, all these have problems acessing sites that require you to login .
the one remaining imac is still running lion and works perfect.
i am using a dlink router with DD-WRT firmware, i tested teathering from my iphone and i can log into websites fine using the newly upgraded mac's.
It's not a wireless issue as my imac is using an ethernet connection.
is there a compatibility issue with some routers.

I have set the mailbox settings correctly. While my gmail account works fine to send mails. Mails are sent instantly. Is anyone else going thru this trouble? And I Cant set up the Ovi mail mailbox. It keeps telling me "unable to sign in" How shall I solve this problem?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, it works fine if you use Nokia messaging service. If you use the standard mailbox it has been failing. I have some reservations about Nokia messaging service and thats why I dont want to use it.

  • Are there critical or security updates for Macromedia Dreamweaver since Adobe took over?

Are there critical or security updates for Macromedia Dreamweaver Flash and Macromedia suite since Adobe took over? I can still use it but I am worried about security issues.

I have a new computer with Windows 7 and I thought of installing my old Macromedia Dreamweaver and using it to update my web site. However I don't know if I can still use it with Windows 7 and with no critical updates I am wondering what would happen.
Or if I reformat my old Windows XP computer  and reinstall Macromedia Dreamweaver, would it be okay, or safe, security wise? Thanks.
What sort of security are you worried about?  DW creates plain text files and they are as safe as any other text files you create with Notepad or Wordpad.
How old is your DW?  I personally thing#k that it is time for you to get a new version so that you can create websites based on modern standards that are compatible with modern browsers.
Amazon should be able to sell you the product at a very competitive price.
    Good luck.

  • Cant send mail..very annoying

I have 2 e-mail accounts set up on my mac that I synced over to my touch but neither will send e-mail. One is a Virgin [UK] account and one my work e-mail. Any suggestions? They both work fine on my mac just not the touch and nothing has been changed.cheers

still cant send from my work e-mail account which is annoying as this is why I bought the thing!
It tries to send with the bar at the bottom going half way but then says "connection to the server was lost" so irritating!

  • Can't send mail from outlook for mac

I have a desktop mac with OS X 10.8.3 operating system. I recently upgrade to Mountain Lion.
I use Outlook Office for mac 2011 to receive/send emails. For the last four days I haven't been able to send mail, only receive. Whenever I try to send an email I get the following error message
"Cannot send mail. The SMTP server does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Outlook. Try changing the SMTP authentication options in Account settings or contact your network administrator"
Why is this happening and what do I do to change the settings?

It's your password mate. Something to do MS Office & the way it handles passwords.
I had to change my password & exclude the _ (underscore) symbol which I used in my original password.
Funny part is that I could still log in with my previous password on all my iDevices (iPhone & iPad) however MS Office was the only program that was giving me the above error.
I think it may have something to do with the latest update they just released.

  • Can't send mail using webmail on Mac OS X Server 10.4

Could someone help me figure out why I can't send email via webmail on Mac Mac OS X Server 10.4. I tried in and out of my LAN but it will not work. I am pretty sure that it's no firewall issue because it won't even work inside the LAN. Another thing I have considered is DNS issues. But my SMTP and POP3 works fine. Don't they use same DNS mail exchange record. Or should I ask my ISP to create a new record for webmail?

  • Imported mail library from old Mac to new one ... how to ...

I imported my "mail" and "mail downloads" folders from my old mac's library to my new one ... all my messages are still in there, but im just wondering on how to make them show up in my new mail
    Thanks for any help

You talk about “importing”, but it looks like what you really did was just copying those folders. Also, it looks like you copied the folder where the messages are stored, but not the file where the account settings are stored...
Mail stores most preferences and all account settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (except the passwords, which are stored in the keychain). Everything else, including all your messages and mailboxes, is stored within the ~/Library/Mail/ folder.
If both computers are running the same major version of Mac OS X, copying these (the preferences file and the entire Mail folder) from one computer to the other is all you need to do in order to have an exact copy of all your messages, mailboxes and Mail settings on both computers.
Similarly, Address Book (which you may want to transfer as well) stores the settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist and the data in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/.
In order to avoid potential permissions issues, copy the files operating on the destination computer and while logged in as the user that’s going to use them. Also, be sure the affected applications aren’t running on either computer while doing that.
Alternatively, you may use Migration Assistant:
Transferring data with Setup Assistant / Migration Assistant FAQ
BTW, there is no point in transferring the ~/Library/Mail Downloads folder. The files that Mail puts there are just temporal copies to let you open the attachments in other applications without having to manually save them first. Unless you’ve modified any of those attachments after opening them and haven’t saved them elsewhere, there is nothing in that folder that needs to be preserved. The attachments themselves are kept as part of the messages.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Cant send mail using hotspot

Hi.  I have started using my iPhone 4S as a WiFi hotspot for my MBP when on the road.  Mail collects from all my accounts ok but I cant send any mails from my MBP thru the Hotspot connection.  I dont get any error message, just the spinning icon next to the sent mailbox and no info in the activity window.  Any ideas welcome.  thanks

Are you sending mail using a Broadband provider account?
For instance, Virgin Media Mail can only be send through the Virgin Media Sever when you are actually connected to your Virgin Media line (at home)
An attempt to send mail using the outgoiong server smtp.virgin.com will be blocked if it isn't coming down one of their own lines.
To cure it, you'll need to add a different smtp server to our mail account that can be used while youo're out an about. Normally this would be the smtp server that your phone company gives you i.e smtp.orange.co.uk or whatever.
