Cant send/recieve email from iPhone on wifi - 3G works fine

I cant send or recieve email on my iPhone / iPad when on WIFI - when I turn off WIFI, it all works fine on 3G. I tried to delete my exchange-account, and then both gmail accounts works fine on wifi. Any thoughts?
...or rather; I think maybe it sends/recieves, but it takes a very long time.

Make sure that your router is setup to not block any ports.
as well check with your ISP to ensure those servers are not blocked.
you shouln't have any issues with receiving mail. the outgoing would be the only issue you should be having.
make sure you add an alternate SMTP server (using your ISP's server) to send email when on wifi

You need a third party app to do that. Look at Mail Shot or Group Email in the app store. You cannot do it with the built in mail app and the contacts app in iOS 5 without a third party app.

  • Cant send an email from iPhone 5

Ever since I got my iPhone 5,I have been unable to send an email.
I just get a message to say
"The connection to the outgoing server smtp.hotmail.co.uk failed.  Additional Outgoing Mail Server can be configered in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars."
I have tried everything to connect the phone to my hotmail.co.uk account, but I am having no luck.
The settings are exactly the same as what was on my iPhone 4, so I don't understand what the problem is.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Can not send any email from IPhone 5, I get......A copy has been placed in
your Outbox. The sender address "jvcrews@" has been rejected
    by the server.

I have the same problem, but I can send and receive e-mails from my home base.  When out of the range of my home I get this message: "

  • I cant send/recieve email by wi-fi, but I have Web Access by Safari.

    I have a Iphone 4.
I desable the Data Package from my Cel Phone.
I am using just WI-FI connection.
My Web access is perfect using Safari, iMessage and Whatsapp...but, I cant send/recieved my YAHOO mails using just Wi-Fi connection.
    What could be happining?
    Tks,
    Sandro.

It could be possible the email client you have does not work on that wi-fi network. In other words, if it is not connected to their network, you cannot send, however you should have no trouble receiving. I suggest deleting the accounts from the phone and re-entering them. Do it while you are connected to wi-fi which will give it the chance to verify. If it verifies, you should have no trouble.

  • Sending encrypted emails from the iPad is not working

I can't get sending encrypted emails working on my iPad3 running iOS 8.0.2
Let me explain what I did:
    1. I created S/MIME certificates for 2 email addresses on my iMac in Keychain Access. One email address exists only on the iMac the other only on the iPad.
    2. I set "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust" in both certificates.
    3. I exported 1 S/MIME certificate (p12) and installed it on the iPad. Then I deleted this certificate and its private&public keys in iMac Keychain Access
    4. I exchanged public certificates between the 2 devices. I installed one certificate in iMac Keychain Access and the other in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles.
    5. On the iMac in the iPad certificate I set "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust"
    6. I tested whether I can send and receive signed and/or encrypted emails
    Results:
    1. From the iMac I can send signed and/or encrypted emails to the iPad.
On the iPad I can read the encrypted emails. The signature is not trusted
    2. On the iPad I can send signed messages to the iMac. On the iMac the signature is trusted.
I cannot send encrypted emails from the iPad to the iMac. The iPad doesn't know about the public certificate in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles
So much for the straight forward part. Now it gets a bit more complicated and confusing.
    1. I deleted the iMac certificate in the iPad/Settings/General/Profiles. Then in iPad Mail I opened the signed mail coming from the iMac.
I viewed the untrusted certificate in Mail and installed it. From this point on all signed emails from the iMac are trusted.
Strangely the by this method installed certificate doesn't appear in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles.
Furthermore I still cannot send encrypted messages to the iMac. This certificate installation seems to be used only to check trust worthiness of the signature.
Installing on top the iMac public certificate in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles doesn't enable to send encrypted messages from the iPad either.
To be sure that this problem relates to the iPad certificate management and is not related to an error by me I did the following:
    1. I transferred a p12 file for a certificate that I created in my iMac to a PC running Windows7.
    2. I transferred a p12 file plus its public key (.pem) that I created in my iMac to another iMac into Keychain Access. (I have not tested if the pem is needed).
    3. On the other iMac and the PC I made sure that the certificates are trusted.
On the PC that means in the Certificate Manager the p12 needs to be in the "Personal" folder and in the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" folder.
The public keys need to be in the "Trusted People" folder and the "Other People" folder. One can just copy/paste the certificates.
    4. In both cases I deleted the certificate and public/private keys on my iMac.
    5. I exchanged public certificates between the devices.
    6. I tested exchanging signed and/or encrypted emails between my iMac and the PC and my iMac and the other iMac.
    Result:
    1. I can send signed and/or encrypted emails to the other iMac and the PC
    2. The PC and the other iMac trust the signature from my iMac and can read the encrypted emails
    3. My iMac can read encrypted emails from the PC and the other iMac
    4. My iMac trusts emails with signatures from the PC and the other iMac.
Everything is working as it should.
After the above test I wanted to see whether I can set up encrypted email exchange between the iPad and the PC. Strangely iPad Mail recognized the public certificate from the PC installed in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles and allowed me to send an encrypted email to the PC. However, on the PC I was unable to read the encrypted email. And the other way around, encrypted emails send from the PC to the iPad cannot be read on the iPad.
My conclusion from all this testing is that iPad mail encryption is still "under construction".

I was able to resolve the above described problem to some degree. Setting up sending and receiving encrypted emails between iOS and OSX I have working.
What is still not working is reading encrypted emails on the iPad/iOS8 received from Windows 7 PC. And sending encrypted emails to Windows 7 PC.
The details about how I solved part of the problem are described here.

  • Problem sending MobileMe email from iPhone

    Hello
I have a new iPhone, MacBook and MobileMe subscription. The address from MobileMe when I send email from my Mac is [email protected] but when I send email from my iPhone it is [email protected] I have in theory followed all the instructions yet cannot get it to do otherwise. Any suggestions appreciated
    Cheers
    Ben

This is because the SMTP server you have configured does not permit connections from off the ISP's network. When you are connecting via EDGE this is off-network from the perspective of the ISP.
Here are some hints from Apple on this problem:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.3/en/2637.html
You didn't say who your ISP is, but here are some common settings ISPs in various countries:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306990
As a last resort in the US you can set the outgoing SMTP server to cwmx.com:25 with no user ID or password. This will work on EDGE only, not on WiFi.

  • Cant Send SMS Text from iPhone

I cant send any SMS texts.  I can send iMessages and MMS (pictures), so when i want to text a non-iphone user i have to text, let it fail to deliver, then take a screenshot of this and send screenshot pic to the person.

Manual cutting of a SIM is always a risk, as you have witnessed. It is best to get a SIM directly from your carrier that is designed for your particular model of the phone. That eliminates these types of problems.

  • I am using the mail aplication on my destocktop and even though i can receive i cant send any email from my hotmail account using BT

i did visited the apple store and my email worked perfectly there.... can anyone say whats wrong??

    Hi Pitas123
I am in the UK and had a similar problem. Ii eventually found the problem was due to my BT Home Hub Router.  Not sure where you live, but of you are in the UK, this might work for you.
I found this fix below on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4604180?start=15&tstart=0
It worked for me.  If you can't link to the URL, here is the body of the text
There's an issue related to the BT homehub that is providing a hostname that is "syntactically incorrect" for several smtp server.
Here's how you can fix it.
Using your internet browser, go to the address "192.168.1.254
    - Follow instructions to reset your password if asked.
    - Then go to "Settings", then "Advanced Settings" and "home network"
You will see there all the devices that are connected or that has been connected before. It's gonna be easyer if yout computer is the only one connected.
Your computer should have a name like "unknown-xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ...
Click on this name, chose another name without any special characters, like "macbook" for exemple.
    And then click on "apply"
    - restart your computer.
    That should fix the issue.
Credit goes to vincentfromcork for providing me with the solution.
Hope it works for you.  If it does, spread the word ;-)

  • Why won't iCloud allow me to send outgoing email from iPhone?

I try to send emails from my newly created iCloud account, but I get an error message saying that the server isn't working.

Also same here.  If it's any consolation the iCloud and mail forums are awash with this problem.  I am most disappointed that the service status is showing all ok since 9.37am UTC yesterday when it is obvious that the mail poblems they posted as resolved are are not in fact resolved.  I am sorry I cannot offer any solutions, as many of those suggested by others (which I have tried) either only work temporarily, slow your mail down interminably or fail to work at all.  It should work the way Apple say it should and not require work-arounds.  What I find most disappointing is the lack of an ackowledgement somewhere that there is a problem and it is being addressed. Perhaps then tens of thousands of people (or more) wouldn't be wasting hours and hours trying to get it to work to no avail.
APPLE, JUST ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND I CAN THEN WAIT FOR IT TO BE RESOLVED, THAT'S ALL I AM ASKING.

  • Sending aol email from iphone

I am also having problems. Whenever I try to send an email via my aol account (which receives incoming email no problem) I get the same error message "Connection to the outgoing server "smtp.aol.com" failed". But I cannot find any setting on my iphone to try and correct this. Very fed up....help please.

I have solved this (thanks to apple telehpone support line). I am UK based used on O2 account.
You need to enter your aol account details manually, not through aol preset option.
So delete existing aol account (go in via settings then mail then follow prompts).
Then create new account - settings - mail - accounts - add account - other -. Ensure IMAP is selected. Enter your name, email address. Under incoming server enter host name "imap.aol.com", username, enter your aol account user name and password. Under outgoing mail server: host name "smtp.o2.co.uk", username and password shoudl be optional. Then presss save. It will ask you if you want to go ahead without ssl settings - select yes. Keep waiting. It worked and I have sent several emails without problems. Hope this solves problems for others.

  • Can's send yahoo email from iphone

While everything was working until a few days ago, all of the sudden, any emails I send from the iphone, using my yahoo account, are not sent. I tried sending it myself and it doesn't work. They don't even appear under the "sent" folder so it's not like they're pending or anything like that. Does anyone have any solution?

You might try to go in and reset your password for you Yahoo account in your iPhone. If that doesn't fix it, the quickest way to make sure that all of the settings are set correct is to delete your Yahoo account from your iPhone. recreate your account on your iPhone and that should fix any problem your having.
