I cant send texts to a non iphone from my 4s, get message tp resend using 10 digit number or valid short code. msg 2114 I am using 10 digits and have tried 7 digits

Contact your carrier. SMS is a carrier function and they would be the one that would be providing the error. Have them make sure your account is provisioned correctly for SMS. You might also want to double-check your settings for Dial Assist.

If it's a new phone, chances are it's a problem with the way your account is provisioned by your carrier. If you ported your number from a different carrier, the port may not be complete.

I also have an iphone 4 that is a device provided to me by my employer. i want to be able to send and receive texts from both devices, but I do not want texts from one to show up on the other and vice versa. I have only one apple id, and would prefer to keep it that way. How do i set this up, because I believe that my inability to do so is resulting in me not being able to send/receive texts on my ipad.

You can't do what you are attempting to do with a single AppleID.
The iPad can only send messages through iMessages - it is not able to send or receive traditional text (SMS) messages. So, even if you were to use it you could only receive messages from other Apple devices using Messages.

heres the thing i have recently got an n95 and over the last few days it is refusing to let me send any texts although i can recieve them and make fone calls on it! evertime i try to send a message it eventually comes up failed the "memory full close some applications" i have loads of memory so that is not my problem! i took it into the o2 shop today they told me it was a network error then told me i would have to take my fone into the shop to b repaired which annoyed me a bit as is it were a network problem why would it need to get repaired!!!
please help some1 and it cant b my message centre num as they r set up fine by o2

Format the phone *#7370# default code 12345 but before you do that, do a backup of the data on the phone but not the messages.
Restore the data back and it should work.

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>check (select) your iPhone number in there - if it is appearing. If the phone number does not appear, try turning Messages off on both the iPhone and the iPad. Restart both devices. Turn Messages on the iPhone first and activate it. Then do the same on the iPad and hopefully the phone number will be accessible again.

If that doesn't work, contact Apple Support who can revoke the iMessage/Facetime certificate from association to your phone number.
Also:
1) Go to www.icloud.com and remove the device from Find My iPhone.
2) Go to appleid.apple.com and change the primary email address of your Apple ID to something different (per Apple ID: Changing your Apple ID).
3) Also at appleid.apple.com, change the password to your Apple ID (per Apple ID: Changing your password).
4) Have any iPhone user attempting to send you a text message do the following:
4a) Verify that in Settings > Messages that if iMessage is turned on to ensure that ‘Send as SMS’ is also turned on.
4b) Delete the existing message thread, if any.
4c) Delete your contact and readd, using only the phone number (no email).
4d) Attempt to send a new text message to you.

More information would be important. No idea if you're talking about email messages or iMessage or something else entirely. If you're referring to iMessage, note that you cannot use that to text any non-iOS device... Only other iPads, iPods or iPhones.

I cant send text to certain people

Recently my phone is acting up. I an iphone 4 unlocked with gevey sim running 4.3.5 and 4.10.01 unlocked for tmobile and all of the sudden it wont let me send texts to certain people and i cant recieve texts from them either. The sending bar will load to 90% and then it stoped with 10% left and says error. I try to resend but it doesnt work. I googled it and i deleted my conversation with the person, reset the phone, deleted then re-added the contact but it still doesnt work. But yet i am able to call them. I have not tried to restore it because it says i have to update the iphone if i want to restore it which i can do. So i need any ideas on what to do.

This is a problem with your carrier. You can contact them and ask why you cannot send text messages. Have you tried restarting your phone or restoring it yet?

I'm guessing that you turned off the iPhone 5? If so, then are you using the same phone number as the 5? You need to go into Settings>Messages>make sure that iMessage is turned on and activated. Then go the Send & Receive and find out if your current number is checked.

Go to Messages > Send & Receive.
Select or unselect as you please.
Tip: You can un-check your emails if you don't want to send or receive using your email.

The email to which you are sending it to may not be correct. You can only send it an Apple ID with that email. For example, I could try to send it to my friend Bob who frequently uses the email bob@sample_email.com but his Apple ID may be bobby@sample_email.com. Maybe that helps?

I did speak a bit too soon it seems - while I can now send messages again from my iPad 2, it still doesn't show me messages that were sent to me via my telephone number. Which is weird, because in the "You can be reached by iMessage at:" setting I do have my telephone number checked.
At this moment I have set my iPad 2 and iPhone 4's "Start new conversations from:" setting to my Apple ID e-mail address. This way at least I can send messages *and* receive messages if people don't use my telephone number to send me messages...
So yes, you should probably wait a while before restoring your iPad 2 - it doesn't fix things completely.
