Cant set up ipod due to age restriction???

I am attempting to set up a new ipod touch. i want to set up a new apple id for my daughter but am being told her bday does not meet the age requirement. when i attempt to put it in with my date of birth, i am repeatedly given the same message. i even tried a new email account to "start fresh" with no luck
ideas???

If doing this on the iPod
- Reset the iOS device.
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
and then try again
If on computer.:
Reboot computer
Reset iPod and then try again

What happens when you try? Error message?
Can you connect to computer and setup via iTunes on computer? That makes it easer to troubleshoot problem
    You can try
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

  • Can't set up apple ID iPod due to "age limit"

I was trying so set up another apple ID on my device for iCloud, etc.  when I did this I by accident entered the wrong year on my birthdate.  Now it won't let me set up the ID at all saying that I am too young...even once I corrected the birth date!  I even tried using another email.  Now what do I do?
    Thanks,
    Lisa

24 hours later I was able to go in and set up the ID with no problems, just for future reference in case this happens to anyone else.  Thanks!

  • HT5622 I have bought my daughter an iPad mini And I am trying to set her up an Apple ID but it keeps saying she doesn't meet the age restriction so she isn't able to download any free apps or anything

I have bought my daughter an iPad mini and I've tried to set it all up for her and get her an apple account so she can download games and music but it keeps saying she doesn't meet the age restriction. How can I set this up for her as she has an iPod and would like to access music from iTunes ect.

There are age restrictions for an Apple ID. These are in place for a good reason. Simply set it up to use your iTunes account/Apple ID for purchases. If you don't have one, create one.

  • Set up ipod touch to cox email, ive tried everything and cant get it to work. thanks!

set up ipod touch to cox email, ive tried everything and cant get it to work. thanks!

Here's an answer from the net:
Go to Settings/Mail,contacts,calendars/Add account choose other, choose Add Mail Account. Fill in name, email address, password and description on the screen that comes up. Save those.
One the next screen tat comes up click om POP in the first line then fil in the host name as
spop.west.cox.net or spop.east.cox.net or the one to go with your region.
Note that is not a misprint, that is spop (secure pop)
Fill in your username one more time (the password should have carried over from previously)
Fill in your outgoing mail server like smtp.west.cox.net (change for your region) and click Save.
When all the settings are verified a checkmark will appear next to them all and you are good to go.
If it says something like "can't connect via SSL would you like to ..." then you probably missed the step about selecting POP on the second screen and are trying IMAP so go back and try over with POP. Or perhaps mistyped soemthing.
Once everything is working you can go back into the settings and see that it has automatically connected on port 995 and that SSL is on
Note that you probably won't be able to send email from a wifi in a cafe or similar as cox won't let you connect to their smtp from outside their network.
I haven't tried receiving mail from a non cox connected wifi yet but I suspect it will work just fine. Anyway these settings work for me using my ipod to my home wifi router connected to cox.
I could not find a definitive guide when I searched so I hope this helps other folks trying to configure this.
I got the spop from "Mail for Mac OS X 10.5 configure SSL / POP" here:

  • Is there a way to set your ipod up so it only syncs to one computer?

I'm in the process of cleaning up my music libraries.  It's become a big ordeal because I've pretty much got 3 of them.  One at work on my PC, one on my MacBook, and then one on my ipod.  Since I use two different iTunes libraries, I never synced my ipod, thus 3 different libraries.  Well now I'm trying to figure out a system here and figure if I could set my ipod up to only sync to my Mac, it would work.  Though I'm not sure how to do that.  I originally synced my new ipod classic to my Mac, but the minute I plugged it in to my PC, it forced me to reformat my ipod which erased all the songs I had on it.  The only way I see to be able to hook the ipod up to to both computers is by managing my library manually .... but then that brings me back to my 3 separate library problem.
    Any suggestions?
Also, is there a quick way to copy my ipod library to my MacBook?  I basically added both iTunes libraries to my ipod to make sure every single song I have is in one place....but now I want it all on my Mac so it can be synced.  I know how to pull them from my ipod to PC, by viewing hidden files and transferring them over, but if I do it that way, all the titles are messed up and read as random letters.  Is there a cleaner way to do this, and on a Mac?

If you follow the instructions here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
and make a new apple ID, you will have the ability to set 'none' as the payment option. With no payment, they can't buy anything. ANd if you choose to give them the 'budget' to purchase stuff, you can use iTunes gift cards to give them a set amount of credit to spend.
You can also set the restrictions on the device to set ratings limits etc. and you can lock out the app store and keep them from buying stuff.

  • I cant access my ipod from itunes

ok, ive looked all over itunes to fix this problem. i just bought an ipod video and i just finished downloading my music from my itunes, the only problem is that i cant access my ipod!! there is a icon that looks like a lock near the free space end of my ipod
THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
Used: 7.79 GB [ ] Free: 20.03 GB (and heres the icon)
so... i can put music onto my ipod, i just cant take it off... or change it...

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • How does one create age restricted articles inside DPS?

    Hello all,
I need to know how to create an article that is age restricted.
Are there any setting within InDesign etc. that can do this, or shall I use HTML in a web overlay?
Thoughts or example etc., greatly received and much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Billy.

I think the best that you can do is set a warning message covering the page inside a MSO with 2 buttons, one for above the age limits and continue to the article , the other is for under age and has navto action to the next article.

  • I cant fing my ipod, its in the house,is there anyway i can locate it from cumputor?? lol long shot

ok try again, i cant find my ipod touch, its in my house, is there any way i can locate it using my computor????i know its a long shot, but if i dont ask i wont know...

It might be possible if you had the Find My iPod Touch app installed on it.  If it's a 4G iPod Touch, you could try calling yourself via FaceTime if you had that set up as well.  If the volume is up high enough or you are close enough in proximity, you might be able to hear it.
Otherwise, there really aren't any other ways of using your computer to help locate it.  Sorry.

  • How do I change the age restriction on downloading apps on my apple I'd?

I am trying to change the age restriction on downloading apps but I do not know where to find this setting. Can anyone help please?

    Hi Aaron Lytle,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you were setting up Family Sharing, but did not get to  enter the correct birth date for your child's Apple ID. As mentioned below, a child's birth date cannot be changed once entered, and you'll need to create a new account with the correct birthday.
Family Sharing and Apple IDs for kids - Apple Support
Enter your child's birthday and click Next. The birthday for a child's account can't be changed after the account is created.
    Best Regards,

  • I cant find my ipod can you track it for me

i cant find my ipod can you track it to find it and tell me

If you set up the Find My iPod service prior to the iPod going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors: the iPod is turned on, connected to a WiFi network, and has not had the Find My iPod service disabled. Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. Note, though, that you'll only get the location of the WiFi router to which the iPod is connected; there's no way to pinpoint the exact location of the iPod itself.
If you did not set up Find My iPod, then there is no way to track it. Notify the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPod (the iTunes Store, for instance).
Just FYI for future questions, we're all just fellow users here. You're not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums.
