Cant start iTunes with Windows Vista installed

I have a problem starting the application iTunes. When i start i get a message that the folder iTunes cant be created, and the program have to use this folder to work. Vhen i press "OK" the program is closing.

Apple, apparently, had a fix up for an earlier version of itunes, but that is gone from the web page, and has been yanked.
Yes, there are big problems with iTunes for Windows. Until these are rectified, your Ipod will be a paper weight.

  • DESPERATE! IPOD NOT SHOWING IN ITUNES WITH WINDOWS VISTA.

I recently bought a new Dell Dimension E520 which came with windows vista pre installed. I seem to be one of many people having problems with it!
Newest version of Itunes (7.1) is installed and working fine. When I plug my IPOD nano in however nothing happens. It is visible in the device manager on my PC but doesn't show in itunes.
I've been to the apple store and they said that the new itunes should fix the problem but it hasn't. they've checked my nano and it is fully up to date.
I know it is a driver problem but i have absolutely no idea what i'm looking for when i go to the support section on this website!
the reason I bought a new PC was that my old computer wouldn't download the new itunes and therefore i couldn't access the store or any songs bought from the store on my nano (plus it was 14 years old). it did however actually recognise my IPOD!
It's been nearly 6 months since i've been able to update my ipod with songs and i'm getting desperate!!!! please can anyone help??

  • Installing iTunes with Windows Vista Ultimate

I have tried to install iTunes most recent version and others earlier with on my HP Pavillion and I keep getting a message that says I will not be able to import or burn CDs because iTunes did not install correctly. I have the *Windows Vista Ultimate* operating system. Any reason why this is happening?

    Hi Innonut;
You are asking your iTune question on the Leopard forum. If you would report in the Windows iTunes Forum, you might get more response there.

  • HT203175 only a tiny operation screen opens when I start Itunes in Windows Vista

In Windows Vista I am unable to open iTunes (updated 10.7);  all that comes up is a small window in top left hand corner which enables me to press start.  There is nothing else.  It used to work well a few months ago but I downloaded a whole series, it worked badly with jittering sound and out of sync but after reinstalling both programs (iTunes and Quicktime) nothing is starting.   Can anyone help, please?

  • Syncing iPod in iTunes with Windows Vista

I have the latest version of iTunes.
I upgraded from XP to Vista.
iTunes was syncing my iPod fine before the upgrade.
After I upgraded, iTunes worked fine (although taking up a huge amount of RAM) but syncing my iPod happened like this:
iTunes would recognize the iPod and seem to start syncing but would just sit for 30 to 40 minutes, iTunes extremely slow. Then, after 45 minutes, iTunes would finally begin syncing and finish in a normal time.
It's been like this for a month now and I'm going crazy.
I'm really dissapointed, not only because Apple took forever to release an update to iTunes that would work with Vista, but also because the update barely fixed anything.
I'm not even going to bother wasting my time calling customer support.
Any sort of assistance would be greatly appreciated!

  • Importing CD's into itunes with windows vista

I am having some trouble importing my cd's into itunes. When I insert the cd, it it recognized, and gives me the option to import. When I click yes, it imports the entire cd in about 5 seconds. When I go to play the songs added to my library, they are all 1 second long, and no sound plays. It also does the same thing when i try to play the song directly from the cd. It just goes from track to track every second.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, and still get the same problem. It is not my DVD drive, as the same cds import and play in windows media player. I am running windows vista home premium. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Can't use iTunes with Windows Vista Home Premium

I have deleted and reinstalled so many times, so i tried the compatibility settings and set it to work for Windows XP(Service Pack 2) with 256 colours. It works, but it messes up all my colours.
    Help, please.
(My brother got iTunes working on his Windows Vista Home Premium laptop, but it won't work for the desktop computer.)

i think the file name quicktime.msi is causing the problem
also forgot to add that installation stops when the status turns to computing space requirements

  • ITunes with Windows Vista

Currently have my music collection on windows media player. have transfered collection to iTunes but some ambums are not complete, with random tracks in albums on their own. Plus can't get artwork for lots of them despite having artwork on the originsls in windows media player. How do I put albums back together & get artwork?...tried dragging, cutting & pasting but won't work.
    Yours confused & frustrated.

Oh ive had this problems too. It seems like some songs saved on my WMP library simply cant be played using iTunes. I cant help you with that. But when it comes to album art its rather easy to simply hit "information" and choose a picture for each album yourself.
If thats to hard for you ya its just as easy to right click and selecet a option which name ive forgotten. But it lets you iTunes search the web for the album and find a suitable cover automatically. Amazing.

  • I CAN'T EDIT MY MUSIC LIBRARY IN iTunes WITH WINDOWS VISTA!!!!

I add my music carpets to iTunes and when I tried to edit any song, all data were in gray color and disabled. What happened? Does anbody know? I've already change many options in the Edition/Preferences menu, but nothing happened.
Thank you very much and i hope that anybody could help me

It is a Vista permissions issue. Give yourself FULL control over any folders with music. You might need it on the parent folders, too.

  • Downloading from iTunes with Windows Vista

I just purchased my iPod video and i am tring to download a free episode of something and it is saying that it is going to take 132 hours for it to download. I am using windows vista and i was wondering if this was a normal thing or if there was anything that i could do about it. Thank you in advance for anything that you can do to help me.

  • How to Start iTunes with Windows Minimized?

I leave my iPod connected to my PC frequently, but every time I boot to Windows, my iPod screen stays lit and says "do not disconnect" until I start iTunes.
Problem is that if I put iTunes in my "Startup" folder, then it always boots with the iTunes window open, and not minimized in the tray. I even selected "minimze to tray" option, but there is no "boot with Windows" option.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, first -- iTunes is dumb. It is the only application I know that ignores the intWindowStyle variable (the "2") in the script above.
Anyway, here is a workaround -- this starts iTunes, waits 6 seconds, then minimizes it. You can edit the time (in milliseconds) if this is too fast/slow.<pre>
    Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    WshShell.Run """C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe""", 2
    wscript.sleep 6000

    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
    & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
    Set colProcessList = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
    ("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = 'iTunes.exe'")
    For Each objProcess in colProcessList
    foobar = split (objProcess.Name, ".")
    WshShell.AppActivate ( foobar(0) )
    WshShell.SendKeys("%( )") '//equivalent of Alt+spacebar
