Cant stop a JavaScript aplication unistall window from popping up every second

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

    '''''MetaStream 3 Plugin''' MetaStream 3 Plugin r4 Unknown plugin Research''
    This is apparently the Viewpoint Media Player plugin '''npViewpoint.dll'''. Even though you don't see the Viewpoint Media Player listed in your list of installed programs, it might be listed as a different application.
    Disabling the MetaStream 3 Plugin in the Firefox Add-ons Manager removes it from the about:plugins list but apparently does not stop the PluginCheck from finding it. You should re-enable the MetaStream 3 Plugin in the Firefox Add-ons Manager list of plugins. You can then find and remove the plugin file '''npViewpoint.dll''' from your computer, using the following instructions, from this thread at mozillazine:<br>
    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2224319 Plugin check is happening with each start up

    The Plugin Check page listed about eight plugins with status listed as "unknown plugin." It turns out that the very last one on the list, ''''MetaStream 3 Plugin'''', which dated all the way back to 1/13/2004, was the one triggering this "Update" Nag. Here's what I did.
    #Enter about:config into the address bar
    #Locate the preference 'plugin.expose_full_path' by typing it into the filter bar
    #Toggle that preference true (right click, toggle)
    #Enter about:plugins in the address bar
    #The resulting "Installed Plugins" list will now show the full path and file name of the associated plugin DLL file.
    #Simply go to the directory of the suspect plugin (using Windows Explorer or whatever) and rename the DLL file (I just appended '.OLD' to the DLL file name, e.g., ''''npViewpoint.dll'''.OLD')
    #Quit firefox (file, exit) and restart.
    #If you don't get redirected to the Plugin Check page then problem solved. If you do get redirected to the Plugin Check page then the plugin you just nuked (by renaming the DLL file) should be gone from the list.
    #Repeat with the other "unknown plugins" until you don't get redirected upon Firefox startup.

  • How do i stop the keychain window from popping up it is really annoying?

    How do I stop the keychain window from popping up, it is really annoying?

    What is the specific message you are getting?
    If it's asking for a password, then enter it and you should be good. If you don't know the password, then I would probably recommend reseting your keychain entirely. Your keychain keeps saved password for certain websites and programs but in my expereince the average user is not tremendously affected by reseting the keychain. It's just a matter at that point of reentering your passwords manually if you've gotten used to them populating automatically.
    Check out http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1544 for an article on how to reset the keychain.

  • Can anyone please tell me why the "Do you want to restart your computer now" window keeps popping up every two minutes? Please help! Its driving me nuts?

    Hi all.
    I need some help. I have recently installed a new Hard Drive in my Macbook and have re-installed Snow Leopard. Since doing so there have been a few things that haven't been quite the same.
    1) Certain buttons decided they didnt want to work anymore. These being the Space Bar, the Tab key, all four arrow keys, Caps lock, Volume up, Eject, and a few others.
    After putting up with this for a couple of weeks and looking at numerous forums, they all of a sudden came back to life (Hence why I'm actually able to type this message) THEN, they packed up again. Then started again, then packed again, and so on. They seem to have a mind of their own.
    Please... does anyone know whats going on? Is it a hardware prob? Is it something to do with the way Ive installed the Hard Drive? Have I forgotten to do something?
    2) Ever since my buttons initially came back to life, the "Do you want to restart you computer?" window keeps popping up every couple of minutes.
    It's the window that says "Restart, Sleep, Cancel, Shut Down"
    It's driving me insane and I can't help but think that the two probs are related.
    If anyone out there has any ideas at all, they would be most welcome.
    Many thanks in advance
    MadDogSnaps

    Have you tried reinstalling the original drive? Same symptoms with it?

  • How to stop the "sign in to icloud" from popping up?

    How can I stop the "sign in to icloud box from popping up all the time? I have an iphone 6.

    This has to be the most annoying thing in Illustrator and has been for the years I have been using it. I click on that icon to switch between having the stroke and fill selected, and it pops up the color panel in place of my swatches panel which is what I need.
    Let's say I have a swatch in my swatches panel that I want to use as the stroke for an object. I currently have the fill selected to work with, so I go down and click the stroke icon (shortcut for that is X but I prefer not to use the shortcut for that function). I then move back over to where my swatches panel is normally, but the damn color panel is covering it now! So I need to make an extra click back over to the swatches panel so I can use it. Such a minor little thing but so incredibly annoying.
    I usually work with a subset of colors in the swatches panel and when I need to use a color picker, I simply doubleclick on the fill/stroke icon on the toolbar. Thus, the color panel is completely useless to me in most cases.
    If I close a panel, any panel, it should not pop up unless I specifically go to the Window menu to enable it.

  • How to stop the [Annoying] Color Picker box from popping up on Illustrator CS5; Please Help!

    Yes, I'm talking about that box. It can get very annoying to constantly go back and forth to exit it out. I'm sure there should be some preferences option *somewhere* on Illustrator CS5 where you can prevent that annoying box from popping up all the dang time. It's almost like an ad. If the creators can make it automatically pop up, then there should be a way to turn off that feature. Otherwise this should be listed as another aggravating Illustrator feature that needs to get fixed.

  • When I launch Firefox 5, two (2) windows open: the "What's New" window and a second window with the correct Home Page. How do I stop the "What's New window from opening when I launch Firefox 5?

    Further: I'm running Windows XP.
    This happens every time I open Firefox 5 and began just after I upgraded to 5.0.
    Note: I've tried suggestions from the various posts in this forum from people who have similar problems, but with no luck. The problem still persists. Does anyone have any suggestions ??

    hello, this might happen when firefox is not able to properly save preferences in its profile folder. please try this: Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and then click help [[Image:Help-29]] > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "show folder". then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named '''user.js''' (it might be used to overwrite your custom settings). in case it is present , delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards.

  • How do I stop spam tabs/new windows from opening constantly every time I click on anything?

    Hi! I have been having this issue recently of new tabs and windows opening constantly on my MacBook whenever I click on whatever website. I mean, even when I was trying to write the question to post on this forum, a new window popped and opened in the back ... without me clicking on something related whatsoever! I read that it might be malware or similar stories, but nothing works, I don't seem to make them stop under any circumstances. Please help because I am sick and tired of closing unnecessary popping tabs and windows all day long. I use safari and I have a MacBook Air.

    And ofcourse I found the answer as soon as I posted the question (doesn't it always happen that way?). I went to Preferences - General -  and checked the box "Close windows when quitting an application".

    The following details appear in a small window of the bottom left of my screen which cannot be closed:

    ! an unknown change was detected on your browser's search settings:
    * Keep my current settings.
    * I am aware of this change and approve it

    when I click on Yes or on red X nothing happens and small window is still visible.

    hello, this is usually caused by adware on your pc.
    please run a scan of your system with [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] & also manually check that you don't have any suspicious entries like 3rd-party-toolbars presently installed under ''firefox > addons > extensions'' (adware like babylon also might install some unwanted stuff that comes under the names "Browser Manager", "Browser Protector", "Bprotector", "Object Installer", etc.) or in the windows control panel > programs section.
    afterwards install the search reset addon - it will revert the most common customziations those adware programs do in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

  • How can I stop Acrobat Reader from popping up every time I close Firefox?

    Every time I close Firefox, after my browser window closes, Acrobat Reader pops up. Is there a way to stop this from happening. I already went into the "Add-Ons" and disabled it, but it continues to occur.

    It doesn't :-) I was desperate, there is nowhere on the Internet giving the information on how to block pop-ups on just IE (not all of Microsoft) But thank you anyway. :-) FYI I installed IE 9 then deleted IE all together.
