Cant stream video sound from ITunes to stereo via Airport Express

I'm using a PC with wireless (Centrino 802.11g) with Itunes (Latest release 7.0.0.70) and for some reason the sound from Itunes video will not stream wirelessly to my stereo connected to my AirPort Express.
When the video is embedded in an Itunes playlist of MP3s, the sound will work fine through the AirPort Express with the MP3 tracks, but will toggle over to the PC speakers for the video.
Any ideas gratefully received?

Airtunes actually only support MP3/AAC audio streaming from iTunes. That's too bad for video.
The things is, even with other Airtunes streaming software, the streaming delay is such that the song will be off by a few second from the video. I guess Apple have choose to do not stream video sound until this may be resolve.
Therefore, I'm not aware of any solution to this issue.

  • Connect Imac to Stereo via Headphone Jack & 2nd Stereo via Airport Express

I have two whole-house stereo systems; one serving the lower level (basement) of my house and another serving the first and second floors. My iMac is on the lower level. The house was prewired with two coax cables (standard cable TV-type cables) from the area behind my stereo on the lower level to the room where my iMac is located. Using adapters from Radio Shack, I was able to directly connect my iMac to my home stereo on the lower level. I can currently play my iTunes on my lower level stereo by plugging the cable into the headphone jack on my iMac.
I am set up with a wireless network using a Linksys WRT54G. I would like to be able to also stream music from iTunes on my iMac to my home stereo on the first floor. I realize I can do this with the use of Airport Express.
My goal is to be able to play the same music from iTunes on my iMac on both stereos simultaneously. My question is; if I have my lower level stereo connected to my iMac via the headphone jack, will I still be able to stream the same music from iTunes to my upper level stereo via Airport Express? I'm concerned that by connecting the lower level stereo to the headphone jack, the music will not be able to be streamed wirelessly to the upper level stereo.
Thank you in advance for your time.

    Hi.
Assuming your iMac is no more than 50 feet from where you intend to locate the express then:
You will need to configure your airport express to join your current wireless network in client mode (otherwise you won't be able to use the internet and the express at the same time).

In iTunes there is an option to select multiple speakers. Thus you select this and then check the desired options. Hence you can have music coming out of the speakers/hadphone jack on your iMac AND out of the speakers connected to the airport express.

  • Printing Lighter from windows to mac via airport express

My wife has a windows vista computer and the only way she can print to our printer through the airport express is if she connects to the printer through my computer as a shared printer. Going directly to the printer via bonjour does not work.
Anyway, whenever she prints to the printer the text is always lighter than it should be or would be if she was directly connected to the printer. My iMac prints perfectly to the printer via the AE.
    Any ideas?

  • Connecting Itunes to reciever via Airport Express LAN

    Ok,
First off I've read so many articles on connecting that my head is spinning.  I've got an older 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Imac.  I've got two airport expresses, one brand new, the other a second gen I think, but let's forget about that.  It's connected to a pair of powered speakers at the other end of our loft, but drops out constantly regardless of channels picked.  Eventually I'll get an airport extreme, which is what I should have done in the first place.  My Imac is close enough to my receiver (vintage B&O 5000).  Can I just run a LAN cable from the Imac to airport express?  Obviously I need the mic/optical jack for connecting the receiver via RCA.  The second part of my question is will the airport express still work as a DAC connected this way?  I just want to have my music connected to one real pair of speakers for now, and will start from scratch building a wireless network for the powered speakers once I get an airport extreme.  Just...can't... stand... dropouts anymore!

  • Streaming video playlist from iTunes = ATV = TV

I expect this question has been asked, but I could find any specific answers with a search.
Does ATV allow video playlist streaming from iTunes to a TV? I would like to confirm that this capability exists before a purchase. Objective is to have my computer's iTunes feed a TV via ATV for a extended period of time (~8hrs) by playing a video playlist.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks to you both for your comments. Disappointing that a feature that exists (video playlists) on the Classic iPods doesn't exist on the ATV yet. Guess I'll wait until it does.
    Join the queue....
Video playlists is an often requested feature for those of us who want to watch random music videos or for those who want to use the device to display a consecutive selection or repeating selection of videos.
No harm in sending feedback here, specifying you are not buying it as it doesn't have the feature:

  • Cant download video podcasts from Itunes

For some reason I'm having issues downloading video podcasts on itunes although I can download audio podcasts.  I just switched computers and moved my itunes download directory, everything seems to work except Video podcasts.
I don't get an error, it says done but no download file shows up, it just keeps the icon GET on the right side.

carlos, I to am having the same issue as you, and it is extremely frustrating!! I can watch the temp file get larger and larger, then once it has finished downloading, it gets removed from the PC! Hopefully someone has an answer.

  • Stream content from iTunes to AppleTV and Airport Express

I have an Apple TV in family room which is wirelessly connected to my home network. I also have a PC connected via Ethernet to my network. All my music is stored on an external drive connected to my PC (I don’t store any media on the ATV, as my music is well over 400GB). This setup works great, and allows me to stream content from the external drive to my ATV which is connected to a stereo.
Next, I purchased an Airport Express, connected it to a second stereo in my basement. After spending 3 hours trying to get it connected to my network, (I had to disable all wireless encryption, and use MAC filtering to keep network secure), I am now able to stream media from iTunes on the PC, to the stereo connected to the Airport Express.
What I would like to do now, is be able to select a song from the Apple TV (using ATV remote, or iPhone Remote), and have it play in both places. Since the media itself is coming from iTunes running on the PC with the external drive, and it gets streamed from there to Apple TV, how can I also stream the same content to the Airport Express?
The folks at the Apple store say this is a feature, but no one seems to know how to make it work. I have also read hundreds of posts online, and some say you can do this, others say you cannot. All of those who say it is not possible, state you cannot stream from ATV to AE, but in my case, the media is not on the ATV, it is on the PC, and I just want to use ATV to select the song. From there, it would be iTunes that would send the content to both the ATV and the AE.
Can someone help myself and many others put this question to rest - can it be done, or not?

Thanks for the reply. Just as you indicated, I figured out how to use iPhone remote to tell iTunes on PC to output to Express, Apple TV and PC, and that works great - I can even turn on/off any of the speakers from the iPhone - this is so COOL!
While you answered the question, I am curious about the architecture of all this...If the media is actually on the PC and is controlled by iTunes, isn't the Apple TV doing the same thing as the iPhone Remote - just telling iTunes what to play, and iTunes sends the content to whatever speakers are defined? Keeping that thought, if you can control iTunes via iPhone Remote, and the content will play on any speakers you select, then it would make sense that you could do the same thing with the Apple TV menu - tell iTunes what to play, and let iTunes send to whatever speakers you have selected.

  • Stream Music over iPhone from iTunes Server direct to Airport Express?

    Hi all
I have a wireless network supported from timecapsule which will be expanded via airport extress. I use airport express to stream music from my iTunes library to defined speakers via remote app on my iPhone.
Due to lack of diskspace on my MacBook Pro, I bought a Synology NAS to store all my music on it and use the iTunes server.
Unfortunately, there is obviously no app from Apple available to connect to iTunes server (via iPhone or iPad) select music to play and also the speakers to stream to!
    Thanks for your help!
    Regards, Jean-Claude

I think this is really disappointing especially since it seems to be able to stream from the Apple TV G1 to Airport Express devices. Also it's weird that you will be able to stream from the iPad to Airport Express devices including Apple TV G2 but the same thing is not possible from the Apple TV G2... Let's hope they'll change that but maybe they did it on purpose because the Apple TV G2 is streaming itself... This is really disappointing.
Also I recognized that music that is played via the home sharing on your Apple TV G2 doesn't include the ratings. Ratings are not transferred via home sharing. I don't think your playcount etc. will be updated as well. This is very disappointing as well. What do you guys think about that?

  • Video Sound Settings on external speakers via Airport

When I playback my music videos from iTunes, why can't I get any sound through speakers plugged into an Airport base. No problems with music from the Library just effects video or DVD. The 'multiple speaker' flag is still there and I haven't changed the settings. Puzzling - anyone got any ideas ?

There is about a 2000 millisecond delay when playing over remote speakers. Not a problem for music, but put the sound out of sync with the video, in other words speaker's lips move, but the sound comes later.

  • Can I stream music direct from my itouch to the airport express?

    Hello everyone
Can you help a noobie, I've got an ipod touch and would like to stream music, you tube video etc wirelessly to a set of powered speakers directly from the itouch and am wondering if the airport express would allow me to do this?
    Thanks
    Gary

The ultimate answer, no you cannot. This might be something that is worth looking into, (the website below), though. Then you could stream it to a computer, then to Airport.

  • Can I play music direct from my iPhone to my stereo via AirPort Express?

Rather than using my iPhone as a remote control for my MacBook Pro music, can't I just play the music on the iPhone wirelessly through my new AirPort Express to my stereo? If so, how?

Assumng your on the same wireless network youu should be able to.(I've done it with mine, and a even a friends iphone)
While playing a song select the little upward facing triangle in a box then select your Airport Express...
For further/better info on the topic you want to search for is AirPlay... from Apple's general support (or maybe even the older version AirTunes)

  • Can i stream music directly from ipad 2 to an airport express

Hi i currently am looking for a solution, is it possible to send music directly from my iphone4 and ipad2 directly to an airport express which inturn will be connected to my home hifi via the optical out.
I am getting confilicting info from the web with some suggestions that i will have to have my pc switched on and use the iphone/ipad as a remote and the music coming from my pc.
I'm not keen on this as i dont want to have my pc switched on to play music.
    Thanks
    Karl

If you notice in the instructions for the recent software update instructions, apple asked everyone to reset all settings first before updating the apple tv software.  If you missed this step, this is the reason why you are getting this error.
The solution is annoying but it works. You need to go into general settings and choose to reset all your current settings.  Doing this will reset your apple tv and allow the recent software update to fully take effect.  You just need to enter your original setup information for apple tv the same way you did when you first installed your apple tv unit.
    Hope this helps....
