Cant sync iPod require file is not found

Has anyone received this error message?
If so, anyway to correct it?

Same thing has happened to my ipod, the purchased songs I got will not stay on my ipod because it wont sync. "Unkown error (-48)" pops up everytime i click on a song in my ipod, therefore i cannot update my ipod at all and i have it set on manual so i usually drag my purchases but im stuck now. Apple needs to fix this possible glitch/bug if thats the case pronto.

  • Can't sync iPod because file was not found?

Ok, me and my sister both have iPod mini's from June of '05. Well we got my mom a nano for Christmas. Her iPod wouldn't work with our version, so we downloaded the 7.0.2 version or whatever. It worked for a while, but now there are 2 songs with that "!" next to them, and when we try to sync the iPod, it won't do it because "the file could not be found" What file

When iTunes shows a song it getting the actual file from a folder on your computer. If you move that file, iTunes won't know what to play, as the file it used to play is "gone."
Try searching your computer for that song and see if you find the file.
Also, did you move any files in the My Music folder (or the iTunes folder in that)?

When i try to sync my ipod touch it goes through the motions but when it tries to sync photo's i get the message about saying that the ipod can't be synched as the required file is not found.  Earlier today a driver was automatically put on my windows 7 based laptop and it seemed to be from apple and was downloaded just as i plugged in my ipod touch ...... can anyone help please ?

Deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder usually resolves the problem ofr its location see:
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
You may have more than one folder and you need to delete all of them.

  • Does anyone know what to do after the IOS 5 update when it wont sync your music or apps or even register with itunes saying device is not connected/ the required file is not found?

My iphone after the update to IOS 5 (which i had problems updating first anyway) wont even register with itunes saying its still half way through a restore when its not i have already restored it 4 times but still wont sync music or apps or finish restoring my phone because it always comes up device is not connected or the required file is not found?
Any ideas?? ive gone the 02 shop and they just said to keep trying to restore it but its really not solving anything.

Unfortunately yes, though technology would never move on if it kept to older standards and did not strive to do more.
The app store always gives you the option to use a previous version of the app IF it is available for your device.
Sorry but you are stuck without new hardware.

  • IPhone cannot be synced The required file cannot be found

could you help my iphone cannot syncing it showing a message "The iphone .......... cannot be synced, The required file cannot be found". I trying to reinstall a itune, update my iphone it still showing a message.

    Hey Rawins,
Thanks for the question. The following article outlines the error message you are receiving and steps to a potential resolution:
    iTunes: Unable to sync photos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3697
    - This error appears: "The iPhone/iPod touch '[device name]' cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."
If you encounter any of the above issues or another issue while syncing photos, try the following:
    1. Ensure that you are syncing the device with the computer with which you normally sync photos.
    2. Within iTunes, select the device, then select the Photos pane and turn off Photo syncing.
    3. Sync your device.
Important: This will remove all synced photos from your device.
    4. Disconnect your device and update to the latest version of iTunes.
    5. Remove your iPod photo cache.
    6. Connect your device to iTunes.
    7. Select the device, then select the Photos pane and turn on Photo syncing.
    8. Sync your device.
If you still see an alert that there is not enough space to sync your entire photo library, selectively add photo albums until the device is full.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Either you did or did not.  Do you not remember?

Media is not burned to iDevices.  Burning an iDevice would destroy it.
Why will iTunes not allow you to sync media to the iDevice?  What happens when trying to sync media to an iDevice?

I changed my password so now when I pull up my account there is no music.
    Changed password to what?
    Pull up what account?
What does this have to do with iTunes?
One does not pull up an account to access their media, they simply launch iTunes.
Changing a password has nothing to do with accessing the media on the computer when one launches iTunes.
What is the actual issue that is occurring?

Can anyone tell me how to find my old account and then copy that music to my HTC One.?
iTunes has nothing to do with putting media on a non-Apple device.

  • During itunes sync i get an error message "iphone cannot be synced. the required file cannot be found." Why is this happening?

During itunes sync i get an error message "iphone cannot be synced. the required file cannot be found." Why is this happening?

Close "iPhoto" if it is open. Open the "Pictures" folder and right-click on "iPhoto Library." Select "Show Package Contents." Right-click the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, select "Move to Trash" and sync your iPhone. The error message should no longer appear.
    if that doesn't work,
uninstall itunes and download the lastest version

  • Getting authorization error message: Required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed.

I have recently purchased this MacBook used and am trying to authorize it on the iTunes Store but even after uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it with a fresh copy I'm getting this error message: "The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."  And I have no idea of where or how to fix this issue.  Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  I even tried to deauthorize this computer and got the same error message.  HELP!

I used Terminal to change the permissions on the folder in question.  I followed the instructions in this article:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization
In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one.   I was hesitant to use Terminal b/c I know that if I made an error I could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable.  So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page and *pasted* it into Terminal.  Also, before I could do anything in Terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal).  I was just super careful when entering my password or doing anything else while Terminal was open (making sure I didn't accidently hit the spacebar or another key, etc.)  And it fixed the problem right away.
What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do.  It didn't mention Terminal.  What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message.

I am trying to back up my new iPhone after downloading/updating iTunes with iCloud. I get this message: The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permiss
how do I find the file and replace it or install it?

I'll reload it tonight when I get home...basically, I bought a new iPhone and downloaded some new medical apps. also had to download an update for iTunes into my mac laptop so I could access iCloud (which was NOT on my prior iTunes software)
When I synched my new iPhone with the newly downloaded iTunes, I registered my iphone and tried to "back it up" to iCloud and the message indicating that "the required file was not found or has a permissions error...." popped up.
How do I correct the permissions error, or...am I able to do this somewhere? Or...how do I find the file that is missing?
