Cant't use scanner after upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro

I recently bought a new laptop that came with Windows 8.1 Pro. I downloaded and installed the print drivers for my Laserjet 3055 and the printer works fine. Windows Fax and Scan can not see the scanner. I also installed the Printer and Scanner doctor and followed those direction. It still does not see the scanner. What now?

Meanwihle, I have tested for this issue on Windows 7 x64. It’s the same behaviour. Same lower RPM after-sleep-bug (1600 RPM instead of 2000 RPM, Fan does not turn off any more).
I have taken the measurements from TPFanControl (http://www.staff.uni-marburg.de/~schmitzr/donate.html) and my ears ofc. Just used it with BIOS Fan Control (no custom fan control).
Please Lenovo, help!
Edit: Now tested at Ubuntu 14.10 Linux – same issue. Seems to be system independent. Must be a controller issue :-(

You can also try to install the older version in compatible mode:
Windows 8.1 Wifi showing "limited" or "No Internet Access"
Solution: revert your network adapter driver back to an older version

In addition, disable power management on your network driver:
Open Network and Sharing Center.
Click the Change adapter settings link in the upper left of the navigation pane.
Right click the network connection you want to enable/disable power management support on and click Properties .
Click Configure .
On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.

T540p-Fan Behavior after upgrading to Windows 8.1 pro

Hi, i recently upgraded my T540p with an samsung evo 500gb ssd and installed windows 8 pro. I then upgraded to Windows 8.1 pro. My system runs smoothly and i am fairly happy with it. The only thing i have notised is that the fan kicks in every now and then. I have observed that the fan kicks in when the temp of the cpu reaches around 50 degrees celcious. This is a new laptop so the air vents are clean, and i am always using it on a desk. The fan produces a quite audible noise level and i guess it is spinning at higher revs when this happens. When the temp drops below 50 degrees i cant hear it at all. Has anyone else observed similar behaviour on their laptops?

HP SOLUTION CENTRE - MISSING for HP Scanjet 4890 Photo Scanner - after upgrade to Windows 7 or 8

Tearing my hair out after searching for months for solution - hope Someone Anyone can help. I love my HP Scanjet 4890 Photo Scanner and it is still working wonderfully 90% of the time - after a number of years.
However - when I upgraded to Windows 7 and Windows 8 (on other machine) - I had to download New Drivers for it. These did not come with the HP Solution Centre - which is where I was able to select "Transparencies or Slides".
I have Adobe Photoshop and can scan anything else - but not the Transparencies and Slides for which I bought the machine.
Is there a way of downloading the HP Solution Centre or accessing this feature?

I understand the touch screen on your notebook is not detected after updating to Windows 8.1.
This would be the best place to start: Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 8. This is a great document that covers touchscreen issues from start to finish. Do not be alarmed that it states the document pertains to TouchSmart PC's, as the steps are the same.

Cant adjust my brightness after upgrade to windows 10

I upgraded my C855-S5107 from windows 8.1 to windows 10 and i cant adjust brightness. seems there is no display driver update for my device. i need help because i cant use my projector too and my eyes hurt due to the brightness.

Right click on your desktop away from any folders or programs.Scroll and click DISPLAY SETTINGS.Look at your brightness level, and click on that to go to the far rightuntil it is bright enough for you.If it is already there, then go to bottom of the window, and click display settings.You can do some configurations there too. I just bought mine and been tweaking it the past week. I got everything looking nice, and brighter too.Hope this helps.

My HP LaserJet 1536 Scanner will not work after upgrading to Windows 10

I just upgraded to Windows 10, and now the scanner will not work, although I can still print. I downloaded the latest driver, but this does not seem to help. The error message I get states that scanner communication cannot be established. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Greetings , I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with scanning after upgrading to windows 10.
I would start with the simple, have you tried just restarting the computer? Have you made sure your computer has all of it's windows updates? How can I tell if my computer is up to date? Most products do have updated software available for Windows 10, did you install the correct driver?HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver I've also seen a few posts that say the Windows 8.1 driver will work for Windows 10 as well, so you could try that too.  HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. I recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor, if it doesn't fix it automatically let me know what errors or messages you receive.  Do you know if you are able to scan using Paint? To Scan from Paint: HP Multifunction Printers - How to Scan: Windows 8
(It's the same for Windows 10, from what I've been told)Right-click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, and then type ...Click Paint in the results.Click File, and then click From scanner or camera.Select your printer, click OK, and then click Scan. Scanner of HP 8500 A909g does not work after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and subsequent upgrade of printer software, the scanner functionality did not work. When I tried to uninstall the printer software I got the message "HP uninstaller has stopped working". After another upgrade of printer software the scanner was still not working. How can I get around this problem? Update:

Not sure whether it is possible to uninstall, though (don't want to try since it is working).

I had the same problem with my Officejet Pro 8600 All-in-One scanner, sfter upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer driver, the problem is solved. You can look up the model of your printer on HP's support site and download it from there. Apparently, not all printers are compatible with Windows 10. In that case, they recommend you buy a new printer. ;-)

I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

I cant access any printers, not even the virtual printers.
What I would do is use ProcMon to find out why that Event entry was written. Then I imagine I would get a clue about a .dll which might be involved, which hopefully might be registerable. Since IE9 there have been new .dll involving printing
which have not been reflected in any of our repair tools. However, instead of modifying our old scripts to reflect this fact, I have been advocating, so far unsuccessfully, that Microsoft create a proper IE Repair tool, one which does not rely on such
unreliable techniques. E.g. a better method of repairing would be to have it done by a proper troubleshooter (an .msdt file) but so far it seems nothing has been done in that way for these symptoms (again, assuming the cause is registry corruption
and not simple interference from now incompatible third-party programming--the fix for that would be to identify and remove the incompatibilities.) For example.

Dolby Home Theater v4 not working after upgrading to Windows 10

Hi there, I just upgraded to Wndows 10 Home from Windows 8.1; everything went smoothly except for the fact that Dolby Home Theater v4 does not work. I had to reinstall it using the .msi file found in the Realtek Audi folders. I chose v4 over any of the other versions because I like how I can tune the equalizer to my liking and different uses. Anyways, the regular audio works and Dolby is turned on but there is no activity appearing on the equalizer and my music does not change once adjusted. Had this problem when doing an optional audio driver update in the past when I was running 8.1. I do not have the option to rollback the driver after upgrading to Windows 10. Does anyone have a solution to this issue or know what the correct Realtek driver is to make Dolby work? This is one of my favorite features of my laptop and I really want it up and running again! Games not working after upgrading to windows 10

My Laptop configuration is 8GB Ram,Intel i7 processor and 4GB Nvidia Graphics which is more than enough for running games like Batman Arkham, Portal, Skyrim etc. These games used to worked smoothly when I had windows 8.1, but after upgrading to windows 10 these games are not working/working very slowly. Hi.....my laserjet 1536dnf mfp was working perfectly with win 8 pro....then I installed win 8.1 pro and now the computer ,which is part of a network,can not communicate with the scanner of the printer--it prints just fine. On another computer (running win 7 ) on the same network, the scanner and all other printer functions work just fine.
I have tried installing the latest drivers from HP......scanner still not "communicating" with computer.....also temporarily disabled firewall.....please help...all the best -David G (gossat)

Ethernet LAN not working after upgrading to windows 8.1

After upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, my Ethernet LAN is no longer working. Wireless LAN connectivity is OK. I have run the HP Support Assistant and downloaded the drivers for 8.1. Hovever, I do not see a 8.1 driver listed for the Ethernet LAN.

Loss of internet connectivity after upgrading to windows 8.1

Hi, After upgrading to windows 8.1 from windows 8 i am experiencing major problems , loss of internet connectivity for no reason both I.E. and G/CHROME are now taking an age to open there are no virus issues as far as i can see.
I have uninstalled and re-installed windows 8.1 about four times over the past 9 months or so and the same thing happens after all the updates are in it runs like a dream for say 6weeks or so then i get the same faults as described above then i uninstall/ re-install ok for 6 weeks .
I would apprieate any help or advice thanks

I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 about every 6 weeks you loose wireless connectivity for no reason and the web pages are very slow to open. If you uninstall and reinstall Windows 8.1 it works fine again for about the same amount of time. You have done this about 4 times with the same result each time.
Do you know if there is any changes at that time , perhaps an update?
You stated you do not believe you have any viruses. Just to be sure here are two links that will help confirm that.
