Cant Transfer songs HELP!!!!

i cant transfer song to my ipod mini, it says it can not read or written in the disc. In the itunes there exist a small lock just beside the bar showing the capacity left in the ipod.
HELP!! what should i do??

"i cant transfer song to my ipod mini, it says it can not read or written in the disc"
See if this helps: "-36 or "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod
"In the itunes there exist a small lock just beside the bar showing the capacity left in the ipod."
A lock symbol at the bottom of the screen and grey text when you look at the content and simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • I can recharge my Zen Micro VIA USB, but I cant transfer songs....

    Hello,
Using the USB Port on my PC, I can successfully recharge my Zen Micro. But for some reason, I cant transfer music to it. Whenever I go to the "Zen Micro Media Explorer", I always get an explorer error for some reason, and it says "Zen Micro Not Connected"
I try other programs, such as WindowsMedia Player, real player, and NOTMAD Explorer, and they cant connect to the Zen Micro either (player not connected error)
Does anyboy know why? And can anybody please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for all the input.
    I've Solved the problem!
I called up Creative Tech Support, and they said to reinstall the software, which I did. Now it works perfectly. Thanks for all the support though. I think Creative's tech support is good, not as bad as people claim it to be.

  • Exclamation mark when transfer songs - HELP

    Hello everyone.
This is my first post ever on an Apple forum.
I got a new computer and wanted to transfer all the music to the new computer so that I do not lose my song ratings. I am HUGEEEEEEEE on ratings. It's what I base MOST of my playlists on.
I followed the instructions on this link to the teeth:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
When I open iTunes on the NEW computer all the songs with ratings have an exclmation sign and when I double click on the songs it says CANNOT BE FOUND.
Is there another article on this or a workaround that anyone can recommend?
    Many thanks.

Did you do the step labeled "Copy iTunes folder to iPod?
"To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your iPod:"
Move the entire *iTunes folder* from the old computer to the new computer.

When i connect my ipod it shows up in itunes however, when i try to add music to my ipod i get an error that say i need to update my ipod software, however, when i try to update it it shows that it is up to date. I have checked to see if quicktime is up to date as well and it appears to be.

  • Ever since the new update, my Ipod won't sync. Starts to sync but then goes back to connected eject before disconnecting. Still won't transfer songs even after being restored. Restored fine. But now I've got nothing on it. Please god help!

For awhile, since the newest update, I'd noticed when charging the ipod (classic) that it stopped going to the charging screen and would stay on the  Connected: Eject before disconnecting' screen. But, y'know, didn't matter to me, it still charged... until today when I tried to add music. Tried it many times, reset it... STILL wouldn't transfer songs... It would 'say' it was syncing, but then suddenly stop and stay on the same Connect: please eject before disconnecting' page. I did a couple of times get a message about scanning it but, after restoring that never popped up again...
So, I do a system restore on it and ofcourse THAT works, but it STILL won't sync! So, now I've got an ipod with no music that won't sync and because it's all gone on there, I'm not sure how to back up my stuff (should I need to re-install iTunes... Though I doubt it'd work...)... So, yeah, I tried a different cable too, still no luck...
There has GOT to be some way to fix this!
Please somebody help me out! I so freaking appreciate it you have NO idea!

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

    Hey lightc,
If you are having an issue with iTunes not recognizing your iPad and iPod on your Windows computer, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • My computer will not let me click the box in iTunes where it says "sync only checked music and videos." So i cant unsync songs that i don't want on my iPod but still want in my iTunes. HELP?!

My computer will not let me click the box in iTunes where it says "sync only checked music and videos." So i cant unsync songs that i don't want on my iPod but still want in my iTunes. HELP?!

    These are your options:
    1. Restore the iPhoto library from the most recent backup that predates the issue.
Advantages: Always works, if library damage is causing the problem and the backup is intact.
Disadvantages: Impossible if you don't have a backup. All changes made since the backup are lost.
    2. Repair or rebuild the library. Be sure to back it up first.
Advantages: May solve the problem with no loss of data.
Disadvantages: May fail. May take a long time if the library is large.
    3. Scavenge the library with a third-party application called "iPhoto Library Manager," which you can find in a web search. From the application's menu bar (not the iPhoto menu bar), select Library ▹ Rebuild.
Advantages: All images should be preserved.
Disadvantages: All books, calendars, and slideshows will be lost.
