I cannot update my apps. Apple says You Can't update this software since you have not owned the major version. I am the only owner.
I've had this probelm before trying to upgrade apps.
I had the same problem after replacing a hard drive in my computer. It turns out that I couldn't update the apps because they weren't downloaded onto my hard drive after reinstalling the new one.
In iTunes, click on "Apps" in the left column. Then click on "All" in the top nav bar. See if the apps you can't update are listed. If not, find them in the store and redownload them (you shouldn't have to repay for them if you purchased them in the past with the same iTunes account). Once you've got all your apps showing in the "All" window, you should be able to update them.
It would be nice if Apple reinstalled and updated purchased apps rather than give that cryptic message. Hope that helps.

This also can occur if the "free apps" you downloaded have paid upgraded versions and/or are now payware and you can't get updates.
All software from MAS is copy protected, it might be free as in "no charge" but it's not free in the sense you can share it with others. -
I purchased keynote, numbers, and pages when i bought my macbook air in late september. the december update will not load because it says i do not own the software and returns an error messgae 100. i have read manuals and looked over the web but i cannot figure out how to get this software update to identify that i do own these three pieces of software. they are installed and usable. any ideas would be appreciated before i call apple support.

thanksFirst, make sure you are logged into the App Store with the same AppleID that you used to purchase the apps.
If that is not it, look in the App Store under Purchases. Are they there?
If not, go into your account in App Store and click the link to show hidden purchases.
If they are still not there, use the support link in the App Store.
If they do show up, copy all the apps to an external drive, then remove them from your Mac. Go to the App Store, Purchases, and install from there. -

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first. -
Halfway through the OS X Yosemite update it says I am not connected to the internet (when I know I am because I can search through the app store). How can I fix this? I cannot get on Safari because it requires an update to Mac OS X 10.9 or later.
Just to be clear. You have downloaded the Yosemite installer. However you say while it's updating you get the error you are not online. This is confusing since you shouldn't be able to use your computer in the process of updating.
Exactly where do you see you need to 10.9 to get on Safari? -
Okay so about four days ago my ipad says it has apps to update but whenever i go to the update apps page it will not load and i have tried rebooting signing out but nothing will work, any suggestions?
If you are getting the blank app update screen, many, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days. It is a problem that Apple must fix now.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
1. Go to App Store
2. Select Purchased
3. Select All
4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then. -
mac app store tells me to log into <edited by host> account to update apps(that I don't own) but that is not my account and I never heard of this email. Is there a fix for this?

It appears that a) Hotmail has 19 domains functioning as distributors for malware and b) someone is distributing pirated software. Although it does not appear to be related to the recent trojan, my suggestion: stay away from both.
Edit: so why does everyone here appear to have pirated software (and doing it through it App Store)????? -
Hi. I'm having a problem when trying to update apps on my Iphone 4s, running IOS version 7.0.4. When I open appstore and go into Updates tab and press to update an app the app opens instead of updating. And the "Update All" in the top right corner is grey and I cant press it. I have tried clearing space (right now i got about 2.6 GB) so that is not the problem, also tried turning it off and on again. I haven't tried updating apps via computer yet, but I want to be able to update from the phone...
It sounds like you have more than one app to update. I'd pick one app, delete it, then download it again. Just in case there are other issues going on pick one app you can sacrifice just in case it can't be downloaded again. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't download again but it's better to err on the side of caution. If that works than try another.

sorry when I try to update any app it will ask for my password (which I have checked and changed on a number of occasion now,) then seems to try for a while and then just stops and goes back to needs updating. I can access my account on computer and have re checked all info is correct but iPhone and iPad just won't update an app. This has been going on now for the last few weeks.

Updates App says application updates available but App Catalog says no updates available
I'm having an issue where the Updates app says that application updates are available, but when I click the button and it opens the App Catalog My Applications page, none are available. I recently doctored my phone, and wonder if it happened somewhere in that process. And tried the suggestion of removing the .db file, but that doesn't work. It seems I might have a "phantom" app, and was wondering how I can determine which app that is to redownload it and remove it to fix this problem. I can PM my Palm profile e-mail when needed if that is the solution to the problem.
In addition, possibly related to this, is that whenever I go to Preferences + Accounts from the My Applications scene in the App Catalog, it freezes. It doesn't even get to the Accounts page, it just freezes with the menu displayed where I clicked Preferences + Accounts. This works from the main App Catalog scene. Not sure if this has to do with an issue with my Palm Profile and phantom app, but clearly something isn't happening right.
I did two doctors, and a full device reset as well, so I have exhausted those options in trying to fix this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post relates to: Pre Plus p100una (AT&T)Went through Palm support. Basically how I fixed it was:
Asked for the list of "installed" apps on my Palm Profile.
Installed all the apps that were missing from my device that existed in the profile.
Removed the ones I didn't want by doing "delete application" from the app catalog.
With a little luck, and after a reboot, the issue went away.
I think what originally started this issue was after a doctor, I cancelled the download of some of the apps so they would restore faster. I don't think that deleted them from the palm profile.
Anyway, in case anyone runs into this problem, thats how I got past it. -

Sounds like a message you'd get when trying to use an App Store outside of your registered country - ie device registered to U.K. App Store but trying to download while in the U.S.

You are confusing iCloud storage (the storage plan you purchased) with the space on your iPhone. To update over the air you need space on your iPhone. The 13Gb are available storage space in iCloud. The available space on your iPhone is shown in settings, general, usage.
As modular says, the solution is to update by connecting your iPhone to the computer you normally sync with. -

Are you able to download updates for these apps or purchase in app content via iTunes on the computer?
Are you certain that there are no apps on the device that were acquired under a different Apple ID?
If the apps update successfully via iTunes on the computer, simply sync the device to get the updated version on the device. -

If you have Location Services turned on turn this off, then follow steps below:
Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Your_Apple_ID>View Apple ID
When you tap your Apple ID and select View Apple ID you'll need to enter your password, once done you can change the Apple Store.
