Cant update Apps

Hi. I'm having a problem when trying to update apps on my Iphone 4s, running IOS version 7.0.4. When I open appstore and go into Updates tab and press to update an app the app opens instead of updating. And the "Update All" in the top right corner is grey and I cant press it. I have tried clearing space (right now i got about 2.6 GB) so that is not the problem, also tried turning it off and on again. I haven't tried updating apps via computer yet, but I want to be able to update from the phone...

It sounds like you have more than one app to update. I'd pick one app, delete it, then download it again. Just in case there are other issues going on pick one app you can sacrifice just in case it can't be downloaded again. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't download again but it's better to err on the side of caution. If that works than try another.

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

Cant update apps on iphone and having trouble with brand new ipad mini also

Can anyone help I cant update apps or download any. I have checked all billing info and thats all ok can access itunes from computer but
nothing seems to work on iphone anymore. Also have new ipad mini and that seems to work one minute and not the next!
Anyone have any suggestions please.

sorry when I try to update any app it will ask for my password (which I have checked and changed on a number of occasion now,) then seems to try for a while and then just stops and goes back to needs updating. I can access my account on computer and have re checked all info is correct but iPhone and iPad just won't update an app. This has been going on now for the last few weeks.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Cant update apps on my new imac 2012

have just received my new imac 2012 from apple store but cant update apps. keep getting message " To update this app. sign into the account you used to purchase it". These are preinstalled apps (pages, numbers, iphoto). have spoken to numerous people at apple support but no one can give me answer. this is totally ridiculous. Will I be obliged to return my imac to apple store because no one at apple can help me?

You need to associate the computer with an Apple ID in the App Store.
It's been a while since I had a new system but from memory all I had to do was to sign into the App Store with the Apple ID I wanted associate with the system, this ID will be needed for all future updates for all the pre-installed software. Once you sign in with the ID go to the Purchases page I believe that is where you will link the system and ID.

when i say update it wants me to sign in when i sign in it wants me to sign in again and again. İ also cant make automatic updates on it consists on singnin in also. İ had the same problem on my previous iphone 3G. My id an password is correct i can download new apps. İ just cant update apps and purchase anything in games :/

Are you able to download updates for these apps or purchase in app content via iTunes on the computer?
Are you certain that there are no apps on the device that were acquired under a different Apple ID?
If the apps update successfully via iTunes on the computer, simply sync the device to get the updated version on the device.

New apple id - cant update apps

Same thing happened to me. Apple MADE me change my Apple ID and password without reason. It was after I got a new phone from warranty and they seemingly couldn't verify my identity, so I was forced to change it up. Now I cant update my apps without deleting and redownloading. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only way. The only thing about it, is previous data from those apps will delete as well.

Two 4s, one apple id, cant update apps

As the title references: I have two iPhone 4s's and both use the same apple id. I purchased a application on one phone, and am unable to place it and/or update it on the other phone. It prompts me to purchase it again for $2.99 however since I have already purchased, I am afraid that if I attempt to go through with the process of the prompt, it will re-purchase charging me twice.
Is there any solution to this?

Cant update Apps 7.0.3

Updated my phone this morning and now I cant update any of my apps. Ive tried confirming my geographic location through viewing my apple ID, confirmed my credit card info. they still wont update. Any fixes?

I click update and the waiting circle starts to animate. But then it stops and the update button shows back up. Ive tried using both wifi and cellular doesnt seem to make a difference

I recently changed my apple id as previously it was an old obselete email address. I have now changed it to my new email address.
I now see on my iphone that I have updates for apps waitng to download and when I click "update all" a pop up box with my old apple id appears and asked me to enter the password. I thne tried to enter the password but get an error message saying the id or password is incorrect.
As a result I cant update my apps. What should I do?

Moved country. Cant update apps.

I've seen a few unanswered threads on this topic, but they are old and have been archived. Hence the new thread.
I recently moved from Singapore to Australia. With that move came a new credit card for australia, and with that, obviously, I am now buying all my apps form the Australian iTunes store.
The problem is, I cant update the apps that were downloaded from the Singapore store previously. It's rather annoying. iTunes tells me I have updates, but when I click through on the # Updates Available, it says;
"No updates are currently available. To check for updates for another Apple ID, sign in with that Apple ID".
I am using the same mobileme ID I always have. I have only changed the Credit Card details from my Singapore Bank to my Australian Bank.
I have over 200 apps in my itunes. I dont want them all on my phone or ipad all the time. I want to use itunes to manage and update my apps. Surely there must be a logical way to do this?

A FIX ---
I was having same issue, for 3 years, after moving from the US to NZ.
iTunes would indicate I had 27 updates available, but only 2 or 3 would be actually be there, because the rest were downloaded from the iTunes store in the other country, or the other credit card.
So I used to have to change my iTunes Account from NZ back to US (and address and credit card back to my US one that I still have) in order to update all apps, then change back to NZ again next day. A hassle, but it worked, because I still have a US credit card and address to use.
However, I have just found a way to update all apps, without the workaround! It's just a bit of a process if you have a lot of apps, but it is quite easy.
Here goes....
1. Simply open iTunes and log in to your account.
2. Click on Apps in your left menu (tonight mine was showing 27 updates available, but none showed up when I clicked for the updates)
3. View all your Apps by 'List'
4. When you hover over each App name, the arrow pops up
5. Click on the arrow, then click 'Show in iTunes Store'
6. You are taken to the App Store page for that App
7. If the button below the App icon says 'Downloaded', it means you have it and it is up-to-date.
8. IF THE FREE/PURCHASE BUTTON BELOW THE APP ICON SAYS 'FREE', IT MEANS IT NEEDS AN UPDATE (because iTunes recongnises that you have purchssed the App before). CLICK THIS AND THE UPDATE DOWNLOADS
The only issue is you have to go back to the App list and check every one until your update count gets to zero.

Ios8.2 since updating cant update apps or download apps on ipad mini with retina

ios8.02 and now ios8.1 ipad mini still not updating apps or allowing to download from store. circle spins and does nothing else .

Turn off any auto-update, if it is on, then tap.any of the "circle icons" showing that a download is in progress, in order to stop the download. Then go to the Settings and reset the Network Settings. After the iPad starts back up, then check to make sure no apps are currently in progress of downloading. If any are, stop them again, and reset the network settings again. When it starts up again, none should be in the process of downloading. Then from that point forward, only download manually and never more than two at a time. If it is more than 100 MB, then do only one at a time. If any gets stuck at that point, then stop the download and reset the Network settings.
That should take care of you for now. We'll see what another update brings ... IOS 8.2 (which might be the next one).

Updated to OS 5.11, but now cant update apps

I updated to OS 5.1.1 but now App Store only brings up very old Apple ID when trying to update. I have changed ID/Password on the support page and can access my account through iTunes and even through Settings>Store>Apple ID. I have signed out/in, restarted phone and everything works fine EXCEPT whenever I try to update apps through App Store it brings up an apple ID I haven't used in years and is not even recognized on the support/reset pages. Would really appreciate any HELP. THANKS!

Thanks ckuan, None of the apps on this phone were purchased using the old ID. (It's @ 4 years old). If I could just find where the phone is seeing this old ID maybe I could delete it there ( eg. in iTunes) but just can't figure where it could be, and why it would show up only after I upgraded to OS 5.1.1 tho other nights. Thanks again!
