Cant update, Cant open iTunes!!!!! (Purchase in 2009...Ive already upgraded to lion)

Hello Everyone,
Recently I Tried to update my macbook and it will not allow me to update anything. Its telling me I do not have permission. Also, iTunes will not open. Its saying its corrupted or I need to reinstall......Please Help!

Yikes, man.  I'm sorry to hear that.  Do you have any error messages or perhaps screenshots to give us a little more to go on?  Once I get that I can probably investigate a little further, but for now I would try going to Disk Utility and selecting your drive.  Then try the Verify Disk and/or Repair Disk options.

    Hey Bakak,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you keep getting a message to authorize your computer when trying to transfer applications to your iPhone. Here is an article on things that may cause this. I suspect that the section "Authorize using the correct account name" may be most relevant. It is possible that you have multiple Apple IDs and iTunes accounts.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

My macbook is 4 years old, i havent bought any upgrades but now i cant download the new itunes. Can i buy one upgrade and will it work or is there a way to get the new itunes?

Even a four-year-old MacBook should have come with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Leopard can run the latest version of iTunes; it will download and install pretty much automatically if you run Software Update.
You might first have to be sure that you are running the latest version of Leopard, which is 10.5.8. This, too, will download and install for you if you run Software Update. Just keep running Software Update until there is nothing left to download and install (you might have to run it more than once because some updates require previous updates to be installed first).
If you have a version of Mac OS X earlier than 10.5, then you can't run the latest version of iTunes. You will need to buy a more recent version of Mac OS X. You must be running at least 10.4 Tiger, and you can upgrade directly to Snow Leopard from Tiger. Apple still sells Snow Leopard for about $30 and you might find it slightly less at a retailer or on eBay. After upgrading to Snow Leopard, you will be able to upgrade to Lion using the Mac App Store for another $30 or so if your MacBook meets the minimum system requirements.

  • HT204370 I cant fined the play button for a movie ive already rented... How do you restart a movie???

I cant fined the play button for a movie ive already rented... How do you restart a movie???

Once you rent it it will tell you when its 'ready to watch' and you can then hit play. You can also access it by going to the movies tab, and the poster image for the rented title will appear in the top left. You can also go to settings - general - itunes store - check for rentals.
Note: a 6mbps connection is required for instant HD rentals. If you are much lower it may take some time before you can watch. Accessing other content during this time or turning off the device will flush the rental, requiring a reload.

Upgrading the OS does not remove your apps and purchases.

  • HT1420 my computer crashed and we replaced it with a new mac - but when I try to open itunes it states that I already have 5 computers authorized - since the computer crashed and is in the trash, I can't deauthorize it in order to set up the new mac....wh

computer crashed and is in the trash - thus can not deauthorize it to allow me to the new computer - what can i do?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.

  • I can not open iTunes. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get this message when I try to open itunes. can not find MSVCR80.dll     Then I get ERROR 7 (windows error 126)   I tried reinstalling iTunes but that did not help. Please Help Me!

I can not open itunes on my computer. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get a message that states This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried to reinsall the application but it did not help. I also get a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes   Error 7 (Windows error 126)   Please Help me!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Itunes won't recognize iphone - just upgraded to Lion 10.7.4 on iMac

I upgraded to Lion and now itunes wont recognize any of my ipod touches or iphones.  It does see my shuffle.
I tried looking for the folder launch/daemons as suggested in other articles for fixing the issue but the folder does not exist.   The articles that I have seen seem a bit

Use Pacifist to extract it from the hidden InstallESD disk image inside the Install Lion app. If you failed to make a copy, DL it again. Alternatively, restore your previous installation and ensure Mail works there. Anyway, July 4th party time, so don't expect further postings today.

  • Cant update apps in itunes it says not orignal software version?

Hi, i have recently had to change my email address and ever since then I have been having trouble with itunes.  When i plug in my iphone it syncs fine, but then when i try to update my apps it says it cannot because it is not the original purchased software?  Any help would be great.

Did you change the e-mail address associated with your Apple ID or did you create an entirely new one?
Apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them. If you created a new ID, then you can't update those apps with the new ID.

  • Why cant iPad 3 play iTunes purchased movies?

So I've got an iPad 3 or not so new 'new' ipad with retina dsiplay and haven't ever had issues before in syncing or playing HD or SD movies on it.
Recently, I'm guessing after one of the recent updates I can't sync a purchased movie or TV show such as "Anchorman" or "Game of Thrones season 3 - Ep1" to my iPad 3.
I get an error msg saying that these movies or TV shows weren't synced to the ipad because the ipad can't play that file?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but an iPad with Retina display should be able to play any downloaded purchased movie wetc from the itunes store.
This is really irritating as the main reason I have this thing is to sync movies and TV shows to watch while travelling on planes etc.
And yes, I realise I could probably download them straight to the iPad through ym purchased link in the itunes store or something but that sort of defeats the purpose and takes much longer than a sync.
Please help its driving me nuts......
P.S - I'm no iPad nor iOS or OSX noob, and have had an iPad of some sort since the first day they were released.

The only thing that I could suggest is the really basic stuff which I'm sure that you already tried, reboot the iPad, quit iTunes, restart your computer and try again ....
I understand the principle behind being able to sync as it should, but sometimes trying to get to the bottom of something like this can be like beating your head against the wall and you never get anywhere. My point is, you may have to just "bite the bullet" and delete the show from the iPad and download it again.
I have had to do that a couple of times with purchased movies that would not sync or play correctly on the iPad.

  • Cant update the OPEN STOCK with MB1C

    Hellow guru's,
i had face one problem with open stock updation in MB1C t-code. An error message appeared as " WM movement type 561 not allowed for warehouse no 717" and message no: L9006.
How to solve this problem? kindly explain with detail.

    Hi
It seems that WM is activated for the Stock postings. U need to configure the WM settings for the movement type 561 to the WHN(Ware house no)
Path > SPRO > Logistics Execution > Warehouse Management > Activities > Transfers > Define Movement Types
U can also use Mvt type 501 if already defined in the settings. Just look for that

  • Why cant I import my iTunes purchases into iMovie 6?

I am quite frustrated. Because of all the problems I was having with iMovie 4, I recently upgraded my system to OS Tiger 10.4, my iMovie to version 6 and all other iLife components to version 8 (my processor doesn't support iMovie 8).
Now I have a whole batch of new problems. Every time I try to import a song I purchased through iTunes into a movie, a dialgue box tells me my computer is not "authorized" to play that song and prompts me to authorize my computer. After going through the process of authorization I am told my computer is now authorized, but the same thing happens when I try to import music again. I've tried the authorization proccess many times now with no success, although iTunes tells me I have 2 computers authorized (where did it come up wioth a second computer?).
What is this "authorization" bull crap? I never had this problem with my old OS and iLife 4 components. Rather than getting easier to use, everything seems to be getting more difficult with upgrades.
    At "wits" end,
    Richard Witt

The common is (apparently, with several hundreds of posts) extremely common. It seems to be a bug with iTunes. The only workaround is burning all of the individual songs to a CD, reimporting them to iTunes, saving them as AIFF and reimporting them into the iMovie timeline. All kinds of other things have been tried to no avail -- see the several other threads on this topic.
