Cant update firmware n95

Basically I am trying to update my n95 to the latest firmware. I have installed Nokia Suite and it detects my phone and is connected to it. I have installed Nokia Software Updater and it just refuses to detect the device. This is the first time ive uninstalled both and reinstalled. I have tried loading NSU by itself and it doesnt detect it.
How to fix this?

I had the same problem as you with my 5230, here's what did the trick for me.
1st. When updating on the phone make sure you are using the WAP and not the GPRS... That probably isn't the case for you but I just wanted to be sure.
I had tried updating on the phone and on OVI/PC suite but nothing worked after several tries and re-installs.
I then thought that maybe the problem was with the network I was using, so I put a sim from a another phone I have that's on a different network and BOOM it worked, got it updated in about 10 minutes.
If you don't have another SIM you can easily buy a manual top up/prepaid one or even borrow it from a friend.
I know it sounds like a long shot but it worked for me.

Help!!!Cannot update firmware N95 v20 to v21

Could anyone help me with this problem
i've installed NSU and nokia pc suite(all latest..)
i've plug the my n95(v20), detected by PC suite...
i run NSU,, detected,,, and downloaded v21 firmware for n95 (112mb)..
after it finished downloading, when it try to install it.. it says
"Downloading update failed"
"internal module error"
maybe i didnt read the instruction about change profile to general..
i changed it to general, the problem still the same...
okay maybe after i didnt change profile there is some file left in my phone.. so i decided to soft n hard reset.... and i connect again... still showing the same problem, after it finished download...
so i used my other computer(maybe there is some problem with my vista), so i used my XP...
and it still showing the same problem..
i've used that msxml4 solution, but it still didnt work...
Please help me....

Cant Update Firmware - Computer Won't Recognize Classic

I recently installed a 1GB RAM card into my Powerbook g4, and instead of recognizing all my subsequent RAM after installation (1.25 GB) my computer would just recognize 756 MB, or something like that. So after reading discussions, I thought I should update the firmware to fix the problem. Well the firmware update didn't take hold because my mac didn't have classic installed. so I re-installed Classic from my Mac OSX software restore CDS, and in System Profiler it recognizes that OS9.2.2 is now installed. However, when I run the firmware update, it still says "Firmware will not run from OSX. restart from a startup disk with OS9 installed", yet it is. My startup disk is set to my hard drive with OS9 installed on it. So I don't understand what's going wrong. And now my computer is randomly crashing with the dimmed background screen and the error message "You Need to Restart Your Computer". also, my Apple menu option won't even open when clicked - the little menu on the left hand side of the Finder menu bar that lists "About this mac" .. etc.
I've also ran the disk utility and tried to repair and verify the disk, but it says that "Macintosh HD cannot be mounted" or something, and I click on "unmount" and nothing happens.
I would appreciate any insight anyone can offer. I have checked a lot of previous discussion posts but every suggested solution I've tried hasn't worked.

Re the firmware update -
In order to run the firmware updater, the machine must be booted to OS 9 - it will not run in Classic while the machine is still booted to OSX. To boot the machine to OS 9, open the Startup Disk control pane (Apple Menu > System Preferences > Startup Disk) and select OS 9 as the boot OS.
It is a good idea to print out the instructions before performing the update.
Note - if your G4 PowerBook is not OS 9 bootable, there is no firmware update for it.

Re the RAM issue -
If I understand correctly, you have one (new) 1.0GB RAM module and one (old) 256MB module, and the machine is recognizing only half of the new module (512MB + 256MB = 768MB net).
This can be caused by more than one thing -
• If your G4 PowerBook is OS 9 bootable, it can not use a 1.0GB RAM module. The largest it can use is 512MB, and the max it can address is 1.0GB. If this is the case, you will need to replace the 1.0GB module with a 512MB module of correct specs.
• If your G4 PB is new enough that it can use a 1.0GB module, the module you received probably does not meet specs for that machine. RAM must meet the specific requirements for each Apple model.

In order to use Disk Utility to repair the drive, you will need to have the machine booted to the OSX Install disk. When the machine is booted to an OS on the hard drive, that drive is in use - and can not be repaired (nor dismounted).

Cant update firmware?

Trying to update firware in a recently acquired 350 MHz slot loading iMac (so I can update the os to 10.3)
I am booting up from the HD, which is running OS 9.1
When I try running the firmware installer, the iMac boots up as usual (no long beep), and I always get the message that the firmware was nor iunstalled.... "review instructions" or cancel.
I am pressing in the developer button, but wondering if it is actually working! (I am not pressing the reset button by mistake)
Are there any key combinations I can use instead of trying to press in the button? Any other suggestions?

I have updated the system to 9.2.2, and still have thew same problem.
Starting up in Open Firmware gives the following message:

Just to give a little more detail..... Following the instructions on the firmware upgrade (restarting while holding in the developer button) results in the usual start-up chime, after which the Mac quickly restarts, chimes again (normal start-up chime) then proceeds to boot as normal.
Once it has booted up, the firware installer tells me to review instructions & try again..... very frustrating! Any help gratefully received

Cant update firmware on SRP 527w?

I'm trying to update the firmware on my SRP 527W, but there is nowhere in the GUI to do this. According to the admin guide, I'm supposed to be able to go to Administration --> Firmware Upgrade to do this. Only thing I have under administration is Time Setup and Switch Setting.
How am I supposed to upgrade this thing?

I cant update firmware on MuVo

HI!!! I have a very big problem with my MuVo TX 256MB... I wanted to upgrade firmware,so I download it and then I run it.But some error was occured and the player?s current version of firmware is 0.00.00 .So i want to format it and try it again. I have driver MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.But I can't format it.When i try it from My Computer(and right-click on removable disk),no window is showed.When I run firmware.exe and click start,it stop on allocating table,and then I get error "The semaphore timeout period has expired"(i have checked format data area).And now I don?t know what to do...When I try to make it in recovery mode,I get an error "The device is not connected to USB port".Please help me!!!!!!!!! Firmware update for N95, its not updating, HELP!!!

I also have a problem on net it is mentioned that latest firmware is 30.0??? and my N95's firmware is 21.0.0.16.
I tried by downloading lateset software updater whenever I tried it says this is most updated one on my mobile, one of cousin has alredy updated his N95. Even I check with the code given on the back of the mobile it shows 21.0.0.16 is the latest one, somebody explain this to me, Please.

It quite still quite possibly be an unlocked but branded handset. Do you see any branding logos when you turn the phone on or do you see any network icons anywhere in the menus?
By the way, a new version of NSU V1.4.64 has just been released. Try that and see if it gives you your update. You can download it from

N70:cant update the firmware

got n70 v5.0609.2.0.1, and try to update firmware via nokia software updater(by pc) to v5.0616.2.0.3.but the updater reply with msg that my phone is up to date.
my code is 0530339.

I have the same issue, I think it may be something to do with your opperator. If your Tel.co. does not have an updated version of the firmware for their devices, you wont get an update.

No updates for N95 and more

Well it seems to be that there's not going to be more firmware updates for N95. That's a big shame for Nokia because at least I was expecting ASR. I got an iPod Touch and I've seen that even the old iPhone 2G is receiving updates to the next firmware 2. But if you want Nokia's ASR and newest services, you have to buy a new Nokia like the new N96 or N85 they're launching. I've paid so much for my N95 not so long ago and now it's a forgotten cellphone.
That's why I'm planning to sell my N95 and buy the new iPhone 3G, I know it will not be unlocked, I'll have to unlock it by my self, and I know that it's 2MP camera will not be the same than the N95 camera; but I'm happy because I know that I will always have updates for this device, will have ASR and other things that Nokia could update on their devices instead of making them obsolete.
Come on Nokia, when are you going to learn?

hi mate simple threats of going to the iphone will not help them bring out software for your phone , i doubt any software peeps from noia even read this forum its a users forum if you have a problem you should email nokia directly through their contact us pages

there will be 1 more new firmware for the n95-1 , and iam sure it will contain asr and geotagging for the 5mp camera just like the n82s last update did and n95 8gbs added it too, yes thats right the n95 8gb did not come with asr as standard from release it was added in v20 if iam correct v15 for the 8gb dosent have it so it was pretty dam good for them to add it
anyways v21 on the n95 is very good just add rotate me or landscape pro and your phone will have asr, the nokia technicians dont really have to sort out any issues at all with v21 , it has transformed my phone into a top hanset with decent battery life for such a feature packed handset , new firmwares roll out mainly to iron out bugs if a handset dosent have bugs why would they update it??
we are lucky that nokia can even be bothered to add new features really , they dont have to do they , the handset isnt advertised with asr is it , nope , so we are lucky they listen and add features

i personally think nokia do well with their updates and nokia users are lucky that their phones get updated via the net and that nokia can be bothered to add new features etc into the firmware and not just iron out little bugs
anyways mate id be more patient before you go over to the darkside i believe the new firmware for the n95-1 will be avalible just before the n96 release as the developers are going to be busy with their new hanset and ironing out the new bugs on that n96 , once the n95-1 has asr and geotagging bult into firmware it will be more then the device we was promised and i think nokia will leave it like that for a bit and work on the n96

i meant updates to the NSU itself .
you've been notified of an update to your phones software that's different . problems you're facing is quite common with vista.
a quick look at the forum will show you that a lot of people complained and were adviced regarding the connection problems.

word of advice : don't risk it if you're not sure what to do, if you feel that you can't do it, please leave this to the nokia care point to do, otherwise you might end up with a bricked non-functioning handset.

I want to update my n95 firmware to 30.0.1.15 but while doing so i sometime get error no device found when i want to update phone from my company network and wheni try to update phone at home then also its not updating saying tht phone cannot be updated. Plz help me what to do ?????Can i go nokia care centre to upgrade my firmware and will it be free of cost if my phone is in warranty???

I cant update my iphone to 4.1 thats say that error message "the iphone xxxx cant be updated actually because the serveur of update is timedout or try again later" a message like this. i have no fire wall no antivirus etc i've download the firmware via a another site and put it in C:\Documents and Settingsusername\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates and that dont work too.

Hi, I had the same problem on my wife's pc running XP, as a workaround I used another PC which just happened to be running Win 7 and it updated without problems, I think my wifes problem was XP that was corrupt, since then I have re-intalled XP and it now works correctly with her Iphone 3gs.

Your asking a user-to-user forum for advice on updating a phone that is not officially launched yet. Of course it is not supported by NSU or by OTA updates yet.
Where did you buy it from? If the IMEI number begins with '00' instead of '35' then you have a prototype device which nobody had the right to sell to you, it remains always the property of the manufacturer - and if this is the case it could explain your problems as a prototype may not be the final version, it may in fact be far from complete.
Assuming that it is a genuine CE model with a '35' IMEI number, you may have one of the early releases which are not for sale but are provided to retailers and networks to review prior to launch to review.
A prototype will have no warranty as it was never intended for sale, a normal device given to a third party prior to the launch may also not be warrantied - the best thing to do is to check with Nokia customer services to check its status because there is good reason to suspect you have been sold a phone under false pretences and you should in that case have recourse with whoever sold it to you.

Nokia software updater & 5230, cant update

hi all, i have a serius problem, i try to update my 5230 firmware with NSU, it downloads v12 firmware and in the moment of start update, the nsu lose conection with the phone, and i cant update it, how i can solve it?

Same problem here! I try to update my 5230 with PC Suit and with Ovi too. Nothing works. It says that we need to have a sim card inserted and good signal while updating...but after I start updating...the phone closes and, ofcourse it looses the signal until restarst... This is the moment when the update program says that connection with the phone has been broken. I've tried to do this update like a hundred times...i restarted the phone...hard reset...factory settings...NOTHING WORKS! Pls... does anyone can give a reason? Because i will not try it again. i'm tired of this...i'm thinking maybe i should go to Sony ericsson... maybe they have better ways to help their "phone users"....but that's just me. Anyway... HELP! Really need this!
