Cant Update iPhoto & imovie

trying to update Iphoto app i reciever this message, "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
This is not the case as this laptop was given to me by my company "Weather Channel" to use. How do i correct this issue!? Any hlp would be appreciated. FYI, i deleted the old IPhoto app and am worried that I'll have to pay for the app again.

You hae to log into the App store using the Apple ID that was used to set up the computer to update the applications associated with that Apple ID
Otherwise you need to contact the App store suport to see if they can help (link is on the right of the app store windw) or puchase your own copies of the applications

  • Can't update iPhoto/ iMovie in App Store. New Retina MBP.

I have just purchased a new Retina MBP. App store wont let me update iPhoto/ iMovie because I'm not logged in with account that purchased the apps. I tried the 2 apple id's I have and no luck. Any advice? Thanks.

if you opened the app store. and logged in with both accounts and it didn't allow you to download the app.  should say download.  if not you will have to pay.  no way to see unless you have an old email from when you did.

  • I am not able to update iPhoto, iMovie and garageband on my macbook pro. these three apps came installed with ilife suite.

I am unable to update iphoto, imovie, and Garageband on my Macbook Pro.  I understand that these apps are part of ilife suite.  Purchased Macbook at Best Buy January 2012.  All software is updated.  I recieve message asking me to sign into account that I purchased these apps from.  I am signed in , however I did not purchase these apps they came on Macbook.  I also tried deleting Garageband and re-installing it. Now Garageband says accept but Macbook will not accept.  Anyone else have this problem and were you able to resolve it.

The fact that they were preinstalled is why they are supposed to appear in the Purchased pane, in a temporary area labeled Purchases, for you to accept. Not doing so soon after you got the Mac has messed this process up.
    To get things back on track properly try these steps;
    Updating Pre-installed iLife apps -
1 - Log out and quit iTunes and the Mac App Store (MAS)
2 - Go to System Prefs/Users & Groups/~user/Password and enter the Apple ID connected to your iTunes/Mac App Store account. Close Sys Prefs
    3 - Delete /Mac HD/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
    4 - Reboot your Mac
5 - Open Mac App Store
6 - Go to the Purchased pane and Accept the three iLife apps. Enter iTunes/MAS username/password if prompted.

  • I cant update iphoto since uploading to Maverick

Maverick wont let me open iphoto & i cant update iphoto with my old or current apple id

You must log in using the Apple ID that was used to set up the compter (or purchase the application if it was purchased later)
Assuming that you have some version of iPhoto '11 it should be available under the purchases tab
You can try trashing the iPhoto Application (do not empty the trash until everything is working ok) and then installing from the App store
If that is not working then you must contact App store suport - link is on the right of the App store window

  • I cant update Iphoto because of user account

Hi, I bought a second-hand Macbook from an aquiantance which already had all the basic apps like imovie, iphoto, etc. Now, after updating to Yosemite I realise I also have to update iphoto. So, the problem is that it was purchased by the account of the previous owner of the macbook. So now this pop-up appears when I try to update it. I wouldnt mind having the old version, but it wont open. I NEED to update in order to use iphoto. I have pictures stored in the old version I cant recover, and they were emotionally important to me. Any ideas??
    Thank you

In the Applications folder on your computer drag the application you wish to own to the trash and then go to the App Store and purchase and install them

  • HT1338 After upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion I cannot update iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand

    Hi all
On my iMac 27 (2011) I see that these updates are available but clicking on "Update all" gives me  the error message "These apps cannot be accepted on this computer. Future updates will be available through "Software Updates"" Any idea?
I can, however, download apps from the app store. That works.
    Appreciate your ideas.

  • Cant update iphoto because its under another user

I can´t update or use my iPhoto with Yosemite because its under another user and I don´t wan´t to lose my photos.

You need to either update it from the Apple ID used to download it or delete and redownload it; on a Mac, this won’t erase your photos or the application’s other data, but they should be backed up anyway.

  • Cant update iphoto. I am directed to sign in an account that is not mine, and I dont have a password to. what do I do. I have not updated in a very long time because of this problem.

    Dear All,
Ever since i installed mountain lion to my imac, I have not been able to update my iphoto. I keep getting software update alert, but when I go to update, I am asked to log into a hotmail account which does not belong to me, and which I obviously do not have a password to. I am distracted by this.  can anyone please advice me on what to do? Thanks in advance

    Sorry LarryHN
    Your response did not help.!
I did not purchase the computer from someone Else or i i Would have knoen the password could be thèrs, Besides only iPhoto and i movie  had that problem. Anyway,
Fortunately i was able to find a solution from a thread where someone asked the same question. I did what they Said, which was something to dó with spotlight, and Bingo it Worlked.

  • Cant update iphoto

When I open iPhoto it tells me that there is a new version, so I go to software update, but there seem not to be any new software for my mac.

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.
Other than that... what version of iPhoto do you have?
    Regards

  • Three days to download updates; iPhoto, IMovie, Evernote

Hi, I bought a MacBook air approx 3 months ago (a mid-2011model recently and within a month/6weeks the new one & Pro were out - not happy). OS is Lion. I have had trouble downloading updates since I got it. I tried, tried and tried again. Constantly losing Gbs of data to no avail. I tried wireless and Ethernet cable neither were any faster. My PCs seem to be updating just fine. I Finally had to leave the Mac running for three days to complete these three updates. This was a computer I was excited about getting. Fast, secure and extremely portable. I am severely disappointed. I've also found my iPad and iPhone running slowly as well (but not the PCs) when trying to download updates and apps. Actually it's mostly updates. Omn myipad, selecting to download all updates (5 at the most, can take all day and illhave run out of battery power by the end (this is an iPad 2 just under a year old).
I'm really regretting the switch. The Air was a step towards moving to Apple only computers. The downloading is appalling. Somebody could have told me to wait a month for wears & MacBook Pros. I got the top of the Range mac Air but only top for a month. I would have probably gone with a new mac book pro if I'd have known what was going on. The mac Air is useful as an expensive iPad back up system.
I'm sorry if any of this sounds aggressive in any way - its nit meant to. I do have to applaud your customer service employee Ryan at Charlestown NSW for trying to help me with the iPad. It's no longer crashing or freezing just downloading extra extra extra slow!!
Please can you help me. I haven't used a mac since about 1992/1993. So a newbie again! Please help!
    Cheers,
    Mink

Venting frustration aside, if all your Apple devices are experiencing slow wireless/internet, have you tried it with only one on the network with no other devices attached/active on the network? Have you tried a different channel on the router (if it's assigned a channel to use). Are you using 802.11n 5Ghz networking or the slower 802.11g 2.4 Ghz network? Some wireless routers have the capability to run in both modes (simultaneous dual-band), and all your newer Apple devices can run at the faster 802.11n 5Ghz speeds.
Since you're experiencing slow internet performance on all your Apple devices, one common element is the wireless service, which is why I'm poking there.

  • Hi guys, I have a problem with my new macbook pro 15". I tried to updtate the apps (iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband), but an error was displayed "You have updates available for other accounts". I don't have other accounts!!! :(

    Hi guys,
I have a problem, I have a new macbook pro. I updated the software without problems; then I tried to update iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband, but an error was displayed "You have updates available for other accounts". I don't have any other account, i tried everything found on the net but nothing seems to work...Please help me!!!!

Same thing for me it writes "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

  • HT1338 Mac app store won't let me update iPhoto and iMovie.

I'm trying to update iPhoto & iMovie, just got a new mac and when I go into the Mac App Store and click update on iPhoto and iMovie it says: "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." .....both came pre-installed on my mac and I only have one apple ID, I don't have another one to sign into... please help?

You should be able to go the Mac App Store, login with your Apple ID that you have set up and registered, and then since you just bought the iMac New you should find those two Apps to click on listed in the "Purchases" List that is associated with your Apple ID account.  You may or may not need to, for Free, redownload those two Apps from the Purchases List to trigger allowing Free Updates.  I'm not sure, not having done this that way.
    Hope this helps

  • Cant get iPhoto to update

I upgraded to Yosemite on my mac and I cant update iPhoto at all (or Final Cut Pro).  I keep getting the message that the update isnt available because it was bought by another user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

    Fallingtree wrote:
I cant even do that because I already downloaded Yosemite.  even before yosemite, if I clicked on iphoto it would ask to merge (i think)  I did that on my ipad but didnt sync all the folders.
Sorry but that make no sense at al - either in the context of your question or as a separate question
You original question is about getting iphoto to update
    Cant get iPhoto to update
    And you further state
I keep getting the message that the update isnt available because it was bought by another user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
    the answer to that is
If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library  and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto
If that does not work contact the App store support - link is on the right of the App store window
What happens exactly when you try the answer to your question?
