Cant update or download apps on iphone 4.

My iphone will not allow me to update or download any apps, it constantly asks me for my id and password. I have tried restoring, updating, changing handset to brandnew set, changing password, creating new id, going through itunes account on mac to tick all the boxes, signing in and out of itunes account on mac and pc you name it. I have even got in contact with the geniuses at itunes and all l get is not worth listing here, really fedup with this problem and if l cant get a solution here im considering jumping ship to the competition.
Any suggestions to my dilema?????

    also, u can try using an itunes gift card instead.

    Do you have a very slow wif connection on the iPod?
    Have you tied connecting to another network?

    Problem got solved, please find the below mentioned steps to resolve.
    Steps to Resolve:
    1. launch the iTunes app.
    2. Connnect iPhone to the Mac.
    3. Click on View menu from header file then select "Show Sidebar".
    4. Right click on Device on left side pane then select "Transfer perchased"menu.
    After the File copying from iPhone to iTunes.

    If you can't resolve the issue on your own, call Apple or schedule a call >   Apple - Support - Solutions

    I've been trying to update and download apps for a while now and it simply can't. I've tried to stop the download and start it again but it cannot download. The only thing that happens is that the app become unavailable and it either waits (the blue spinning circle) or the download image (circle with a square) appears. But there's no progress whatsoever.
    I have an iPhone 5s and I'm running on iOS 8.1.2, before I updated it worked perfectly, so is it an iOS problem? Or what should I do?

    I can't update or download apps. When i try, I get the red circle with the red square in the middle- no activity, and when I tap on it it instantly reverts to the cloud/arrow symbol.     That is exactly what happened to me!  I wrote to Apple and they informed me that my account had been disabled because somebody had made a complaint that their credit card had been used to buy stuff on my account without their consent thus my account was disabled and it was a permanant thing.  They suggested I set up a new Id, explained I could still use my apps but would not be able to update them.  I wrote back to them explaining that there was no way I would have done such a thing, that I felt that I was being penalised over something I had not control over and I had bought my apps in good faith expecting to be able to update them as required.  I also pointed out that a little while ago I found that my account had suddenly changed to a USA based one so that I had reset it and the password along with the credit card attached to it.  I didn't really think much about it but now I wonder if I had been hacked. 
    I did get a very nice email back saying that they would investigate but having waited a few days I just got an email from a supervisor saying they had closed the account, there would be no further information given and I could look at their terms and conditions. I haven't been even been told what apps were supposedly bought through my account to see if there has been a genuine mix-up with credit cards through the banking system.  I feel somewhat besmirched by the whole affair; I would never do anything illegal or misuse my account but despite being a loyal Apple customer who has promoted their products at every given opportunity, both professionally and socially, I have been summararily dismissed without being given the chance to defend myself or my reputation.
